The Austin City Limits show by the Allman Brothers changed my life. I had it on VHS. I played it every day. The Allman Brothers became my favorite band and always will be. The slide solo by Warren in this song is, in my opinion, the most beautiful slide solo I’ve ever heard played. Bless you for posting this.

Shawn Glass find the dickie betts band at the lone star roadhouse. Warren’s slide solo in blue sky is singable. It’s a radio broadcast and can be found with google. It’s worth a listen.

Warren’s slide solo for this tune at the Ohne Filter show in 91 was also unreal. I would argue it was even better 🙂

@@andrewptob I agree....his slide playing was never better than in that period. He is absolutely one of the best standard tuning slide players anywhere anytime.

Dickey was on fire during their Austin City Limits runs. Love the sound of his 335.

He loaned his Goldtop to the R&R HOF, I believe and rocked the 335 during that time. I always viewed that guitar as more suited to a rhythm player, but Dickey made that 335 sing

weird they're playing it in A
@mseabs7414 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyBurrito1313 the original recording was sharp of 440 I believe, which gave it a different sound. I thought they usually played this live in A, or at least later on. Perhaps it matched his singing better?

@@AnthonyBurrito1313 I always thought the original was E (but also not concert pitch on eat a peach), thats how i have always played it but in the 90s I def saw them do it in A quite a bit and maybe G, too cant remember exactly. Dickey prob liked singing it there more would be my guess.

There is nothing that sounds any better to me than Dickey Betts and that 335 .

Dickey Betts is a fantastic guitarist, singer and songwriter. I love the Allman Brothers Band. Such great music, with very gifted musicians. I love how they combine different styles of music, like blues, country, gospel, jazz, and rock into something amazing. I wish this was available on DVD.

Dickey's 335 does not quite have the sustain of his goldtop but still as the most beautiful tone!!
