Good to see you again! 😊 I have an off-topic question.... What do you use to nourish dry leather in Sweden? Not talking about waterproofing, just turning a dried out 'wrinkled' leather jacket into healthy smooth/supple leather again. I figure peeps from the north have a good natural solution for that. Good luck with the tractor! Seems like you'll be having a lot of lambs in spring 😃❤

@neva.2764 We're working on a shoe wax, for waterproofing. We made our first try recently. Mink oil or bear fat are popular to make shoe polish of here. We'll se what we come up with. General leather fattening, hmm, when we tan leather we use brains, or in case we do not have brains we use olive oil with an egg yolk and a dash of soap to fatten the tanned result. You could maybe try that. This is however on naturally tanned leather, not industrial chromium tanned leather, so I do not know how it would behave on the later.

I am a HUGE fan from Michigan and I hope not to set anyone off with what I'm about to say. I have recently unsubscribed to a couple of similar channels because I am simply done with how materialistic and greedy they have become. I am writing about it here because I haven't seen anyone else work so hard and ask for so little. Don't get me wrong, I have given whether deserving or not. I am just frustrated by these people who don't do any self sustaining labor whatsoever and then ask people for money to help their life become easier. They have their supporters but instead of using the money for important "necessary for life" needs they redecorate and build more unnecesary things. I get it, "to each their own" so I unsubscribed but for Talasbuan how can I help more than I already am (which isn't much). They need help building their reasonable sized house, and fixing the tractor so they can continue the work they do. In no way are they going to stop working a become full-time "influencers" where chatting is their day job. We live paycheck to paycheck so we don't have much, I'm a small monthly Patreon doner and the amount isn't even noticeable any more (meaning I'm it's not hurting me to give). I am disabled, have been bed ridden for years. There isn't much I can do, even typing this will wipe me out. I am not on social media and have no other way spreading the word so I am just trying to give a shout out to those that have the ability to share this channel with others, to those who do donate here and there, or those who haven't become Patreons because they think its a bigger deal than it is. I figure, I don't pay for cable so why not pay towards my favorite entertainment. Mathias, Tova and Ivar have done far more for my life than I could ever do in return. We do not know each other and I was not asked to do this. They work so hard and still find time to create entertainment for me....for all of us! Is there something more we can do to show our appreciation?! I really hope this helps.

I wrote this before reading a very sad comment where a couple of scholars were shaming Mathias and Tova for raising Ivar so inappropriately and also mentioned that because of their way of life is why the refused to help support them with their custom windows (um ok). If you haven't watched that far back the house they are building was disassembled somewhere else and reassembled on their property. Being so old there is much to be replaced and rebuilt. They don't make stock windows in the size they need so they needed to be "Custom" ordered. They also wanted them to be made the original way, not with plastic materials and harmful gasses. Mathias and Tova are not the typical KZbinrs who put the computer, selfies and vlogging first. They are so humble and they work their tails off. The electronics always come last. Ivar is the best example of how hard they work to have a happy homestead and happy family. Whether playing alone, playing with other kids, or even when he is crabby...he is the calmest, happiest, well behaved child. They work hard, they help others and they hardly ask for help...you can even tell how uncomfortable they are asking for $1. Please ignore those who are ignorant and blind to what is truly beautiful about this channel!

Biggest Fan for years now and I love Sweden and the culture. Even more so this family.. Everyone deserves the best, but Tradition is the way they live. They're not greedy Americans and take Shiet for granted. I've come here for years to escape my life for a bit, there doing everything right and to keep there culture alive. Mad respect for lots whom live this way and even harder for the No mads. ❤

One thing you can do to keep the floors from being so cold and is free is to pile that snow up against the bottom of the house. It will seal it in a way to prevent wind under the house from causing cold in the house. There is a channel from the US called Fy Nyth and she lives in the mountains of Wyoming in a tiny house. She has pretty good ways of keeping her home from getting too cold.

One thing I would recommend is to make sure that you place insulated plywood or boards around the bottom of your cabin to create a dead air space under your cabin, it will make a huge difference to heating your home. A couple of closeable vents is a good idea to allow for a bit of air movement when needed in warmer weather. Last week in Alberta (Canada) the temp dropped to -43 degrees C/F for a couple of days. Just like old times.

