My wife and I finally are able to afford the Flying Cloud 25fb. We ordered the back hatch option. Very excited. We looked at so many RVs, made so many phone calls to manufacturers, watched tons of videos and yes we feel very comfortable with our order. Happy camping everyone.

@@guthrie1960 So far 3 camping outings. I pull the RV with a Ram 1500. Went through Montana mountains, no grade was so steep that I couldn't accelerate. (Not saying you should) I had Airstream install Blue Ox SwayPro. This is not as hard as it looks to hookup or remove. I had a harder time with the awning than the hitch. I drove through some strong winds, 18 wheelers were having a hard time as were a few RVs. I had very little sway if any. The RV has no issues. The solar permits me to keep the roof fans on while it sits in the driveway. This is amazing as it keeps the Airstream dry and cool. I camped once with just electricity, once with water and elect. and once with water, elect, and drain hookup. OMG I love being on a drain lol. I have the backup camera so backing is very easy. To get used to backing, just go to a Walmart parking lot or some place wide open. Watch youtube vids 1st. As for camping with the airstream, it's better than a hotel imo (Not upscale hotel) My daughter, her 2 boys, 2 dogs and my wife and I could sit at the table and eat. My wife sat beside me and ate off her lap. The RV is a joy to pull and live in. I can see why some people live in the RV. The beds are hard. I like it, my wife got a mattress topper. Everything works as it should. No issues at all. The stairs are funky but once you lower them a few times, you get it. The awning is another story. The awning works great once you learn the tricks of using it. WATCH KZbin, don't listen to Airstream, they don't know how to open it lol. Seriously, this was the only feature that gave me problems. BUT!!!! Once you know how to open the awnings, it's so easy a caveman can do it. I had Airstream ceramic coat the RV. Glad I did. it sits under my neighbor's pines. NOTHING sticks! OMG it's so nice. So in short. I got a very well built RV. I love it. It's fun to use, a pleasure to be in and easy to inspect before and after camping. If you have kids, a family with 2 or 3 kids is fine imo. The bunks are GREAT for the grand-kids. I LOVE the looks of the trailer, I love camping with it. OH! The shower is GREAT! I'm 6ft. I can shower, turn and have no problems. I'm also stocky. Yes you have to watch your elbows, but a shower is very very doable. (Hot water sort of cuts on and off with the new tankless hot water system) but it's ok once you get used to how it works. I can walk front to back standing tall. Lots of storage. We haven't filled all the spaces yet. The fridge gets cold fast! I was told it can take 24hrs to reach fridge temps, not so! My freezer is below 32f after about 6 hrs. So what I do is before I leave, turn it on, let it freeze up with food inside, and the fridge stays cold for a very long time when off. Last trip we got home tired. We left everything in the fridge and the meat was still frozen. 24hrs later my beer was still cold so yeah, I drank it. You do get people asking questions when you pull into a campsite. Some people want to look inside. I don't feel I'm missing out without slideouts. In conclusion, the Airstream (25FB) is the perfect size trailer for me, my wife and 2 dogs. (Newfie and black lab). My daughter and kids can join us for meals, watch movies and we're comfortable. We all sit. This is not camping, it's Glamping! Also, I loved camping before this. But as I get older, this is more my style lol. If you don't like camping or travelling, an Airstream won't change that I don't think. But I can honestly say, the Airstream has me loving camping again. PS: Being able to stop on a long drive, use your own bathroom, feed the dogs in the trailer when it's raining, is great. The fridge stays cold so your bottled water is ice cold even though the fridge is off. No public washrooms. Keep water in the tank so you can flush and wash your hands and all is good.

@@NotThatBob thank you so much for your detailed update. We’re also looking at the flying cloud 25fb . The 2022 just came out and have some updates like the 8cb fridge. We can’t wait start our life’s with an airstream. We first looked at the globetrotter, but ups 😬 they are about 20k more than the flying cloud. Not so sure it’s worth it. @@brittabrand6645 I'm so excited for you. As I use the RV more, I love it more. It's really becoming our second home. I'm hoping all goes well for you. My airstream experience at the dealer was A1 great. These guys really did go above and beyond helping me with hooking the trailer to my truck. Hope you give us an update on where you went and how things went on the 1st trip. May I suggest for the 1st trip to find a place close to home. We had no issues, but it's nice to know your home is only a few hrs away if you need something. If you've never pulled a trailer, this can be a little scary, but I promise, it's easier than you may think. All the very best to you, and you really did make a good choice. My family has some property where my grandfather placed several travel trailers to permanently stay there. They have been there for well over 30 years. A couple became unusable after time due to weather and rodents getting inside, a good amount remain. The ones that held up the best were the airstreams. Rodents don't get inside and they are weather tight. Even after going in one maybe once a year the only thing inside is maybe dust. If we actually fixed one up (we wouldn't since they remain there) it would look brand new going down the road.

