iirc, I think they said killing Davoth would also kill all the demons OUTSIDE of Hell. Meaning that there's still an enormous amount of demons and the possibility of future games. It's just that the demons are back at square 1 in their multiversal conquest.

ok so late comment but going by the way they made the dark lord fight a dlc, and the q&a/interviews hugo has made id is probably getting tired of the same easthetic of hell; fire and brimstone and chains, so here is the idea they are not going forward with just the wraiths but a lovecraftian theme/aspect of hell.

The whole debacle in regards to Davoth is just so damn infuriating for me. I love id, but they really shot themselves on the foot with a shotgun with how they handled Davoth. Such a wasted character that really wasn´t given justice, especially since he´s been the unseen antagonistic presence since the very first game and they go and decide to give him a lame hulk buster, then make the supposed creator of everything, a supposed omnipotent and all powerful being, be in a fight that doesn´t even showcase said supposed abilitiess and then die by a blade...
