Very cool series Martin and Pete. Seeing this cool artwork is one reason I do miss vinyl. I loved seeing those sealed 8-tracks!

Popoff and Pardo are at it again with Part 2 of their latest discussion of album covers. Just as enjoyable as Part 1 and some great selections made. Can hardly wait to see their next approach to an album cover discussion - whenever that might occur. Otherwise, looking forward to the next episode. Thanks, gents. There ya go!

A Trick Of The Tail is one of my favourite covers and inner gatefold together with placing the characters on the inner record sleeve. I always felt it perfectly captured the music in each track and love the colours used. I also think that Wind and Wuthering could have been just as great if it had been gatefolded, such a shame they didn’t do this and wonder if there was a budgetary reason? Be great if Pete and Martin could do more album cover shows from time to time, so many good album covers across the genres and lots of naff ones too!

All four of the original line-up are geniuses (genii?). I met Gouldman once when he was touring 10cc as the last original member and (admittedly excitedly) told him so, whereupon he looked at me side on with a half-smile, as if to say “Thanks, and your point is?”

Surprised Martin or Pete didn't mention the double entendre for Deceptive Bends by 10cc as "the bends" is a term used for decompression sickness - happens when a scuba diver ascends too quickly.

great xamples o' art created to be studied whilst listening to the vinyl - usually lying down staring up at arms length until they got tired (but by then it was time to flip the album and begin the search for hidden meanings again...)

I literally thought of the Tormato cover just before it was shown haha. Also, the Pieces of Eight cover and close ups of people's faces reminded me of the Rolling Stones' "Black and Blue" which also happens to have a blue sky in the background.

I loved part one and was looking forward to part two, and Pete, Martin, you didn't disappoint. House on the Hill, oh my God. We would get stoned and listen to this album [which is very good] and just stare at the album cover and talk about what it meant. Also, Back to the Bars was recording live at the Cleveland Agora which I have been to many times. Great show. Love album covers.

Streetheart played here in the Falls, at Uncle Sam's, and I went to see them, and they were indeed fantastic live. Spider was on bass. I'm not sure which album was out at the time. Kenny Shields was known for his tambourine stand, which sat at the side of the stage. He would play the tambourine when he didn't have to sing, and he would toss it back to the stand when it was time, and he never missed! Spider later played with Tom Cochrane and I think with Lee Aaron as well.

I love Def Leppard's 'High 'n' Dry' album cover, which was originally intended for a Pink Floyd album cover. It kind of fits the album title in a weird way because the guy is jumping (from a high diving board) into an empty pool and he's completely dry, I don't know. It's weird, but it's iconic.

I remember reading one of the reviews of "Tormato" that said it looked like the critics got to it before it was released. The lightbulb shooting through space was the British cover for "Electric Light Orchestra II", by the way.

Along the lines of album covers, maybe you could do show where different covers were released depending on region etc. I know Australian covers for AC/DC and The Angels (Angel City) were different in the U.S for the earlier releases. Artist also re-released albums with different covers as well. The first six Gamma Ray albums come to mind. I'm sure there are lots more.

Martin is in my good books. I was hoping he would include Streetheart Under Heaven, Over Hell. I just looked back to my comment in part one. I didn’t realize Martin left a comment to my comment that he might include Streetheart in this show. So my comment did some good, which I am happy about. In that part 1 comment I also mentioned I bought some Streetheart merch and it was shipped that day. What do you know, today that merch arrived. I have a Streetheart toque, which will definitely get used because it’s damn cold here in BC, and a jacket. I also got two free CDs, one signed by the band.

Pete did a concert review of Halestorm supporting Alice Cooper a couple of years ago. I would check that out. I am pretty sure Tragically Hip have been mentioned on this channel if not had a video devoted them- am sure Martin Popoff has talked about them on a couple of these Friday shows, can’t remember which. Pete talked about Crack the Sky in a Forgotten Favorites Prog 70s video.

@@jimmycampbell78 Martin did mention The Tragically Hip one time on one of the Friday shows. Pete has never mentioned them not even once, don't think he is familiar with them at all. At least it added some colour to what otherwise would have been a pretty depressing cover, but it still isn’t great, and it was very disappointing when it was released, especially after GFTO. Such a troubled album, band falling apart and mixed song quality, though there are some great tracks. Apparently still unable to do anything about the poor production / sound, although wiki says that Brian Kehew discovered that applying Dolby noise reduction works wonders. maybe one fro Steven Wilson…. I would have loved it if the band had re-recorded it maybe replacing Circus and Onward with a new single 10 mins track, but maybe that’s just me! And the classic line-up never properly worked together again. Pretty divisive album all round!

Maybe it's because it was the first YES album "in my time" (I was 12 when it came out) but I've always liked the Going for the One cover. I know a lot of YES fans don't, but I do. Tormato, on the other hand...ugh! One of the WORST Hipgnosis covers ever. Got to respectfully disagree with Martin on And Then There Were Three...I never "got" that one. What's with the weird neon (?) "Genesis" on the inside of the gatefold? Just a mess, IMHO.
