Ah Subaru... I don't understand why you're not listening to your current long-time loyal customers. That giant touch screen in my 23 Outback Wilderness is my biggest gripe about the vehicle. Having it as an option I could understand, but having it as the only option is not ideal. You should of kept physical HVAC and other vehicle controls and the Infotainment separate. It really sucks trying to keep your eyes on the road and peck away at a screen for all vehicle functions. I'll definitely hesitate to purchase another Subaru if you keep going down this path.

Doesn't matter unfortunately... the auto industry follows trends, and for some ungodly reason these tablet screens are "in". I did try it once in an Outback and it wasn't as bad as I was expecting, but I prefer the 'normal' screen in my '22 Forester.

My opinion on design: 1. I like that they've changed the roof racks to be more practical with flush rails! (for the exception of models with sunroof) 2. The middle of the car looks OK, I would say it looks quite generic 3. I really liked the trim at the bottom of the car, its a pretty good design! 4. The pattern inside looks cute To the old ppl who complain that they removed physical buttons: They actually didn't remove physical buttons, they just moved them. Majority of buttons located on steering wheel, a few on the driver's door and some near the tablet, some are also near gear stick. ALL PHYSICAL BUTTONS ARE PRESENT! You are not supposed to use tablet while driving! While driving you can only use it for: - maps/navigation - camera usage, eg while parking For ppl who afraid there could be problems as it's a new generation. They are NOT using new technology, so the chance of getting a problem is low. They've used this technology for years in subaru outback and now in crosstreck 2024. I personally like their changes, I think subaru have done a great job! (No I am not working for subaru, just personal opinion after test driving old forester and outback with new technology, i definitely wait for new forester)

I don't understand all the hate tbh. This looks to me like an modern interpretation of 2nd gen forester which all of the world loves. The tablet is great for carplay and navigating without any stupid phone holders, sure not having physical buttons for vents or seats isn't pleasing but still it's great! Forester isn't meant for having high power, it's in cars name that it's for people who loves versatility of offroad and city, get impreza if you want the power, Subaru gives you the choice between the models. People complaining about the spirit of Subaru and such, yes it's true they lost it as all other car makers in a way since 2008 because most of them went for cheaper manufacturing cost and it confirmed in expense of the owner because you pay more for car maintenance but give me a car maker that is as reliable and as safe within such price range, you won't find it.

You gotta understand - on KZbin, there are a large amount of Subaru haters that get off by just bashing the hell out of the cars. Most of them will tell BS stories about cars they never owned, ask whether problems have been resolved that were resolved ten years ago, or just spew childish BS about cars they have no experience with, and never had any intention (or money) to buy. Yet, none of these bedwetters can explain why Subaru's sales continue to climb every year, or why Consumer Reports continues to rate Subaru as one of the safest and best cars in the market.

this looks like gen2 to you??. i can appreciate the exteriors of gen1-3. but, i wanna see what the Ioniq XRT is looking like. to be fair, i was just googling how to get new gen seats into a pre 2013 model 😅. interior amenities & stylings are what i like on this. i think the front grill will grow on me. i like the rear taillights. but the silhouette? nah. the contour above the tires? double nah. will we ever get another robust turbo? 🤷🏾‍♀️ a 2006 XT model was my first Forester experience. one day there may be an EV version with enough torque to make a new Forester FEEL how they used to🤞🏾
@oyoyoyo7624

“not meant for high power”? you know there was a Forester STI before? do you know Subaru was once proud to make the Forester in a way that WRX & STI parts could be sourced for use in the Forester? you know many people LOVE the turbocharged XT models. it’s not cost effective, but for me, i loved driving the XT for road trips. i felt safer sitting so high up in a car on the highways. it gave me peace of mind that i could bolt faster than most cars whenever i needed it! i’m not a speed demon, but driving a turbo forester is likely the closest i’ve come to holding a handgun-their power makes people feel safe. weird analogy, i know😅. i’ve never touched a gun, which is why i want modern Foresters to provide me with the power & safety the classic models offer. to me, the spirit of •a vehicle that holds it’s own, nimbly & safely-a small SUV that feels like you’re driving car instead of a truck (the way they handle is a big one for me) •forester is: canopy/headroom/visibility, extensions of them being made with the outdoors in mind

For what it's worth, we have the current Subaru Forester with the standard 2.5L boxer. We live in the Rockies and it pulls the mountain really well and is peppy from the start. I test drove the Outback with a 2.4 turbo and was frankly underwhelmed by it. 2.5L was smoother and quicker. All in my not scientific, humble opinion of course. But, that said, not seeing anything that would cause me to swap upgrade from the current model ... the 2025 upgrades are also a bit underwhelming.

