Reducing the platting as you go shouldn’t matter for the tapering, should it? I mean, try platting a pipe with 4 plat vs 16 plat, it will still have the same diameter.

Cool video. I thought we'd be able to see all the layers of plaiting nice and tight on the inside. Not frayed at all. Are there any advantages over adding a concho or not?

while I was watching your video they remind me of the Adam Savage whip you were making and I thought I'd be super cool if you could do it tutorial on plaiting letters because it's so hard to find any videos of people doing it I've read books on it but it's hard to translate to the real world without a video. I've found out some KILLER secrets from 5-Stars whip makers just by cutting open their whips. The way I like to dissect a whip is to cut off the fall hitch and unravel the overlay and bellies.

And so it is! I guess I learned that saying incorrectly in my childhood, haha. I do not use vinyl tape on the interior of my whips anymore, but I do use it in the construction process. For the interior I do use some hockey tape (thanks Nicks Whip Shop!).
