My favorite Sam Ard quote is from the race at Road Atlanta. "I went a few corners and got lost". I worked for the racing fuel provider at the track and I found Sam to be the nicest and most genuinley talented racer I had ever met. I offered to ride with him and help with the track layout and he said, "I'll figure it out". Just a real nice guy, in my opinion.

Softer tires is not the answer for an option tire. Back in the day(1990’s) I ran a set of soaked tires at Darlington which was the most abrasive track on the circuit by far. They were the exact same tires soaked 30 duromator points softer than the untouched tires. They were seven tenths a lap faster than the un soaked tires for 70 laps and the wear was about 50% better because they were gripping the track and not being cheese grated like the stock tire. Bristol was a fluke. Construction of the tire is what would make a better option tire. Back in that day that would be a stiffer sidewall but these tires don’t have a sidewall. But then again I don’t know much about that racing stuff…

The reason it was so close for Larson getting to North Wilkesboro after Indy 500 qualifying is not because of IndyCar’s qualifying format… it’s because NASCAR has since scheduled the All Star race to be on Sunday when it use to be Saturday.

RE: Phoenix as championship race. It was mentioned a couple times that the last buncha races there have been a "sell out." There is no quantifiable measure as to what qualifies as a "sell out." No percentage of butts in seats, no percentage of seats sold, no number of people through the gates. The promoter can call whatever they want a "sell out." Having said that, the racing at Phoenix is quite often better than what the tv shows.

There is a reason why the All-star race is dying right out of our eyes because NASCAR doesn't care about traditional events like Charlotte and Daytona in the past because they are so greedy they want to see brawls and suspended some team members and no pack racing at most places to show the next gen car it's doing it's job and make better racing and not complain as much. The All-star race will not come back at all until the jerks stop changing place to place and just go back to the old days. FUCK the whole week and cancel the Clash if it doesn't get back to Daytona and returning the Speedweeks in February or just what until the Daytona 500 in February.😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

Joey earned the pole with a whole team effort over just running a "fast lap" as the all star qualifying is a different animal. Then the pit crew had to execute during the race to keep him up front along with him holding the lead behind the wheel. Also had to execute the restarts to stay in the lead. 22 team put a whupping on the field and that's what it is! They just had a flawless weekend from start to finish!
