Had a road trip this week & swung by the Academy in Terre Haute, IN. Snagged 2 boxes of 200 Win. 9mm 115 gr. for $70 each. High, but .35/round isn't bad in today's market. Then swung by the RK headquarters store & was disappointed to see they had less than my local RK. Had some Norma .22LR @ $8/50. I've got plenty of .22's & that's more than I'll pay. Those Hornady VMax bullets work great for me in 35, 40, 50, & 60gr for all my rifles in 22 Hornet, 222, 223, & 22-250. Good video; I always enjoy your informative no BS reports.

Any advice for someone getting into the ammo game right now? Is it too late to start reloading? Should I just wait it out? I live in Denver, CO... so ammo is usually kinda hard to come by regularly compared to other areas.
@ToolsandTargets3 жыл бұрын
Never too late but it's a struggle finding some of the components for sure. Best thing I would say is don't stress out over it if you can help it. Any ammo you have is probably enough to hold you until something changes up to be honest. If you're interested in reloading as a hobby, I would say go for it and start buying your equipment and scouting around some ranges if you have access to any for some free brass. By the time you get that happening, components may start getting easier to find. If you're thinking of starting to reload as an alternate source of ammo, it's gonna be tougher to find the components right now than factory ammo to be completely honest.😆

if you want reloading data for the Green Dot for the 9mm try to find a speer reloading manual or you can call me for the info. you have my number. as for ammo, most that are paying those prices are the new gun owners. as for prices coming down, maybe a litte but they are getting everyone used to the new normal. they also relize they can hold back on ammo stock and raise the price saying shoratges when in reailty they are causing the shortages to make more of a profit. sad thing is many new shooters will pay the price so why should they lower prices. stay safe everyone.

* I’ve seen up to $25/100 primers, and they sell. Pistol parlor, a local shop, hasn’t had any primers for 6 months. * those shelves of yours are mostly bare. If it were food or toilet paper, people would be freaking out. And, how long does the ammo sit there? They can stock the shelves here, and then before the days out, it’s gone again for another 2-3 weeks. It’s not a shortage, but “punishment”. Like the pipeline thing is punishment for not getting electric cars fast enough, or digging in with the fossil fuels.

Yeah, I was looking on the alliant site and it's primarily a shotshell powder but they have data for 10mm, .45, and .44magnum. In regards to Alliant Green Dot: I use it for nearly all of my pistol calibers (it even works in 44 Magnum in a pinch, just not a very fast load haha) 9mm is excellent (I've run it under 115's, 124's, and 147's with no issues) 45 ACP 230 grain ball is EXCELLENT And don't forget 44 Special (slow but heavy 240's) I even stuff a bunch into 357 Magnum cases and go to town with a Henry Model X. Not the fastest loads in the world, but it's fast burning and doesn't have much muzzle flash even in a snubbie revolver. It's also a really good shotgun powder. It doesn't meter THAT well, but with a good trickler, you can cook up some great loads with Green Dot. And it goes a LONG way.
@ToolsandTargets3 жыл бұрын
Good info. I did go back and pick up a pound of it. From what I'm seeing, 4.7 gn seems to be what most people are using for 9mm. The older Alliant manuals call for a max of 5.2. You're right, at those numbers, that one pound will go a long way.😎
