In this video I dismount, "flip" and re-mount 18 kart tires in an effort to repetitively demonstrate the method I use for dismounting and mounting tires, which for some reason seems elusive to many people.

Every time I change tyres I spend 10 minutes *cursing* the first rim. Then I look for this video to remind me how it should be done, and it just becomes easy. And like you say, the 'problem' rims, leave them for 5 minutes and they stop being a problem. Thanks, great video.

Awsome work mate. Once you made me aware that the iner rim is smaller I was able to do it no probs. Now all i need is to devlope the indurance that you have over time with plenty of practice. Again thnx!!

I watched one of your videos last year and I have been using your method ever since
@cartracer6410 жыл бұрын
you sure make it look easy, I use a similar technique. I also have found that new tires are harder to mount, dismount. I even have bent the tire breaker bar when trying to break the bead as I see yours has a steel handle. do you use any lubricant when airing up the tires when setting the bead. thanks

It's all about EACH brand tire and EACH brand wheel. Some I can do with NO tools in 60 seconds, others I can't do by hand at all and have to use various levels of tools.

I have hands like vice grips I think I can manage it thanks for the tip. I've done the same thing with bicycle tires never used levers or spoons.

Very nice, but I think the problem is with new tires when the sidewalls are still very stiff
@AdrenalineFixKarting9 жыл бұрын
+USPECIAL Thanks for watching! You're right, some tires with very stiff sidewalls will fight you. Vega Whites are terrible. Don't forget to put the tires in front of a heater or inside someplace warm if the ambient temperature is less than 50F. Temp places as big part too.

that's impressive, it just took me over an hour to change one set! can you describe the technique in more detail? where you're applying force, the orientation of the wheel and tire etc. I feel like I'm doing the same thing and it works but it's very difficult!

+Daron Layne Thanks Daron but the Douglas Mag rims are probably the most cooperative rims out there. Nevertheless, it really is just technique and it works well on most rims.

i wish i could do it that easily! i wrestled with one tire for like 15 mins. gave up and decided to just go see a friend with a tool to remove the tire haha. evinco reds were the ones i was trying to get off.
@goodboyringo97169 жыл бұрын
You must have a good grip would new tires go on that easy?
@AdrenalineFixKarting9 жыл бұрын
+R Shay New tires may be a little harder than worn tires because as the tires wear there is less rubber on them. The less rubber the less stiff the treads are making them a little easier to fold and bend. Also, brand new tires will be a little harder to grip because of the silicone release agent the manufactures use to ease the tire coming out of the mold.

Where do you get the tool
@eangdaniec85159 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, It seems that if it much easier using those specific tires than on my 15 inch tire with a 6 inch hole into 6" x 4.5" rims.

+Ean Gdaniec Those Douglas 5" mag rims are pretty easy, I'll admit. We have some CRG mags on our team that are a real struggle.

You're not changing kart tires, you're flipping old, soft, pliable tires
@AdrenalineFixKarting5 жыл бұрын
I believe I mention that in the video but thank you for your contribution. The technique is the point and it works on new or used tires. But please post your video of you flipping old, soft, pliable tires so we can learn something from you.
