You should experience winter here. Grey, rainy, windy, hail, snow that melts away when it touches the ground, dark. Ice cold roads but still rain in the air, freezing in the nights, and plus in the days... the only plus side is that spring returns faster then in the north. Otherwise, if the snow stays and it becomes real winter(for a week or two as it usually does), then it is great. ^)^

Yes, I agree. I spend so much of our short summer far north in NY state working my butt off that I don't get to enjoy it much. I love it when the weather cools down & I can knit, spin, quilt, read, visit....My husband hates the cold so much that all he does is complain. He wants to move to Texas, but I am not on board with that. I want to do things like snowshoe, go out in the woods, etc... He is not interested.

I’m of Finnish heritage and love winter. I lived in the mountains of Colorado for 11 years and enjoyed the crispy crunch of snow under my feet and the slight stinging bite of the cold air in my nostrils. I now live in the Catskill mountains of New York, and make sure to get out every single solitary day in the winter. We haven’t had much snow where I live but once it snows, I make sure to get out with the dogs.

When you spoke of the commenters who questioned why you have not made your larger home a priority over other projects, it made me think of Proverbs 24:27, "Put your outdoor work in order and get your fields ready; after that, build your house"... I can't believe I'm sitting in the air conditioning to get out of the 33°C heat and suffocating humidity in Ipswich Queensland Australia and watching a wee boy in Northern Sweden open his Christnas presents of train and wagons on train tracks exactly the same as my Grson had when he was that age and he's 21 this year. Also he is visiting today and I am saying "Lachy, look this wee boy has a Digger exactly like the one you had in the sand pit, only he's using his in the snow" !!!! It may seem like things are different a whole world away but not so; many things are the same right down to the little kids toys. Thankyou for sharing, you made an old ladies heart very happy. Please enjoy your winter wonderland cos many of us don't ever get that privilege. I struggle in the heat with Hypothyroidism and am so grateful my daughter & s-i-l have put air-conditioning in my bedroom now. As I age with a major back injury I find the heat so pervasive but would not be able to move at all in the extreme cold of a northern winter. There are blessings in life where ever we are and we can count them or curse them, but we will always reap what we sow. I loved the ice cave and its turret with the slide escape !!! BRAVO for exposing your wee lad to the positives of your weather conditions. Well done with the cellar and the sauna ...altho I cannot conceive running naked into the iced-over waters of the river to play and full dunk then go sit on a chair in the snow. Extreme heat or extreme cold , both are crazy LOL. Beautiful video again may you continue to bring us more thru out the New Year of 2023 and may you all be tremendously blessed by Almighty God our Creator .🇦🇺🤗💞🙏👍✌️👏👏👏👏👏❣️

When I was in college at Indiana University in 1978 there was so much snow and cold (61 day stretch) that they had to shut down & send everybody home because they ran out of coal to heat the university. I remember a blizzard so fierce that it crippled the entire state. 45 years later, they still are talking about it. my siblings, and I built the most ambitious snow project on our lawn; a Sphinx, and three immense Pyramids.

Hello from Edinburgh Scotland. I watch a you tube channel called My Self Reliance. He has hand built a cabin in Canada with wood from trees around his land. For insulation between the logs and other places, he uses moss that has dried. He also likes to grow food to support his whole family. Maybe you could make some sort of frame around the door of your cellar, and fill it with moss. Of course you would have to gather it when it gets warmer. You may also get some ideas as well for making furniture and also running lights on solar energy. Hope this helps. I really appreciate your wonderful photography and work that you both put into these videos. It takes me back to growing up in the 1960s. When we could run and play in the fields and live a simpler life. Ivar is such a wonderful child and I am sure he will appreciate and remember this beautiful childhood. So proud of you both much love and blessings to you xxxxx

Building a snow cave with a slide for your son you likely created the warmest feeling of love and connection for a life to come. He won’t remember it due to being very young. But he will feel it. I share your attitude of finding enjoyment wherever you are.... I live in Canada, not as cold as there, but still pretty frigid. I like managing my firewood for the wood stove, warms you right up, bringing a few loads in every day.... Also leaving out food for the deer and birds (mostly crows, ravens and Bluejays)... And helping neighbors with clearing with my beast of a snowblower... Then the day comes to an end, and a still dark evening is magic...

Oh my gosh, watching and listening to the two little ones interact is adorable! 🥰 Watching you two sit outside, wet after being in the freezing water, gave me the shivers, but it’s making me realize again, it’s just a state of mind. I’ve been outside in the cold shivering like crazy, but then I remind myself to relax, stop being tense, and I feel just fine. Again, I know I’ve said this many times before, you guys live such peaceful lives. How very lucky you are………… I strive to live more at peace too. You are a true inspiration 💜

I really enjoyed this video to the fullest. That is how Christmas should be. I love that you make this things with Ivar-this are the memories of his childhood he will never forget and propably give them to his children one day. Love to see that you guys have a great time. I would insulate the cellar also on the inside a little bit. Wish you all the best from Austria. Focus on that things you do and not what People are saying. You all do great. Can´t wait to see your next Video. 😊🤩

I love Mathias finish accent! "Ja vi måste nog fixa fönstrena då". He tells Ivar that he has to fix the windows when the snow gets in like that. This dude seems so calm and content with where he is in the world.

I love winter, when my grandson was 7 years old we went into the woods with a camera and took many pictures of nature and being silly together. I enjoyed snowshoeing, cross country skiing and ice fishing. Thank you for sharing the winter Beauty of Sweden. And I love the snow cave, my brother also had them. Memories ❤

I'm from the Netherlands, I've always believed I hated winter, only about I year ago I realised I just hate Dutch winter. Our winters are rainy and windy, with rarely any snow, and everything just looks brown and dead, but wit your videos and others I've come to realize how incredibly beautiful snow is! And I've really started to love it

I can so relate to your comments about winter negativity! We live in Maine, USA and though our winters are certainly not as severe as what you experience; it is COLD and if we are lucky there is LOTS of snow. We raised our children here and we all love winter. So many people here move to warmer areas when they retire but we love the different seasons. We skate, ski, snowshoe, and do lots of shoveling. Love everything about it.

When I look at Mathis I see my grandson. He looks like his father who is pure German stock. I know or believe Mathis is Finnish. I so enjoy your family and that Ivar is so smart. Both of you do so well. Blessings
