Do you have an alter ego? or perhaps more than one? :) Remember to check our full article on this topic here: www.scienceofpeople.com/reinvent-yourself/

Jordan Peterson spoke just recently about how hard it is for a person to reinvent one's self and how some people remain the same through their lives and most change only once in their lifetime.

Vanessa, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a true inspiration.. but most importantly results. I have been deep into self development since my teen years and masters such as Robert Greene and Carnegie are great, but I can just SEE Vanessa encouraging me to use my Charisma and while sticking to my strengths. I recently dropped a ton of toxic friends and I was a little scared to go out alone at first. Your inspiration has led me to meet a few new group of friends (I'm 37 making new friends with 20 year olds)... quality friends whom I enjoy and are on my level with similar interest. I would sincerely love to send you a hand written thank you note, I am truly happy to have found you.

Thank you Vanessa! I’m working on my alter ego, but as I was listening other examples came to my mind and I wanted to share them here to help others wrap their brain around alter ego and the mental shift that happens. 1 Example: heisenburg / Walter white- I think of the scene in “crazed handful of nothing”. Where he confronts tuco. He puts on his hat and becomes heisenburg, then blows up the upper room and leaves with the cash they owe him

Another way to look at it is being present in the moment and give 100%. If you do, you are exercising your alter ego-you are being your best version in each different situation. Time after time you are putting reps in and your alter ego is growing in multiple dimensions. I love this stuff!

@@ScienceOfPeople You are welcome! I teach and coach this too if interested to speak on the idea of being present in the moment and what activities help to develop it as well how it can work against ADHD as natural way complimenting medications first and then on its own. I have a clinician background but learned these things on my own and now coach others.

I was told to leave ur Ego at home, I did this but I felt that I lost my Drive to succeed ? My Ego kept me working doing the right thing. Not for me but to help others who were victims of crime.
@KarolineThePagan
@KarolineThePagan 5 ай бұрын
That is not true just because someone said to leave your ego at home has no knowledge how the alter ego effect, and identity has an impact on your life. The reason you lost your drive to succeed is because you allow yourself to take the person's advice to use your alter ego at home. Don't listen to them that's bullshit and also their interpretation of identity and alter egos. Follow your heart don't follow someone's advice which hinders you from being the best version of yourself. Creating your alter ego purpose is doing it for yourself only and no one else. Take this as advice for yourself only. Do not care about people's opinions about using alter egos at home or somewhere else. Also the solution is you are in control of your own life no someone else's so stop following someone's advice and leave your alter ego at home. That's bullshit. The truth is the alter ego purpose is to use in areas of life you struggle in and become the best version of yourself. People's opinions can go out the window. 🤣

This was fantastic, if frustrating. Fantastic because it's a process I've been using my whole life, frustrating because I've been pitching a book on this from a different angle for 4 years! But the timing is what I can only call synchronicity - my literary agent reached out this week saying we were close to landing and we should hit the ground running with a revitalised pitch. You have both given me so much to think about, with respect to how to take this further, to 'keep baking' so to speak. Thanks, Vanessa and Super-Richard, for helping create this stimulating, incredibly valuable category. I cannot wait for 'Paulverine' to share a stage with you both xD.

TWice I've automatically done alter egos both times was huge FUN. 1X I was traveling and in a new country I felt different. another time was to meet someone who intimidated me so I made up a literal other person it worked as it was a party and didn't seem totally crazy.

I have a question. Dose my alter ego. Have to be business related? And can I use this to reinvent a new life for myself? Mine is Rhiannon KA. I'm not so sure about how I see her. I have an idea but I'm not sure. Can someone give me any ideas? The reason why I'm asking is because I lost both of my parents to cancer during covid and my childhood wasn't very good. So since I am now starting a new chapter in my life. I feel that it's time to reclaim my life and now make it my own rather than what my mom chose for me growing up. My mom was abusive and I've bern through yrs of therapy and found put that Inhad adhd with generalized anxiety and dyslexia. I've dealt with the worst of it. And now that both of my parents are gone I want to especially my mom. I want to get to chose the way that I see myself and not what she wanted or expected from me. Can I use these ideas as a start? Thanks 😊

I was taught this concept is a schema. Are we just simplifying for accessibility or am I wrong? I thought it was only an alter ego when you could not control the shift/be aware but maybe I’ve been mislead.

What's the difference between having alter egos and having multiple personality disorder(dissociative identity disorder)?
@brianlittrell797
@brianlittrell797 3 жыл бұрын
I believe with dissociative identity disorder the different identity is created unconsciously because of trauma experienced by the person and the trauma is not healed. Whereas with an alter ego you consciously create a different identity that is empowering to you so that you can be more successful and happy. An identity is simply a particular way of thinking about yourself and seeing yourself. You are also choosing to BE a certain way. It is often created so that a person will FEEL more powerful and empowered, more confident, more resourceful and intelligent, more patient and kind, more intelligent, creative, strong and determined, etc etc.
