I appreciate your views and analysis. My personal opinion is leaning toward a similar vibe. The teaser did a great job I’m hyped to see what happens Ashoka calling herself a Jedi isn’t a bad thing, you can be a Jedi but your ideals don’t have to be the same as the ones from the prequel era, she is a new type of Jedi, for now, I’ll call her a Way-Seeker, a Jedi that follows the Will of the Force and goes to where the force takes her, rather than following a council I think if the writers of SW had framed the Jedi trials this way, and written Anakin's encounter with Palps and Mace as a failed trial, it would have made his fall to the dark side more tragic, and also more understandable I think that whatever Ahsoka saw or experienced in the Sith temple after she returned from the World Between Worlds when she chose to tread deeper into the belly of the beast, she was exposed to something that changed her, and she, like Kanan Jarrus, became a Knight of the Jedi Order at that moment. (or perhaps more precisely, a grey Jedi, but that's a different theory) We see the Dark Side energy of the temple corrupting the characters' decisions during this episode. Maul directly tempts our three heroes with vengeance on their enemies, and they quickly agree to ally with him. Yes, revenge is the bait Maul used, and they all took it. First Ezra, then Ahsoka, and then reluctantly Kanan Ahsoka was sacrificing herself on Malacore 5. It was the will of the force to save her from that end. How Vader doesn't die baffles me but that's the story Huang means one thing to me...and that's the most my thing in all of SW: Gungi. I want to see Guni and Grogu fly the Falcon. Maybe she just cares to take either label, “Jedi” or “Sith”……Maybe she is like me, I Choose Me, I don’t choose sides in life. I look at both “Sides” and look at their strengths and weaknesses and learn. Great video sir I was thinking, wasn't the three titles in the trailer, "Outcast, rebel, Jedi" was not just referring to just Ahsoka? I believe it's referring to Ahsoka (outcast), Sabine (rebel), and Ezra (Jedi). We know Ahsoka felt like an outcast, Sabine referred to herself as a Rebel throughout Rebels and Ezra referred to himself as a Jedi due to being trained by Kanan who decided to take the Jedi mantle and train Ezra. We know the three main characters will be Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra which makes sense. But I can be reached here I’m more excited about the show after seeing the trailer. Since the Mandalorian season 2, something has seemed off about Ahsoka. The Ahsoka series trailer just confirmed my suspicions. But when did this change the character of Ahsoka Tano?

The episode with Ahsoka was titled "The Jedi". They were deliberate. You forgot the fact that she did die and has the pure light side of the force given to her by The Sister from Mortis when she was resurrected. Now, for the post Empire, to everyone she would be considered a Jedi in their eyes. But she is probably something more or different.

Excellent observations! I am so glad you posted this theory, I can't believe I didn't catch the JEDI callout in the trailer. And what's even worse is that I was POSITIVE that Ahsoka had told Din she was no Jedi, but you're right, she's given the opportunity to say the line, and purposely avoids it. She then warns of the danger feelings of attachment can do to a fully trained Jedi Knight. "The best of us" she describes them. The best of US, not the best of THEM. She is admitting that she includes herself in the category of "fully trained Jedi Knight". I believe you have given me the final piece of a puzzle I have been working on. I love that your thinking lead you to the Sith temple on Malachor... I agree that the moment Ahsoka became a Jedi did happen on Malachor, but I think it was AFTER her duel with Vader. After Ahsoka is rescued by Ezra via the World Between Worlds, and they make their subsequent escape from Palpatine, Ahsoka returns to her previous timeline. If you refer back to this moment during the Rebels season 2 finale, we get a montage of everyone licking their wounds and moving on, but not Ahsoka. We instead, see her limp back down into the depths of the Sith temple. We see the Dark Side energy of the temple corrupting the characters decisions during this episode. Maul directly tempts our three heroes with vengeance on their enemies, and they quickly agree to ally with him. Yes, revenge is the bait Maul used, and they all took it. First Ezra, then Ahsoka, and then reluctantly Kanan. Maul assures Kanan, Ezra, and Ahsoka of Vader's inability to the resist the temptation of the occasion, referring to the three of them as "two Jedi and a part timer". We immediately cut to a closeup of Ahsoka looking embarrassed or regretful when she is called this, a "part timer". This is a clue we are meant to notice. During Ahsoka's confrontation with Vader, he tells her he destroyed Anakin Skywalker, she then proclaims she will avenge his death - still letting vengeance motivate her. Vader points out "This is not the Jedi way" to which Ahsoka replies for the very last time "I am no Jedi." She uses her thirst for vengeance, the Dark Side to fuel her fight with Vader (and lost). Thank you for your patience if you have read this far. It will come together. Kanan Jarrus became a Jedi Knight in the Jedi temple at Lothal during a force vision, just a few episodes previously, where he was confronted with his own feelings of inadequacy, and the very real threat of Ezra turning to the Dark Side. After a duel with a Jedi temple guard, he accepted that fighting was not the way that Jedi win. Once he accepted this fate, he officially became a Knight of the Jedi Order. Simultaneously, Ezra was visited by Yoda in the other room, when Ezra is unable to come to the same conclusion Kanan just did, Yoda SENT THEM ON THEIR QUEST TO MALACHOR. I think that whatever Ahsoka saw or experienced in the Sith temple after she returned from the World Between Worlds, when she chose to tread deeper into the belly of the beast, she was exposed to something that changed her, and she, like Kanan Jarrus, became a Knight of the Jedi Order in that moment. (or perhaps more precisely, a grey Jedi, but that's a different theory)

