Question about archer's skeleton at 51: The contemporary small composite recurve bows (probably similar to the ones they used?), are weaker than the English longbow of foot archers. And would not deform the skeleton with their draw weight in the ranges of modern target bows. Mounted archer can not draw heavier bows and stay accurate. In a byzantine treaty (Strategikon of Maurice not sure) it was mentioned to use foot archers, because of their longer range and better accuracy as the counter measure to horse archers harassment of walking troops, not horse archers.

Two corrections among many: 1. 52:20 The Iranian phrase 'hama zan' does not mean warrior but rather means 'all women' (همه زن). 2. 45:40 Persians did not adopt Scythian dressing. Persians and Scythians are cousins linguistically and culturally. Persians, like Scythians, were wearing leg and arm dressing since they were Persians. Parthians were also related to Scythians and Persian. They are all part of the big Iranian/Indo-Iranian culture/family.

Learning some history is surely cool Not sure why I picked cool but it feels great to know a bit of the past History is a big topic to learn, i wonder what are the biggest mistakes that we must learn from history to avoid being repeated . . Again

I wish the speaker didn't have to rely so heavily on her notes - it makes the talk a bit stilted although the topic is quite fascinating.

Is that why women are second class citizens in India?

id like to learn more about this. im intrigued also about the pre-colonization of india, where the women were actually topless, just as in many ancient cultures who up until colonization, considered boobs to be just as normal as we see mens chests or ankles.

@@elec174 its possible... and? or maybe she just likes knowing that women were treated as equals in history for once. it definitely intrigues me as a woman.

She is a gem. Please urge your kid's schools to include women when they convey history. Please urge them to learn about women's contributions. We wouldn't have this technology to communicate without a women for instance... as evidenced by the algorithm that turned the computer into something more than an overweight calculator. That was in the 1800's and you know as this video claims women had power and honor in some cultures but we are afforded only one view of the world in the US when we view how it says it teaches history at least in public schools. 50 percent of humanity is largely left out and by that I mean women. You have a better chance of making history if you fit into a narrative as someone's wife, mother or someone's something unless you burn London down with a fire hot enough to leave a real mark ... don't think many remember her old man's name. Lol. But honestly...I think there are much better less violent examples of women with great abilities, intellect and insight. Let's include them. Don't be the good man or woman that does nothing please. I'll try too.

Mrs Adrirnne Mayor's your history of the Amazon's are as flaud as any mans . The Amazonz as wel call them now came on the sean in the Med around what we call Tursky today . The Greeks encountered the Amazons for the first time and discribed them as Centars half man and half horse ,for they had never seen anyone ride on the back of a horse before that time If you take just that description of the Amazonz as Centars and follow it through history you will find more out about the Amazons than you ever knew possibl .On another way is to ask your self why was the Amazons hunted by so many differnt cultures over the centuries the answer will suprise you I guarantee it.

Lady Unfortunately, he does his best to cover up the facts. 1. Why it does not say that it is Samsun based in Anatolia. 2. What are their religions? 3. Who is in this geography who speaks the Indian European language. 4. Amazons women are the people we call Alevis today.
