For sure a very underrated drummer as has been stated on KZbin ad nauseam..Also for this song in particular, his great fills were brought more forward in the mix..George Martin's genius? McCartney cooling down later on and doing what was best for the song? Lennon being ok with that because it was his song on the album? Prob a little bit of all.............

I think this is the best non Beatles version of this song ever done and the Analogues perform it live splendidly. I don't know for sure, because I've never met a Beatle, but the reason they never performed this song live was because they'd given up touring to make recordings. They did play some of the Revolver songs when they were in Japan in 1966, but that's the only time I know. It was difficult to replicate some of the studio effects but not impossible. It would have been time consuming for the group and for the event promoters to have done so anyway. Besides, with all the screaming going on, it would have been a waste of time. So, they just made their music in the studio and attended a few events here and there and that's what we have. But before they stopped touring, they had performed live thousands of times, just not after 1966. That's why it's nice to have the Analogues with their love of the music, do what the Beatles couldn't, or didn't do.

@@genegantii8638 I also read that John had a difficult time with "I want to tell you" because of the tricky beat and off kilter chord structure and suggested to George that he simplify it a bit but George told him that it was written that way so that's how it goes. Of course I wasn't there and I doubt the person who wrote the words to the story were there also...

@yaba daba No, I never met one, and I'll most likely not ever. I've always been a fan of them since I saw them on the ESS that winter day long ago. I've moved on to other music now, but every once in a while I go back to focus on a certain song. It depends on how I feel at the time. I'm happy that you were able to meet them though. All 4 of them. Not many can say the same.

If you haven’t seen the documentary, you’ll be missing the backstory about the acquisition of all the Analogue instruments from the 1960’s. Quite an endeavor.
