Hello everyone! I wanted to address another video that (from the great guys at Hardware Unboxed) heavily criticized this notebook's cooling. It had us dropping everything, re-testing and re-validating our observations about the A15. We even reached out to HUB to see how our results could be so different from theirs; because seriously, both weren't even close We'll be posting another video in the coming days once we get to the bottom of things but right now, after another ~50 hours of testing and comparisons, nothing has changed from Eber's observations about cooling in this video. As for the screen, we don't have a way to scientifically measure response times (YET!) but both Eber and I gamed quite a bit on it and neither of us felt there was anything specifically lacking that we hadn't seen on similarly priced notebooks we've come across. What you see is our honest subjective feedback about that. Stay tuned for more! - Mike Editor In Chief, HWC

That cooling design at the bottom is awful, terrible air flow and high temps on CPU, obviously that will short life span of all components. I have decided to remove the bottom cover and put the laptop over my cooling pad to lower the temp from 88° on full load to 67°. Asus needs to come up with an updated design on that disastrous bottom plate.

I ordered one from Computer Upgrade Kings through Amazon. It took a month and a half, but I did receive it last week. So far, I'm loving it. The lid/screen on mine is very tight...no real wobble like shown in the video. I've been playing StarWars Battlefront II nearly non-stop since receiving this and it's been great. Start up is near instantaneous and the fans aren't as loud as I expected.

Let's be honest, most laptops are just going AMD and will stay like that for a long time. Nice review Hardware Canucks Edit: Thanks for all the replies. The reason why I said most laptops will be going AMD is because they are producing high quality mobile chips that are currently better than Intel's. Of course Intel will catch up soon but for now AMD is the best. So realistically, it won't be such a long time.

just bought the laptop few days ago. few facts maybe you guys want to know: playing games on turbo mode and ultra settings makes the cpu/gpu temperature too much high. 95 average. on performance mode 80-90 average. but if you play it on silent mode and medium settings (sotr), your laptop stays within 70 degree, which is really nice. for those who want a budget laptop, definitely can choose this. just make sure not to play games for too long in turbo mode, this can reduce lifetime of the laptop.

My first ever laptop and gaming laptop was the Asus ROG G75VW which I purchased back in 2013 and still use to this day. All I've done is recently I added 2 more 4gb sticks of ram which brings the total to 16GB and a 250TB SSD. Other than regularly cleaning the fan filters and having dismantled it completely a couple times to clean the dust it's been a great product. I'm not sure if the quality of Asus laptops has changed today but I've been extremely satisfied with mine. I'm watching and typing this comment from my G75VW.

But this definitely made me re-consider my choice too. Even though G14 is way up my budget but still i was surprised to have a compact 14" laptop with so much more. I have watched over 15+ videos about how much better it was than rest of the laptops. I said now the only thing i need is this little beasty boi. And now I am seeing this and saying to my innocence "Steve Harvey Style "I have to Apologize....! :P " But still will have to see more to consider my choice since G14 won my heart already. I can't cheat him with this being even though better at some point but with lesser build quality, color accuracy, bigger size and design. I'll still prefer my beasty boi :P

My g14 arrives tomorrow. I think the biggiest factors for my between the two are the 1.7kg weight of G14, the way longer battery life made possible by the MQ GPU only sacrifising 2-3% of fps, and most importantly, the costmizable LED on the cover. For me, the TUF 15 is puely for gamer while the G14 is targeted for a wider designer/creators who would also like to play some games on the go, justified by the 1440p screen option which is what im getting. Both great laptops with AMD cores, just different use cases.

Well.. it depends what you are trying to do. If all you care for is raw CPU horse power without compromises, nothing beats the XMG APEX 15 and its full blown AM4 socket paired with a 3950X. But then, it weights a ton and the battery would only last you enough to save your stuff and shutdown the system, so that one is more like a LAN party machine than a "real" laptop. So, outliers aside, most of the manufacturers are in the eternal struggle juggle between performance, portability, lipsticks and pigs, and what matters is what works best for your specific needs. And yes, something like this would be more than enough for pretty much anyone in 2020, and at that price point it looks interesting even for a die-hard desktop fans like myself.

Sharing my impressions of an Asus FA506IV (4800H, RTX2060) I purchased in early Aug, 2020. Right away, the HDMI port did not work. The service centre ordered for a replacement motherboard. The part arrived within a week, which was nice given the prevailing pandemic. Now I hear that the replacement motherboard fixed the HDMI issue but occasionally (as the service technician told me) failing to detect the display. The service center has asked for a replacement for the replacement. Meanwhile, I wait for a final fix with a jittery feeling as to how long this laptop would really last.

An update. I got the laptop back from the service center in about two weeks. Have been using the machine for about two months. Its speed is impressive. Audio is excellent as well. Didn't notice much of heating issue. Fan noise is noticeable but not that I can't live with. Color reproduction is somewhat lacking, although I don't have a problem with that. Another irritation is occasional touchpad stutter. So far so good I must say.

It seems to me that Asus have made close to the perfect machine for college students. Relatively inexpensive for the power it packs, capable of doing almost any task that is thrown at it, long battery life for when you need to be away from an outlet or when all the outlets at the library are occupied, and good enough for any leisures activities you might want to throw at it. As someone in mass media I would only say the drawbacks are the screen and the lack of SD card and dedicated mic ports. But that doesn't matter as much to me since I can go to my college lab for iMacs to color grade, use dongles, etc.

@P ROG gets certain things better for sure. When it comes to the delicate balance of thermals and performance, better check the data and understand it before proclaiming a victor. Especially, when talking about ultras or thin and lights, which make compromises. It isn't really a difference that matters, but I was surprised to see the TUF (4800H 45W rtx 2060) out bench the G14 4800HS 35W 2060 max-q. One can lower the power and temps on the TUF down the G14, but you can't change the internals of the G14, nor can it handle that heat, nor pack up to 64GB of RAM.

Of course now I know I'd have to either not get the 4800H or pay more, but I still don't know if the Dell runs cooler, than the TUF. I made the guess it wouldn't, because the 5600M runs hotter than a 1660 Ti, but that was just a hypothesis, not a fact. I can't get still under warranty t.i.m. repaste on a Dell, either. yes. i do like a separate wasd, not just for gaming but also for work. photoshop keys sometimes either tactile or just keeping your eye on the ball thing. Also it's understandable to have wasd keys because it's catered for gaming community than the normal vanilla user. - to add..the usb2.0 port on the right side is used for external peripherals such as keyboards and mouse that's used for gamers that has to have a separate keyboard and mouse at home. so it's not needed to have a usb3 port for that side.
