Absolutely, Flash was basically a nameless meathead in Toby's films and, so far, is just kind of an annoying loser in Tom's. The Flash is this one I actually believed as a bully but also showed some depth which he has in some of the other media. I think it also really nailed the grieving that Peter was going through in a way Toby was never able to portray.

Worked on reshoots for this movie. Whilst going to get a coffee order for the editorial team and Director across from the studio I had my first experience with Avi Arad. He was pulling into the private little lot they had there. He was driving a convertable royles royce or bently whichever has the obnoxious grill. He had two large rotwiellers in the car and was smoking a big ol fat cigar. He gets out and we get to the door at the same time. I hold it open and he and his dogs walk in without saying a word. Upon walking in to the building i was hit with the smell of dog piss and shit. It became clear to me that his dogs just piss and shit wherever they wanted and people just cleaned it up as best they could and couldnt say anything cuz hes the boss. This was my first week on the project. Anyway got loads of stories about Star Trek, Star Wars Force Awakens(worked at Bad Robot during prepro). Love the channel and the pod if youd ever wanna hear some hot goss about those for any caravan of garbage or rando vid, love to shoot you an email with the stories. Exactly! Andrew Garfield was my favorite Peter/Spider-Man in the movies, and Emma Stone was the best love interest in any of them, too. (none of the movies top the '90's animated show, though) But the plots, the side characters, the villains, literally everything else around them was horrible. I loved his take, and how he started out as an angry kid who was still unsure of himself. He puts on an act to make people think he’s confident but he’s not. He’s an angry socially awkward kid who was dealt a crappy hand. His issues keep on piling up and he takes it out on the ones he loves. It wasn’t until after the death of uncle Ben that he sees the error of his ways. Still misguided though, he seeks revenge instead of justice. He thinks he’s doing the city a favor but he’s just trying to please his subconscious. He feels responsible for the death of his uncle (because he is). It’s not until after the talk with Captain Stacy, and saving Jack that he realizes that he can be greater and protect others from ever feeling the loss that he felt. It’s extremely realistic and is, in my opinion, an amazing character study into the character of Spider-Man, and what it means to be a hero. I was "ROFLMAO"-ing, as they say - Rolling On The Floor Like A Total Nutcase, Laughing My Ass Off At How Bad this Movie Is, & How Many Sick Burns You Guys Said! The editing of course was also key in nailing the jokes, so good job whichever one of y'all it was. I watched it twice in a row and also sent it to a bunch of friends. One scene I like from this movie is the part where it's right after Ben dies and Flash comes to talk to Peter. You expect him to do his bully thing but he actually comes to comfort him in his own way, makes Flash out to be more than the generic role he usually gets.

One thing that wasn't mentioned was Rhys Ifans' performance. For the most part, he has served comedic roles and seeing him in this was just different. I thought he did a very good Curt Connors and a very good turn into a more serious role. I find the costume to look good. I like the fact that it's very different from the Tobey Maguire ones. The yellow eyes are a nice touch, I don't know why. I was a bit disappointed to see it change in TASM 2 though seeing a thinner live action version of that Spidey suit was still good.

Andrew Garfield's performance as Spider-Man was more close to the comic book form. He has fast talking quips and very energetic.

@@DavySolaris Spider-man is cocky. And sometimes vengeful. Look at how he treats any villain when they make things personal. Besides he outgrows his vengeance mood over the course of the first half of the movie.

@@DavySolaris Well in the comics Peter was a bit of a dick to people when he first came out decades ago. @@DavySolaris Ok what part isn't true?
@liamoliver58483 жыл бұрын
@@DavySolaris Ok well Spider-Man aking jokes and quips while he takes down criminals can be seen as a form of cokyness. In multiple comics Spider-Man has been vengeful, one example is when Peter went to jail and literally killed Kingpin in a fist fight because Kingpin put a hit on Aunt May. In Spider-Man's early years he would think stuff like "These people aren't worth my intelligence" regarding people who bullied him, that was before he got his powers. If you think that Spider-Man's personality in the Raimi movies is the correct personality for him then sadly you are incorrect. Spider-Man has a history of being cocky and vengeful. Just facts man

All of these are great moments and feel very much like spider-man to me. Tobey kind of lacked this. Another great thing about Andrew was his spider-man quips, the delivery as well as the jokes themselves were great. Like the 'Oh god you've found my weakness, it's small knives!"

I really like these movies. My favorite thing about the second one inparticular is he's just very good at being Spiderman. He can see shit in slow motion and save everyone (apart from anyone in the Stacey family ) and its awesome. Where Tom Holland, although probably in better movies overall, he's like bumbling his way around the action scenes. And Maguire is just bumbling his way through conversations and is generally just a dickhead.

To me, Ben died because he believed in that philosophy that Richard Parker lived by. No, there wasn’t anyone near the guy at the time but he knew that if he let him go there would be a chance that good, innocent people would be hurt, which makes his death so tragic after he lectured Peter on living that same ideology.

I remember behind the scenes the costume designer tried to go for a suit that could be homemade at that time. He has trainer soles on his shoes from I think some Nike shoes and the lenses are made from some sunglasses or something. It's definitely not as nice a suit as others we've seen but you've got to appreciate the realism attempt.
@alosim15412 жыл бұрын
The problem with that logic is for that premise to work you have to go all the way with it. If you want a “realistic” suit then it needs to look way shittier, like Tobey’s wrestling suit or Tom’s homemade suit. In TASM, the final suit still looks way to good to get that impression across. Aside from the things you mentioned the suit itself still feels too professionally made, so it doesn’t really work as “realistic”. But at the same time, because of all the things like crappy boots and sunglass lenses, it’s too shitty to be considered a quality movie suit like TASM2. So instead of having a beautiful comic accurate suit or a realistic homemade suit the TASM1 suit falls in the middle and unfortunately doesn’t work as either.

This movie’s crime isn’t being bad, it’s actually pretty decent and Garfield is a good Spidey. This movie’s crime is being forgettable. It’s sandwiched between the classic Rami era and the Tom Holland MCU era… and even TASM2 stands out for being a big swing and a miss. This movie just kind of exists.
@li-limandragon92873 жыл бұрын
I also feel Spidey works best as part of a bigger story, not being the centre of everything himself. I know people complain about MCU Spidey being subservient to the Avengers but Peter Park isn’t the main hero dude of New York in the comics but that just makes him stand out more. It also makes Spidey’s adventures more of a break from the world wide threat stuff, which this ASM movies do twice.

I actually really enjoyed the look of the lizard. It looks less like something I would see in some cartoon from when I was a child. I think there should be an understanding when it comes to creating the model of a character so many love. No matter what you do, people are going to dislike it, if they had done the snout people would have complained about it being too cheesy or corny and doesnt look like a mutation someone would get after turning their humanoid body into a lizard like creature. They tried to mesh a human and lizard together and it looked pretty scary and cool imo. Amazing videos though, I appreciate the good laughs and quality content :).
