@@CampGareth Eh, no - you plug your phone into the car, and the car uses the phone as a source of data. My MG4 does that - it doesn't have its own satnav, so I plug my phone in & get Google maps satnav (just like on my phone, only on the car screen). It also automagically handles incoming voice calls (video calls confuse the crap out of it though!)... so whilst it's far from perfect, it does work quite well; and as long as Android Auto (or Apple Car Play) keep being updated, I guess the capabilities of the link will continue to improve too. Where it's limited is if your phone is a bit shit (and mine's a Xiaomi phone - albeit an older one that's seen a couple of years of use), sometimes it can take a good couple of minutes for the satnav to come up. The other thing I find a tad annoying is only one of the two front USB ports supports Android Auto (and it's not the USB3 port), and anyway why can't it do everything wirelessly? I should be able to plonk my phone down on an inductive charging pad & have all the Android Auto functions available via Wifi... ah, maybe one day.
