@christopherroden24122 жыл бұрын
Very beautiful footage! Could you shine some light on the information about guanine?
@TheDave3332 жыл бұрын
@Christopher Roden Sure! Guanine is in everything, because it's one of the four nucleic bases in our D.N.A. and our R.N.A. So, even though the glass belly guppy can't make guanine, it's still in the DNA, because the double helix in DNA is self-replicating. . . When it comes to fish coloration. The colors are a product of special cells known as Chromatophores. Their are several types of chromatophores. The ones responsible for iridescent colors and the metallic silver that so many fish have are known as Iridophores. Iridophores use minerals / crystals that form thin glass plates that capture and reflect light causing the white light to break up like a prism into many different colors. This is how iridescence works. The specific colors that are produced depends on the angle at which the light strikes the guanine plates, as well as the arrangement of the plates themselves. . . They can produce any color under the rainbow, and they're responsible for the metallic colors in fish. I'll eventually do a video on the details of fish coloration . . . It's deep.
