I know that every generation says the same, but this has never been mostly true, “there’s no music like this anymore”. People like APP and other bands of their time were REAL MUSICIANS. Those times will not come back. 😞

Chris Rainbow had one of the absolute most beautiful male voices in the modern music era. How incredibly underrated he was. I always thought he sounded a lot like Art Garfunkel, but honestly I think his voice was even better than his. I mean I could listen to this song over and over again and still be mesmerized by that amazing, beautiful, effortless tenor Chris Rainbow had, as well as his unusual and unique phrasing in this song. Simply perfect.

Reminds me of the fall of mankind. Not in a biblical sense. But in the slow wearing down of life that lays in store for us all. This song gave me Melancholy feelings. And I don't know if I said that right.

I could understand why one would arrive at that assumption, that's okay if it works for the assuming, and makes you a better person, and that's a good thought to have had. However, the irony is ,... It's a song about a casino, and particularly in Las Vegas, i believe 3 songs really are about casinos . Eye in the sky (CCTY,s in the ceiling watching every corner of the casino) Ps, it's not a love song, and THIS two part song, The turn of a friendly card. To put things in perspective, this song is about a habitual Gambler, whose life depends on the cards at hand, and he reads the signs 8n the desert as he makes his way through his mistakes ... Mainly of gambling... Mostly the music talks emotionally the words are just there to guide you... I also thought on the same lines when i first hear this album and this song... i though there was a spiritual or philosophical narrative... especially, "But a pilgrim must follow in search of a shrine, as he centers a Sacred Cathedral" i thought it was about having a personal spiritual relationship with God, in the midst of a religious group setting.. and to always have that personal relationship, as a shrine is a one on one space as opposed tona cathedral which is a mass setting, with that being said, it's more Hope because that's the last line of the first song. (If at all you are looking for a meaning in that sense)

One of the greatest albums of the 20th and 21st centuries. Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson (R.I.P. Eric) the two geniuses of the Project have the noteworthy awareness and talent of combining the rock band, symphony orchestra, and choir(s) that other rock artists contemporary and progressive lack or refuse to consider when making recordings. Chris Rainbow's vocals add to the beauty of these two songs (Parts 1 and 2). So, what is the album released in 1980 all about? The potential dangers and risks of gambling that can lead to avarice, addiction, bankruptcy, and even suicide as a result of deep financial indebtedness.

I've got allmost all of his albums on vinyl and this song came as a single edition. On the Album it is at the beginning and the end of one side. It is my most favourite song. Chris Rainbow does the singing part on this song. Parson is a great musician. He worked as an assistent technician on Abbey Road from the Beatles. Worked on the Hollies, Wings and Pink Floyd. He produced for John Miles, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel and Al Stewart. And got an Grammy Award for producing "Dark side of the moon" by Pink Floyd.