That’s great to hear! I’m looking at airstreams as an option to park semi-permanently on my land as an alternative to building a cabin plus having the added benefit of be able to take it anywhere I want to go. It’s good to hear that the rodents haven’t been an issue in your experience.

Airstream RV's are truly great! Aside from being easy on the eyes, they most certainly do offer longevity. Having said that, I need to preface the rest of my comment by stating that I thoroughly enjoy and respect the Truck King truck reviews. In that area, you guys are right up there with TFL Truck... honest... straightforward... down to Earth. Love ya! ...and now for the negativity: Airstream ARE NOT worth the money! I make no apologies. When the 3-year warranty runs out, you're on your own; and it will cost bug $$$$$ the repair one. Aside from that, despite the alleged depreciation value on them, just try and sell one for near 90% value. They're are two kinds of people on the market for used RV's: Suckers who don't do their homework; and those who won't go close to that price $$$$$. Don't get me wrong! They're great RV's, but just as with a Porsche, or any European performance car, as soon as the warranty runs out, you either need to have more money than cares in the world, or you're going broke. Modern RV construction uses materials that are lighter, stronger, more durable and offer better insulation value than what Airstream is pimping out; and for much less. This is one argument on which I cannot stand with you, Truck King... but I still love you guys!!! 😁👍

Back in high school our dad bought a used mid 70's 31' Sovereign or Excell that we live in for years. We went our separate ways but we still have it in the family. Now in need of a major restoration from the wheels to the ceiling that might even need gutting. I think it might be more expensive to rebuild it than to buy a good used bambi or safari.

Man if you think a Flying Cloud is the top of the line for Airstream......go look at a Classic. The 33' Classic will set your hair on fire its so nice. We own a 25' Flying Cloud FB and are ready to trade it off for a 28' or 30' International line or Classic. Surprised that unit does not have a full awning package. The Flying Clouds in the US that are longer than 27' have full awning packages. That's quite a price in CAD for you guys. The 30' and 33' Classic which is the Flagship of Airstream goes for 158k - 173k brand new in USD. The Flying Cloud 30' footers go for a lot less south of the border 98-109k USD. I don't think we are that far apart in our respective currencies. Pretty good walk-through all the same. Flying Cloud is just a very basic model compared to the International, Globetrotter, and Classic. Cheers!

May I? I'm a single dude who came from the military shower program...35 years ago. Ok, so I have a 23 FB with a 30 gallon tank and I take pretty quick showers. Typically I use 15% a shower. Another 5% on cooking, dishes and toilet flush and shaving, washing hand etc. 20% a day is a good average. In that time I can take roughly 4 showers (and everything else I mentioned) before running dry. So maybe 5- 7 gallons a day? Maybe I've loosened up a bit since being out of the military as 7 gallons seems a lot. Lol. Good luck.

Hands down nothing like an Airstream RV. I’ve had 2 and my second one we celebrated our 20 anniversary May 2020. with that said there are things out of Airstreams direct control, such as all appliances and electronics are now made in China. A/C, microwave oven, convection oven, gas stove and oven, water heater, water pump, Dometic refrigerator, switches, etc. I mention this because they last a fraction of time due to lack of quality which equate to more breaking down and recalls then ever before. My 20 old Airstream has only had the water pump replaced, LP tanks (i had them recertified and did not feel safe doing it again to 20 year old LP tanks) tires and brakes thus far. The profit margin in buying Chinese is huge and manufacturers, distributors, etc are drunk in greed to make more and more profit, faster and faster profit. The age of your name being a Legacy to look up to is all but gone.

Can a Tesla get charged up from the solar power panels on an AirStream? If so, one could theoretically go across country virtually nonstop, right?
@TheSyntheticOmega
@TheSyntheticOmega 2 жыл бұрын
Theoretically, yes. Realistically, no. The technology isn't there to be able to have enough solar on an RV to produce enough power to charge a Telsa battery enough for any meaningful towing. It takes about ten 300 watt panels (getting fully sun) to produce enough energy to get a Tesla enough juice to run 30 minutes and that's not even towing. So there isn't enough roof space, and towing for 10-15 minutes at a time isn't going to cut it.