@BluhmGardens Жыл бұрын
Good video, but there's a couple things I'd add. First, when Ahsoka refused the offer to rejoin the Jedi it was not because her opinion of the Order changed. In the CW episode, when Anakin asked "Why are you doing this?", she replied "The Council didn't trust me, so how can I trust myself?" She was never disillusioned with the Order, she began questioning whether or not SHE was worthy of being a Jedi. Later on with the Martel sisters is when she started questioning what it meant to be a Jedi, and started acting like she believed a Jedi should. This gave her enough confidence to approach Anakin and Obi-wan for help with Maul and Mandalore. When they turned her down it was like a slap in the face to her, and was the proof she needed to see what the Order had become. In that moment she experienced resentment towards the Order. I passed quickly because of the severity of the mission, and getting to work with Rex and the boys. But Maul got under her skin enough to bring the resentment back up again. After capturing Maul and returning to the Republic ship, I believe were it not for Order 66 she would have rejoined the Jedi Order upon returning to the Temple with Maul. But then Order 66 happened, proving what Maul had said to be true. When she went into hiding, she began dealing with "survivor 's guilt". You know, the whole "Had I done things different would my friends still be alive?" thing... Once she joined the rebellion she switched into the "anger" stage of grief. She wanted to get back at the Empire for what they had done to the Jedi, and Galaxy at large. She could not have called herself a Jedi then, because she was giving in to the darkness that is vengeance. We see that anger culminate in her fight with Anakin, when she says the thing. My point of all this is that we have not seen Ahsoka go through her last Trial yet. When Ezra pulls her into the WBW she has to immediately deal with the fact that she has to let her Master go the same as she tells Ezra he must. This is the beginning of her healing. Ahsoka went from thinking she was not worthy enough to be a Jedi, to the Jedi not being worth their reverence, to blaming herself for the death of her family and friends, to blaming the Empire, and finally to blaming Anakin for it all. Her Trial is to come to terms with the fact that no matter what she (or Anakin) could have done, nothing would have changed the events that occurred. She has to reach the "acceptance" stage of grief before she can be healed enough to call herself a Jedi again. Which, if the rumors about the show are true, we will see when she uses the WBW to view other possible futures had things been done differently. I believe this will have occurred before she even meets Luke. Just like with Obi-wan in his series, Ahsoka will not be able to see Anakin's Force ghost until she goes through all the same stages of grief Obi-wan had to to see Qui-gon.

I would personally argue that Ahsoka never stopped being a Jedi. Although as of 19 BBY she was no longer a member of the Jedi Order, her actions and moral philosophy undoubtedly are that of a Jedi. Ahsoka went out of her way to help Trace and Rafa Martez, even when she didn't have to and her actions screwed her over. Ahsoka went out of her way to help Bo-Katan and the Nite Owls defeat Maul and liberate Mandalore, even though she didn't have to and had no reason to trust the Nite Owls (considering her first meeting with Bo was... less than friendly). Ahsoka fought dutifully with the GAR during the Siege of Mandalore, even though the GAR had tried to have her executed. Ahsoka was willing to listen to and even work with Maul to defeate Sideous and save both the Republic and the Jedi, even though she had every reason to want to see them both fall. Ahsoka saved Maul from certain death (twice) when she could've easily let him die. Ahsoka saved Rex, refused to kill any of the men of Torrent Company, and went out of her way to bury and honor the men of Torrent Company with Rex even after they tried to murder her in cold blood. And that's just from Season 7 of The Clone Wars. All of this (as well as what Ahsoka does throughout Rebels) clearly shows that Ahsoka is a Jedi, regardless of what she may call herself. Labels are meaningless, actions are important, and the actions of Ahsoka throughout her adult life make it clear that Ahsoka is not only a Jedi, she is the perfect Jedi. Sorry for the wall of text (and repeating myself on more than a few occasions), but that's how I look at all of this.

