Is it possible to change to another grease product before the one in use is empty, or is that asking for one big mess?

Good question. But yes, you can absolutely pull the plunger out lock it, remove the existing cylinder and put your new cylinder in. Of course there will be some grease in the tube and if you don’t want to use that grease, you need to expel it first before the new Comes down the line. Consider subscribing. Thanks. Joe.

@@JosephHunstad Dear Dr Joe, thanks for your reply, what I also like to know about is , is there a rule about how the black washer is placed on the rod depending on if you use a cartridge or grease straight in the gun ? I have the problem that the grease goes on wrong side of the black washer with the result that I run out of grease well before I used all grease, and when I pull the rod back a lot of grease comes out the wrong end of gun ,please help.thanks by the way I thought I fixed the problem by putting grease gun in the refrigerator but still problems.

OK at this point, I think you get to buy a new plunger I believe because if it’s leaking grease that goes behind it that plunger is no good.

Ah the grease gun, the 8th Wonder of the World. A long mulled over mystery but everyone’s too ashamed to admit it. Haha jk (kinda)👍
