This is SO cool. I just found the channel via the "LED transmitted AM radio+solar panel" short (for lack of a better description) and I'm so freaking impressed. I'll be excited for anything else you post. Thank you so much

Radio , CB I messed with literaly since 4th grade. Dad bought a radio and installed in our 69 Ford Econoline Van and I would sit out there talking to people (girls) that were cruising town. He went downtown like a good boy and registered it , putting his number on with the punch sticky tape and now at 56 he cant believe I remember it , KAPK-3294. While driving truck a couple of us went to a shop in Souix City. Talking CB and Ham stuff , he took a new Mobile Ham radio out the box , hooked it up showing us it was 3 watts , and in 5 minutes first contact was Zanzabar Africa. Radios & Stereos , Electronics fascinate me.

I started with CB radio myself. I'll never forget the thrill of making my first contact, and later I got my ham radio license. 73s.

2 stories Dave, When I took my mom and her sister in 1986 to Sandpoint Idaho, I was big time into CB radio. I took a starduster 1/4 wave isotropic antenna and a 20 ft mast with me. I talked back on a (virtually) stock Cobra 142 radio back to Chico Ca to a friend I had house sitting my house, and to a friend in Reno Nv. Then in 1997 near Devils Tower Wy and Cheyanne Wy I talked to multiple friends on the super bowl channel (Ch6) all the way back to Chico Ca. I was running a little extra power (500W) in my mobile. Got to love the propagation! Thank you Dave!

Hi Steve, I also started with CB radio. I remember the starduster antenna was a popular antenna. Much to my surprise I was able to shoot skip using 4 watts of output power while on AM with a base loaded mobil antenna, so I've witnessed the possibilities. ;-)