@@nickcoleman Thanks for the comparison, Nick! I don't doubt the peppiness of the 2.5 Forester. I had one as a loaner for 3 days. It was a nice driver. However, I'm used to more power. Spoiled with a WRX early on. The Outback Wilderness XT with the 2.4 definitely had a smooth and strong pull. Not great, but it may have to do with the heavier weight compared to a Forester. No performance increase from the current gutless Forester, bland styling that looks like a Ford and people dont want to control everything through a giant screen. If I wanted all of that tech/computer screen nonsense, I would buy a TEsla and I will NEVER buy a Tesla. Simplicity and Utility Please. That is what Subaru Brand was built upon. Upon initial consideration, my thoughts gravitated towards the 2015 Ford Explorer. I would recommend mitigating losses by engaging the services of a skilled head designer. Examining the positive impact on Kia and Hyundai/Genesis sales post head designer changes underscores the potential benefits. While acknowledging Subaru's reputation for reliable vehicles, it's evident that improvements in design are essential.

Too boxy. The only feature I like is the front wheel well vents that give it a slghtly quieter ride. Just like others here, I agree that having the HVAC in the touch screen is a MAJOR discration hazard while driving. My 2024 is only a couple months old, so hopefully by the time I'm ready to trade, they will have put the love back into it and listened to long time owners.

I am glad I bought the 2023 Forester Sport ed. The new model doesn't add value to a great car. Minues the lost of few horse power and probably torque due to heavy material use to build it. I assume they will increase the price a bit too. The only I like about the new model is the availability of hybird battery for additional power. Like most Subaru enthusiasts, these mid size do need an upgrade in power so they can climb up the mountain for family apple picking trip of the occasional off road adventures. The mechanical safety of the Subaru Forester is second to none which is the real seller.

The simulated gear shifts with the CVT diminish fuel economy (especially around town). Let's get rid of the "shifts" and keep the better efficiency. There should be an update made available to revert back to the regular more economical "gearing" (or lack there of), like with my old 2016 Forester.

I have to admit I like the new exterior design, and the new touch screen. But a number of missed upgrades. More powerful engine would have been nice. After watching a number of overview videos, the doors don’t seem to open as wide as the current model. I was really hoping this new model would have the same, if not a slightly larger boot space when compared to the current Toyota Rav4/Honda CRV. I was surprised the new Forester doesn’t offer 4 way lumbar, at any Forrester model (especially to the top spec model). Lastly it appears the back middle seat, seatbelt is still coming from the roof instead of the seat. Overall I like this new design

I have many different opinions. Here’s a short version for whoever cares to read. As a brand ambassador I think it’s great. It’s got the famous AWD, safety features, comfort features and some fancy buttons. As an enthusiast it’s a bit bland (not terrible though!). I think it’s a little bland because I don’t see changes to the powertrain (I stand to be corrected) and no manual option. Also by 2025 some of the features will just be run of the mill. Like the 2024 Crosstrek has the upgraded eyesight along with the Outback sooo why wait with the Forester? I get Subaru's cars are updated every five years so it’s not time for the Forester upgrade yet, however Subaru should just offer it now which would even the playing field per se. As a side note: if you like the dual screens I’d get one now before it’s all 11.6 inch ones!! At the end of the day I’m not sure how I feel! Perhaps it’s just that I love my Subie how it is now and change seems hard (not necessarily bad). Time will tell, maybe the OG Subie Squad is just getting ran out of business 😢. UPDATE: I just saw another video taking a deep dive into the vehicle. Apparently it's still the 2.5 liter naturally aspirated flat four. We went down to 180 hp.

@@smellybearc7411 Some people would really like that! The new thing people are understandably worried about is how this tech will all hold up? Simplifying it would mean that issues would be more mechanical and then DIY fixes could be done easier (if that's what someone chooses to do, it's more budget friendly). As an enthusiast I think the focus should have been on the power terrain, entry and exit angles for offroading, adding a stock hitch, reinforced roof racks, better recovery points and making a manual option!!

@@hypotenuse314 A genuine question. Cosmetic changes aside, is this pretty much the same forester as before?
@hypotenuse314
@hypotenuse314 10 ай бұрын
@@smellybearc7411 I would say that you are correct with your statement. As far as my knowledge goes (I am no employee of Subaru so I'm limited to my personal research) this is essentially the same Forester as before with the 11 inch screen. The screen capabilities seem to be the same as the other Subarus that have the upgrade. Likewise, the Eyesight system is the newest version of the Eyesight we're seeing in Outbacks, Crosstreks, etc. The video mentioned the foot activated opening gate (the Outback has a similar feature). I will not keep listing things but yeah a lot of stuff is the same. I have heard many people say quite confidently that there will be an E-boxer (hybrid) coming in 2026 along with a Wilderness edition. This is also not new since, in select countries like Australia, had an E-Boxer Forester that was never offered in the USA. Of course we presently have the Forester Wilderness no huge surprise either. This is borderline cosmetic but the entry/exit angles might have been slightly upgraded too, I dunno. Going along with the borderline cosmetic thing, Cargo capacity could have changed. I feel like I caught a glimpse of info about the cargo capacity but really do not recall so please don't quote me there. Are you looking into getting a Forester etc? Promised them I shall go back today and book it; and if possible take delivery. I came home and searched for a video to share with my dad back home. I chanced upon the 2025 variant that's just around the corner...as per Subaru, launching in Spring 2024. Now I am totally lost. Should I buy the 2024 or but the 2025? I don't mind the 1000 dollar increase, but the touch screen looks nice and overall the 2025 feels more premium from the videos. What should I do? Thanks in advance
