I feel like Toyota would be shooting themselves in the foot if they don’t add the 2.0 liter hybrid system for the next gen Corolla. The current 1.8 lacks the necessary power to compete with the new civic hybrid coming out with 200hp. They will lose a ton of sales over to Honda if they don’t upgrade it, or it might incentivize people to go more expensive like the new Camry, Corolla cross or the Prius

I think the 1.8l hybrid system is just fine for the Corolla to keep prices relatively low. Toyota needs to provide the Prius a unique selling point and the 2.0l setup is one of those. Also, I expect the Civic Hybrid to have a significant price premium over the Corolla and compete more against the Prius.
@robob2217 ай бұрын
@@mark_u I agree. Another comment about specs when they never drove the actual car. People who project their opinion of cars success based on specifications need to be smacked in the face with real life. Drive the FING car! I own the SE hybrid and drove the civic base engine and the Impreza 2.5 RS engine. The Hybrid 1.8 pulls smoother and harder in the MID range than any of those cars. It’s not about the total power, it’s about when you get the power in the rev range. Not only that, the pedal response is actually immediate because the electric motor fills in the gaps where the engine would naturally have to rev to get going. What you get is a really smooth experience, I would never go back to a N/A eco engine after owning the 1.8 hybrid. My next car will be a plug in hybrid or the next gen hybrid system or simply full EV if I am staying in the eco class car market. The sacrifices in efficiency when you go to a N/A sports car for the sake of fun are huge now. I really do want a WRX though!

We just ordered a rav4 2024 hybrid and they said that redesigned is not coming until 2026 latest. Because the dealership already have details on rav4 2025.
@KirkKreifels7 ай бұрын
Yes the Rav redesign is for 2026 model year.
@doziershaw97657 ай бұрын
Most new model years show up around summer / fall of the previous year, so yeah technically in 2026 but realistically in 2025 as a 2026 model. These same dealers will also gladly sell you an outgoing generation while they have the new generation models currently in transit to their dealership

I wish that toyota would consider making a corolla gr sedan, because the hatch back is really not tall people friendly. I am about 6'1" and i barely fit in the back of the hatchback corolla. But i fit in the sedan good.

Why would Toyota introduce a Corolla wagon when there is the Corolla Cross?

What about a BEV Corolla minimum 64kWh pack? To take on the Bolt!

The answer is wait because you're never gonna get your hands on a corolla hybrid. Their supply is a joke.

I think Toyota is going to do exactly what they have with the Camry. Not quite a full redesign (mostly aesthetic changes, fine tuning, etc). The chassis will likely be exactly the same. Most of the modifications will be aesthetic. I would expect a push for hybrid only as well and the Hatchback being offered as a hybrid in North America finally. I would also expect Toyota to finally drop the 2ZR engine for the M20A only due to its superior efficiency and power. I think there will be more focus on economy than even in the new Prius which is now more of a premium vehicle. The Corolla must still offer trims that will get the best fuel economy thanks to narrow tires and small rims. After all, economy and reliablity is the Corolla buyer's most important desires above all else.

You can't keep wanting nicer product with the prices staying the same. To be less expensive you have to make some small compromises. What are the US manufacturers doing in the space of hybrid cars?

They have to. It’s already good as is. I have a 2020 LE and everything is so refined and the fuel mileage for ICE is still good up to over 40mpg

a simplified BZ3 design for the new Corolla should be a much better looking vehicle. What I really dislike about the interiors are the soft-tex seat covers. A Hybrid AWD Tourer would be awesome.

3:29 Gross those cars are gross. The BZ stuff is just yack. Its like Tesla but on the opposite side of the yack spectrum. Designers are really off track lately with a lot of brands.

If everything is going to be Hybridized, wouldn't the cost of repairing them also go down or will it be a huge problem like repairing EVs? thats my biggest question. Back then repairing hybrids was also expensive so idk whats going to happen, I just know EVs are not meant for everyone and everything.
@alvinsimba7347 ай бұрын
The Corolla will still keep the gas option for most people. Hybrids with time hopefully will be cheaper but for now my advice is if your vehicle is still working the way it should then keep it and at the same time letting those in government know that EVs are not the way to go just yet

Honda has always beat Toyota with making the most space from a car.
@0bzen227 ай бұрын
They are phasing out the 1.8L in Europe, and the price with the 2.0L has shrunk too (it's also available for touring and hatchback). I wouldn't be surprised if the Corolla hybrid will be 2.0L only in a year. They could gain an inch of space with slimmer front seats. As for the rest, dunno if they want to compete with the Civic, which is more modern, or keep it lower cost. As for the Touring model,... Nah. They'll market the Cross instead, which is a shame, the Touring is a great car (I have one, 2.0L hybrid). A taxi's favorite in europe.

The Honda civic looks so much better and has good power for 2025. I'm waiting to see if the new Rav4 has the same power train as the new Camery then will make a choice between that and the Honda CRV hybrid. Thanks for all the good information!
