Baracuda 8's are superb in both my HW97 and 98. They compare favourably with JSB's........as in, many less damaged pellets in the tin !!!!

Mat. You have GOT to be more careful. Rich is mobilising the farmers to root you out. He's at his most vulnerable when the shed is moving. You'll want to use silenced pellets (like in the review) with extra poison. Rich is a larger man so opt for elephant poison to be sure. GOOD LUCK

Same set up as Myself Richard but in .177..glad i waited till they improved/upgraded the firmware on the hik cheetah. Just out of curiosity,ive put a scope height of 2.70 inches and it seems pretty much bang on. Regards

Great video. Can I ask you … Do you know extactly where to shoot for a brain shot? Heart/Lung shot? When you go for heart/lung shot, do they run far? Asking cause it’s a lingering Rat inside home . Don’t want it rotting in walls or hidden spaces….. thank you

Enjoyed your video' Matt,i liked the pellets test if you get some time try the bisley long range gold, my sub 12 works really well even at distance 50 m ,i use AA diabolo field 8.4G as well i don't have to make any adjustments on scope FX impact MK2.177

Im currently using JSB Hades .22 Diabolo 500 pellets = £20. You wont be disappointed with the results. 15,89 gr in sub 12 Gamo Coyote with Hawke 3 9x50 AO IR scope at 22mtrs the pellets follow the same hole.

@theshootingshow You will find they are packed inside the screw top tin with foam top and bottom, it saves them from slipping around as you use them.

HI Nigel. I prefer .22 for ratting and with the scope set close to the barrel I find that a 20m zero allows me to take shots 10-20m without having to aim off. Thanks for watching.

To obtain any valuable results, an accuracy test should be performed with at least one precision rifle. A basic rifle is hardly helpful.

I explained that the Baracuda 8s gave good results through several guns, and that my results should only be used as a guide because different guns shoot differently with different ammo. Some of my precision air rifles are very pellet-fussy, and could have given far worse results. The only way to get a true evaluation of any pellet is to run them through your own gun. I find your comment interesting. Where is the value in testing through a precision rifle for the majority of people who cannot afford a precision rifle? Surely, for the majority of people, knowing how the pellets perform through a budget rifle is more helpful? Also, whatever rifle is used, we all know pellets will perform differently in different air rifles. Whether a precision rifle is used or not is irrelevant unless everyone else uses the same rifle.

@@guysingleton9611 The supposed objective was to test a pellet, and therefore it is necessary to eliminate all other variables. The best way to eliminate other variables is to test using a quality rifle that gives consistent results. Meaningful testing of a pellet really requires a lot more work and equipment.

@Marcus1954s I'm not sure that makes logical sense. The only thing that matters to any one person is how accurate the pellet is in their air rifle. It is irrelevant how accurate a pellet is in anyone else's air rifle, regardless of whether it has been tested in a precision air rifle or not. If Mat had used a precision air rifle ( whatever that means) and the pellet performed badly, it still wouldn't mean it would perform badly in another air rifle. To me it seems irrelevant which air rifle it is tested in to anyone else other than the owner of the air rifle the pellet is going to be used in. Best wishes

@@guysingleton9611 Matt listed it as a pellet review. Of course each person is interested in what works with their own rifle but that is of little use to everyone else. Matt's test does not test/review a pellet, it tests the pellets used with that single rifle. If I wanted to reach some useful conclusions in testing a pellet, I would remove/reduce inconsistencies/variables and therefore choose a number of quality consistent precision rifles with different quality barrels and many different quality pellets to allow a comparison. I cannot see the point in testing one pellet with one rifle, especially as the rifle is basic in construction and has issues; such as inefficient use of air......all leading to unnecessary inconsistencies which are an unhelpful in any test. There is a lack of objective comparison with other quality pellets. A practical and wide ranging verified test could be performed by asking each shooter at a particular competition (or many club shoots) to shoot a card with ten shots at 30m using their rifle/pellet combo and submit them to summarise the group sizes in mm/ with details of equipment used. Such results would be very useful to shooters and could lead to significant change and improvements by both rifle, barrel and pellet manufacturers.