Hi, thanks for the vlogs. I had an old van with starter motor issues. I disconnected and cleaned up the main power connection to the starter motor with WD40 a metal file and a wire brush. (plus the connecting nuts) For a clean connection. It did the trick, while still attached. I guess i'm late to try help out, but there's my 2 pence. lol Hope you are all well. Edit - Put an advert in. I'm sure, one per episode could help you out. 8 ) It's now odd, not to get 2 adverts in a 20 min vlog.
@jjohnson2553

My long distance guess on your starter would be this. If you can't see any obvious issues with the brushes or commutator being worn, a likely cause of your problem is worn bushings. Typically the bushing in the front plate wears enough that the armature starts to drag on the field coils/magnets just enough to make it drag or lug it down. That's my guess anyways. Good luck with getting it fixed.

@mindym.1166

No, not many people in the US know the 24 hour clock; it is not taught in schools though it might be mentioned when the subject of telling time is introduced. It is used in the military and in medical care in the US. The 12 hour clock is dominant in most other settings with a.m. or p.m. used to specify morning or evening.

I love your family so much and watching you brings me so much joy! I am also Swedish as I’ve commented to you before but i unfortunately live in America but I’d rather be in Sweden. Although i understand your life is not an easy way of living, it is a beautiful way of living that i have always dreamt of since i was little. Being self sustainable with my own property and things built with our own hands and truly living off the land that God has given us just sounds amazing. I am not unrealistic in what it takes for that kind of survival either and understand it truly takes at least 5 years before really starting to get the hang of things so to speak. The way you are both raising Ivar is beautiful and exactly how children should be raised! He is so smart and happy and just the cutest boy I’ve ever seen (aside from my own of course lol). He is going to have real life skills and the way the world is heading that’s going to be even more important than any college degree for sure! Besides that college is overrated and overpriced and you come out with very little knowledge of anything and a whole lot of debt that is designed to never be paid off. Public schools are a joke and are nothing but indoctrination anyways, even though i know that he’s still too young for any school right now. I’m just adding this for the ignorant haters that have no idea what they’re talking about when it comes to kids and what they truly need-which is both mother and father, lots of love and support and communication and lots of play time and freedom to explore things and learning real life survival skills. Nothing else matters really and especially not constant socialization with other children either. That doesn’t teach them anything they need to be with their parents learning how to do things and receiving lots of attention from them and yes discipline as well especially discipline that is consistent and makes sense and they are learning from it. They don’t need to spend all their time with other kids school is literally meant to be a babysitter so that both parents can work full time and the government can continue to line their pockets. We school our kids from home and it’s amazing although it’s not a traditional homeschool is still so much better than the concentration camps they have for schools these days and this way i am part of all their learning and activities. In the end though, even that still isn’t going to matter when shit hits the fan and everyone is forced to live off the grid and try to figure out how to survive. Anyway i love your videos and being part of your lives in a way. FYI, for some reason i got unsubscribed to your channel and i have no idea why or how that happened but has been wondering why i couldn’t see anything for you guys coming up and i wasn’t getting notified of your new videos either so I subscribed again of course but thought it was very strange. Take care you guys and can’t wait for the next one!

Hello again. It is so good to find your blog once again. I commend your vigor and self -sufficiency.....your positive approach to the many challenges in northern life is so very impressive. Few would survive such harsh conditions! Bringing the rams to the sheep was interesting. I watched the information on mob breeding. I sincerely hope that you can get the tractor running. Your persistence is inspiring. I look forward to your next video with hopes that the tractor will be fixed and the temperatures less frigid. Keep the cabin warm and safe.

🎉 Happy New Year 2024! 🎉 So great that you had a well-deserved break from your electronics. Love your videos, and WOW, Ivar is getting so tall. Just a word of advice... Please clear the ice AFTER you have your sauna WARM. SAFETY FIRST. ✌️❤️😊

Hopefully we all know that 0c is freezing? hmmm! Maybe some don't? We had the very cold, maybe 2F in the morning and then that Saturday it was 45F and I was sweating, working outside, or in the barn with the horses!

We seem to be done with the -27F windchills, was only -13 F actual temp but made it 50F in house. and turned on space heaters. Wish I had a woodstove in here but... Just layered up and made soups, rice porridge and lots of tea. Right now 39 F and foggy, ground still slippery after 2 days of heavy rain. We had a second water main break on our street this week so are back to a boil order for consumption and doing dishes. I am not doing dishes till the order is lifted. I will take any excuse. Really admire the water hauling ethic. Tova thank you for translating temps. I 'm glad he found his cap!! That tractor engine looked so frustrating, good luck.

I just noticed that Celsius and Fahrenheit agree at -40 degrees cool. No pun intended:) 13:35 Sledge-o-matic Gallagher. 14:55 When in Sweden you should use a Husqvarna chainsaw to cut ice.
