He was always a jerk in the comics but that’s why he changed by Ben’s death. They kept using Tobey as the frame of reference when in actuality he was further from the source material.

He is supposed to be a nerd, but he's not like that through the entire movie, he grows is my point. That's like saying Tony Stark is an asshole, or Kickass is too much of a nerd, or Captain America is too patriotic. He's supposed to start at that way and then break out of that. I'm right there with Cyrus and Leon. I didn't get the same kind of thrills I got with the original Spider-Man. Plus, I liked the Jameson character a lot, and he provided good comic relief throughout. This new one is mostly boring, and uneventful,and when stuff does happen, it's not very exciting. I also agree when they said he was kind of an asshole. He wasn't very likable, or good looking. Hell, he wasn't even that smart. I'm like, "PUT YOUR GODDAMN MASK ON IDIOT!" Other than that, this was an unnecessary reboot. It's way too soon, and nobody was asking for it. Spider-Man 3 wasn't great, but it was still more fun than this.

he apologized to her at the end and gave her a hug. he did felt guilt over his uncle's death but he still wanted to catch the guy who killed his uncle. i mean the guy is a crook and he killed his loving relative. also, the ending is still unexplained. at first he broke up with gwen, but for some strange reason he went back with her. i wouldn't call him a jerk because we don't even have an explanation for why he went back with her. and no, garfield DID act like a nerd.

This "Amazing Spider-Man" movie, didn't really appeal to me. Peter was kind of an asshole. The Lizard looked silly, the fights weren't that great, and I didn't like Gwen Stacy as the love interest. Although Emma Stone was good. Not saying that Garfield was bad, it was his character I didn't really like. I thought Spider-Man 3 was ok, just not as good as 2 I think.

Rushed origin Leon have you even seen Raimi's first Spider-man let's just say after Peter.Gets bitten by the spider you blink your eyes once he's mastered his abilities.By the fourth blink he's graduated high school and is working at the Daily Bugle.Raimi completely sped through Peter's early years as Spider-man and still got the character wrong. Webb's version is how a Spider-man film should be the only thing missing from it is the classic responsibility line.

Regardless spiderman 1 was something really unique and special and kinda dark at spots. Sam Raimi specializes in campiness. People act like it's a kids movie but it's not it's the comic brought to life hyperstylized. Spiderman 2 was even better that scene where doc ock attacks the doctors and when spidey stops the train are to of the best action scenes ever

I personally liked Andrew and Marc's take on Peter in this film; his grief at Uncle Ben's death, and their overall relationship, was actually much more believable than McGuire's "Uncle Beeeeeeeeeen!" cry face... thought the scene after his graduation was well done. Add to that, they didn;t just make Peter go from "0 to Hero"; he had that believable, smart aleck snarkiness a brillaint, decent enough but kind of geeky highschooler _would_ have, and his humor as Spidey was _genuinely_ funny! A lot of the movie was carried on the chemistry with Andrew and Emma, and frankly, going back to form with him *building his webshooters* was just a simple plus. Had they kept Gwen alive til movie 3, I could see this becoming a serious franchise. Just wasn't a fan of the "Homecoming", although it was well acted and decently shot; Spidey relaying on a tech heavy suit just so he could be in Avengers? Sorry, no; better to make him stand alone

@jumpmanajf12 жыл бұрын
No. It's appropriate. The whole movie is a showcase for the romance. Unlike say Ironman where it's interspersed throughout or even Spiderman trilogy where the romance never fully blossoms. I'm quoting spill but Peter has the edward hair, and is a muddy teenager. It's at a high school as well, and the dark cinematography doesn't help. Maybe Twilight is a tad harsh, but CWish, or Smallvillish would be an apt comparison.

but i still never cared for peter. i cared for alot of the characters. i cared for mj until 2 and 3. and it's amazing because i've seen tobey in brothers and i don't know why they made peter into a nerd from the 60s in a place set in the early 2000s.

But it was realistic. He had to fight for MJ the entire series, even when they got together. MJ isn't supposed to be the idealistic girlfriend she's supposed to be a real feeling girl, and most girls can be bitches at times. No offense, but if you've ever had a mature somewhat adult relationship that's exactly how they work. And Peter Parker is supposed to be a dork, that's like complaining Tony Stark is an asshole, but he grows a lot, and even becomes scary in the first one at points.

The relationship between Peter and Gwen was so much better than between Pete and MJ in the old trilogy lol. Pete was basically a passive aggressive abuser stalker and MJ was honestly an unlikeable person. The car scene alone was funnier than anything in the first trilogy outside of the bone saw scene. I agree that I don’t like how Garfield plays Pete in the first half, but he’s far better in the suit and the action scenes are FAR superior as well. The villain was indeed weak sauce and ultimately I gave this one 8 outta 10 webheads. Did you all forget that Pete in the old trilogy immediately went for vengeance as well? And didn’t he basically kill the dude? It certainly could have used a second pass on the script and tightened up dialogue. I personally didn’t like most of the Rami trilogy tbh.

Why didn't Leon like Spider-Man 2?
@antoniokastrocarlisledemel66172 жыл бұрын
I'm with Leon as since 2004 to now in 2022 ive never understood why people love spiderman 2 so much...it's pretty good but by no means flawless or a classic and 20+ years later the first Raimi Spiderman remains my favorite...this movie though is just average and coming only 5 yrs after spiderman 3(which i don't agree with Leon and Cyrus on cuz it was just average and most definitely a disappointment) it was too soon for a reboot but then they chose to do the origin story again which was unnecessary and while i really like Andrew Garfield and most of the cast they're not enough to elevate this movie beyond a low matinee(at best) for me with pt 2 even worse with a Rental(at best) making those 2 movies pretty much superfluous..also i really never liked the web shooters as to me natural webs make more sense cuz while peter maybe a genius i doubt he could make something like that not only cuz of his age but mainly because of his very limited resources but if you're going to get spider characteristics why wouldn't u get natural webs too..not only that but he had em in the comics at one point too

Rather a dry character than a jerk I say. I saw the ads and went in with great expectation. I love the humour (but the humour quickly turned into humiliations and insults rather than wit). The only line that shouted spiderman was that 'whats up doc' line and even that had no back up. And the fact that he gives up his identity up like candy (to everyone). But that being said charlie sheens dad and actress who did gwen stacy were great but under developed. The villian was a huge mess too.