Largely yes, but not completely. Consider her duel with Darth Vader on Malachor, after he claims he destroyed Anakin, She says she will avenge him. Vader calls her out, that this is not the Jedi way, and she disdainfully states "I am NO Jedi". and proceeds to attack first, letting her thirst for vengeance and her hatred of Vader fuel her attack.

There was a part in the Mandolorian where she is giving Mando instructions on bringing Grogu to the seeing stone and that if he is lucky there will be a Jedi who hears him. “Then again there aren’t many of us (Jedi) left” So I think that dialogue has some weight to it that I thought might factor into your equation about Asoka being a Jedi. I could totally see her going to Lothal temple to consult Yoda for answers, so it’s totally possible she may have told Yoda she was ready to be a Jedi again and Yoda could have made her a knight before he died. About the phrase "beating a dead horse": That´s the point: It wouldn´t be nothing but relief for your frustration, but it doesn´t get the horse to move. So, you´re still stuck pushing the wagon. about Ahsokas duels against Vader and Maul: each of them works for three or four of the trials: It´s the trial of ability, flesh and courage. If you were lured in an ambush, it would cover the trial of insight as well. If the sith used psychological warfare against you, it would even qualify for the trial of mind. To me it´s mostly a formality, that she isn´t a jedi. It doesn´t mean anything, but I think all personal, emotional stakes of ahsoka died the day the council decided to throw her in front of the bus, so that might be why she was so averse to being called a jedi.

Ahsoka was never meant for the Jedi imo, Anakin didn't just train her as a Jedi he trained her as a warrior. Her fighting style shows that unlike other Jedi of the time she is powerful on offence and defense, where most others were not. Her battle with Maul was a great demonstration of this. He gave her a greater understanding of right and wrong than most, I believe this is why she left the order. She knew through him the Jedi were flawed and when they chose to abandon her, she saw the error in their philosophy. She has died twice in cannon, being saved by the life essence of the sister and again by the intervention of Ezra Bridger in the world between worlds. I don't think this was by accident, she has a destiny that is playing out imo. Also random thought to consider while writing this, Anakin as the chosen one brought balance to the force not by destroying the Sith, but by bringing down the Jedi who had lost their moral compass. The survivors of which in particular Padewans have then been shown to have become greater Jedi that they could have in the order.

The use of the term 'Jedi' is used to introduce casual viewers to Ashoka's force abilities. But, technically, you can't call yourself a black belt unless sensei awards it. Not sure 'relevant experience' counts as the qualifications to be a Jedi.

@jetblast190 Жыл бұрын
The part that concerns me most about the Ahsoka series is that writing Thrawn into the series as an adaptation to Heir to the Empire does not fit with the current cannon as written by Timothy Zahn in the Thrawn trilogy and Thrawn: Ascendancy prequel trilogy where his primary loyalty is to the Chiss Ascendancy and joining the Empire was an end to the means to defend his people from the Grysk whom he sees as a threat to the entire galaxy. "There are things in the universe that are simply and purely evil. A warrior does not seek to understand them, or to compromise with them. He seeks only to obliterate them." This is the Thrawn we should get.
@TheOuterRim_G Жыл бұрын
I agree. And nothing says we won’t. Maybe Ahsoka isn’t aware of the facts of Thrawn. Only what she’s known from him during Rebels.
@jetblast190 Жыл бұрын
@@TheOuterRim_G It’s Ahsoka! So I’m going to enjoy it regardless, but I hope the Thrawn vs Grysk theory that we both seem to support is the story we get. If not, I’m going to trust Dave Filoni. He stated in an interview not long after the conclusion of Rebels that he’d mapped out how Ahsoka’s story ends. I’m confident that the Ahsoka series and his movie will be the culmination of his vision.

@jetblast190 Жыл бұрын
@@jasensigafuse7130 IMO, replacing Luke with Ahsoka works best, or perhaps only works if the story leads them into an alliance with Thrawn against the Grysk as teased in the new novels. That would also provide an adequate explanation as to why none of them appeared in the ST. If not, I share your concern.

She is beyond what a tradional Jedi is. She is more atuned to the light side, than even Obi Wan was. She is a Light Sider through and through. She is pure. So Jedi is just a term, so normal mortals understand a bit about, what is a Jedi. She is more, that's why basicly, she is a Jedi, but more. I totally believe that she was in every way a mentor for Luke. She would never call herself a Jedi, but she was, and more. So the term Jedi for her is not wrong, in any way. 🤔

I've always said she was Jedi. Looking it from a Shakespearian way, what is in a name? A rose is a rose and smells just as sweet. Ahsoka may not have taken in the title if Jedi, but her actions and decisions (post Martez sisters) screams JEDI. Just as a Sith doesn't have the title bestowed on them, it's their action with the force that defines them as such. Thar and supposedly the eyes, but that could be they have too much spice in their system. Wrong franchise? OOPS. My point being that Ahsoka has learned and is learning about the Force. I suspect she would transcend into a Will when time comes. No amount of name calling will change the fact that she is Jedi.