They are efficient use of space trailers. Not much in wasted movement inside. I can sit at the dining table of my 23 FB reach over to the stove and grab food that I cooked. I can reach above me and grab the napkins and with a little bit of effort I can almost reach the fridge. I like that. Obviously a big Samoan family wouldn't do well in it. 😄

One of the things I've always liked about airstreams is how low to the ground they sit. I don't know why RVs have to have 3 ft of ground clearance and sit so tall in the wind

You are towing to the outdoors. Not in the city lol Steep angle gas station driveways, Dirt roads, campgrounds etc. Don't rip off your septic connections . Lift kits and bigger tires to get more clearance . Just spend $3,500 lifting my 34 ft travel trailer . Springs, blocks, rims and tires .

Sorry, having owned several RVs with slides, I would never buy one without it. Yes, Airstreams are very well built, but for the price, I could buy two of something else. Reminds me of Rolls-Royce, very well built, but very expensive for very old technology (at least until BMW bought them). If that's your thing, by all means buy one.

Well everyone wants an iPhone for a reason. If you are one of those who prefer other brands than more power to ya, it’s expensive for sure. Yes it’s a status symbol. It’s an airstream. Do you own a android trailer, how is it?
@roundpeg3239
@roundpeg3239 Жыл бұрын
@@csingle35 yes. I own a fifthwheel. Have had it for 5 years. Cost me 50 grand (half of a small airstream) and aside from some minor problems (trim) nothing major has failed. I almost exclusively boondocks with it. So jarring fire roads and long miles. I have a family of four (two kids) and put it through the ringer. I get three times the tank capacity of a typical airstream and twice the room, and quadruple the storage. Since it uses the same appliances as airstream, the only true comparison is the fuselage. Sure they have the baked potato thing going, but rivets pop, and metal rips. It has its own problems. Maybe less, but it also has less utility. But hey, it costs 4 times as much as a more useful trailer. So.. I guess there is that?

@@csingle35 also people want an iPhone for the name. It stopped being a "better" phone about a decade ago. For the same money you can get a flagship android that offers a MASSIVE amount of features and interpolability compared to an iPhone.

Lol. Ok. Keep buying throw away trailers. I'll buy once and be done with it. I'm willing to bet my Airstream will be gifted to my kids and yours will be...in the trash heap eventually. Nothing like having a throw away society that doesn't value resources. No trailer made today outside of Airstream will last 30-60 years. Refurbish it and bam, have a new shiny trailer. That's why you STILL see 1950 and older Airstreams going down the road. I've yet to see a 1960 "regular" particle board trailer going down the road. MAYBE a fiberglass one if it was garaged. Maybe. Lastly I have a 23FB and love it. I won't see my return on it but my.kkds will. Can't say that about any other trailer.

BUT to be fair they take a beating like no other trailer out there so by default their life expectancy won't be long. I'll reserve judgement on Black series as some corners have been cut others not so. Still an impressive trailer. Don't know much about Lance trailers made today? WOW!! someones sure been drinking his share of the Airstream kool aid hey.... lol Now one can say..." its worth it" Cant really argue with that. As its an subjective statement. Certainly NOT worth it to me. Also...just my opinion. But here's the thing. Ones entitled to their own opinion but....NOT their own facts. The iconic look. Beautiful yes. I like them too. But while sheet aluminum may be a skin great for airplanes. Its NOT so great for RVs. Sure its corrosion resistant but thats it. Everything else about it is a negative. Rivets work loose. Seams on roofs leak. It scratches and dents very easily and if you run into a decent hail storm your trailers practically a write off. How is that better? NOPE You say they are well insulated? You must be kidding. HA.Nothing but Glass and metal with a couple of inches of insulation. Its likely the WORST in the industry. This alone is why we didn't buy one ( well main reason) in 2018. We bought a Grand Design instead. Top of the chart as for as insulation goes. The difference between our GD and my cousins Airstream in this regard makes the Airstream look ridiculous. Then there's the ground clearance. The nonexistent exterior storage. Servicing the roof is a nightmare, tank sizes etc. These are not opinions. They're facts. But if you're buying an new RV largely as a status symbol. In that you want to look down your nose at all your fellow campers in the RV park (cause that's where Airstreams go). And the many negatives don't matter. Or maybe you just you dont know any better. Then hey!... the Airstreams just what you need!