I’m so sick of Disneys girlboss agenda . I feel that was the real reason why we got a Zeb cameo in mando , to explain why he isn’t in Ahsoka without saying why he’s not in Ahsoka. And the only two male roles are both bad guys and kinda seems like they are even going to push Thrawn to the background for Morgan Elsabeth. I hope I am wrong but given Disneys history and the announcement of Ray coming back ( nothing against daisy I actually think she’s a great actress and kinda hot ) my hopes for this show have dwindled after carefully dissecting the trailer. That being said it’s Star Wars and weather I love the new show or not I’m still going to watch it lol

I have two children, both girls and I want someplace for them to see what they can be - not literally but allegorically. As a proud dad, I have no jssue with the girlboss agenda. I don't want my girls to be held back or down by entitled men. By the way, Ahsoka as girlboss happened while Lucas still had the reins.
@jasensigafuse7130 Жыл бұрын
@@teejay1035 it’s fine to have strong female characters and role models I think it’s a wonderful concept until it narrates and focus every thing on that one thing. The ot had Leah and didn’t have to sacrifice the story or dilute/eliminate Luke or Han, the pt had padmae who was a noble Queen and then a senator and still had many men also shine, clone wars had Bo-Katan Padmae Ahsoka all strong empowering women and more still didn’t have to sacrifice the integrity of the dude’s, rebel’s also had a very diverse cast and still great storytelling. Yet we get the st and they make Every man a soy boy chump they totally cucked Luke emasculated Po dameran totally ruined Finn ( that could have been a great character ark if done right) season 3 of mando Din apparently isn’t competent at anything but flying his n1 and hanging in the background and apparently forgot how to swim ( other than the gate in his way he had little issues in s2e3 ) and the only two men depicted in the extended trailer for Ahsoka were both bad guy’s . I have no issues with promoting a strong female lead which is easily done with a character like Ahsoka but not when it comes at the expense of degrading or eliminating all the males . Star Wars is a vast universe with many forms of life (not just women) also did you notice the hologram of the new counsel with monmotha? All five were women . And yea we might be getting a scene or two of flashback Anikan or even a scene of a force ghost but in a vast universe with umpteen different species the only few that are able to stand up and fight are Ahsoka Sabine and Hera? O and chopper. Now the action looked great Roseario Dawson is awesome as Ahsoka and the chick they got to play Sabine looks like she was born to play her Hera will be pretty cool to see in live action. I digress we won’t actually know until it comes out but from first glance it seems like another political narrative driven Disney fan fic. Like I said I hope I’m wrong

It's the Lightsabers and the ability to use the Force. Most of the older generations remember the Jedi and associate them with those traits-lightsaber and Force Use. Ahsoka uses both Lightsaber and the Force so yes, she LOOSELY falls under the category of Jedi. The Thing is Not many Regular run of the mill Galactic Citizens know what actually went on behind temple doors. Ahsoka did. Because she left that way of life she does not Identify as a Jedi because she doesn't agree with their teachings and as far as she is concerned that is what a Jedi is, someone who follows the teachings of the Order she grew up in so in this case, No. Ahsoka is NOT a Jedi BECAUSE she doesn't follow the Code she was taught in the Jedi Temple as a Youngling. But is Star Wars has taught us anything (Mando case in point) There is usually another "Way" Ahsoka took her training back to it's very roots and found that the Jedi weren't always as Bureaucratic and willing to throw their own under the bus. She found the original teachings of the Peace Keepers which is different. That still doesn't make her a Jedi simply because the title means something different to her than it does to the rest of the Galaxy.
@TheOuterRim_G Жыл бұрын
It would also depend on how those practicing view the Jedi. Is it the teachings she didn't agree with or the political hypocrisy? Maybe she left the order (definitely) because the Jedi had lost their way from the founding principles of the teachings. With the Jedi Order gone, she...and maybe Luke...can get back to what the Jedi were meant to be. Thus creating a newer version of the Jedi that grounds itself in what it was truly founded to be originally. If an average citizen were to see someone use the Force and carry a lightsaber the word Jedi automatically comes to mind for them. Hence Anakin asking Qui-Gon Jinn if he was a Jedi. So, the word can be loose to describe the Force (for citizens). And while they can practice Jedi teachings and be a "Jedi" maybe they don't follow the Jedi Order. One can be a Christian without being Catholic.

@@TheOuterRim_G I think it is a bit harsh, because she was right, and we don't know what became of her, and in the long run it was better for Ashoka to leave the order. The only way to open her friends eyes to the hypocrisy of the order might have been to betray her. She might have saved Ashoka's life but doing that.
