Misoginy is one thing, the main reason why the band was hated is because is a band with a huge female fanbase. Also, he is different. He is not the typical angry drug addict and predator rock star that we see constantly. He is genuinely a nice person that's been with the same partner for so many years...completely different representation of the "sex drugs and rock and roll" fuckboy vibe. He is also very well spoken, humble and smart. So for people who are also used to see a lot of other singers who can't do a proper sentence because of all the substances they have on, can be intimidating.

@Pierrue Yes, he spoke about it vocally in interviews for years. The forms of OCD he has are very common with people who also have ADHD. He has also spoke about it in his book, I think, but it has been several years since I read it, so I'm not entirely sure.

I met Andy about two years ago or so, at Steel City Con, in Pittsburgh PA. He was a genuine and a humble guy. Throughout the whole day, I was freaking out in my head, because I was meeting somebody that means a lot to me(thanks to my fiancé surprising me with tickets). Or I should say, has influenced me to continue to be me and do better. Has helped better my life. I was about 16 years old, when I had a slight connection with Sumerian records. Black Veil Brides inspired me, and I did a lot of covers. To the point of being contacted by them, and I turned them down because it was just me and no band. Plus being in high school, and I felt as if I never would’ve made it anyways. By the time I met him, I pretty much froze up and basically got to shake his hand before getting a photo with him. There was so much I wanted to say and express, but I felt bad for the man, because he’s been working like a dog. I overheard him saying “Fuck, I need some coffee”. And from there, I didn’t want to bother him. I’m glad I didn’t, but there is still a part of me that wished I would’ve been able to speak more to him. Because I know I’m not the only fan and won’t be the last to tell him how much he and his band means to me. But somehow I hoped that what I had to say, would have him remember me. I know it sounds ridiculous and slightly “into myself”, but what I said I have good intentions. Watching this interview, definitely made me wish I had said something. If you read this Andy or Nik, I just wanted to say thank you for this interview! Genuinely, I hope to meet Andy one day, again. It will never happen, but I am sending an invite to Andy to my wedding. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to speak this humble of a guy, one day.

Pretty sure Andy is a vampire - he has not visibly aged a day. BVB's music has gotten me through so many rough times for more than a decade, and it is such a nice thing to see that their lead singer seems so genuine and down to earth, like someone that can really represent the music he creates, and I appreciate that so much. I knew he had been through some rough patches over the years (what metal musician/singer hasn't though - it's almost a rite of passage) but he really sounds like he's living his best life right now and living for his art and his music and his family, which is hugely inspirational. He really is just an introverted, casually sarcastic dude who loves music and loves sharing it. I really enjoyed this interview - Nik is a fantastic interviewer and had some awesome questions, Andy is genuinely a delight, and this has got me so, so excited for this upcoming tour! See you in Dallas!!! As a sidenote: the fact that Andy's first musical obsession was a Sondheim musical is incredibly endearing and I love it

This is honestly one of my favorite interviews I’ve ever watched. Two of my favorite folks (favorite KZbinr and favorite singer) just vibing and getting into some real shit but also being goofy and real in that way. It’s just so refreshing, honestly. So much you see nowadays is so heavily curated and this is literally just these guys being themselves and Andy showing appreciation for the fans feels so sincere. How anyone gives BVB so much hate is beyond me. Even if their music isn’t your cup of tea, there’s no reason to put so much energy into that, especially when they’re such good guys and there are, like Nik said, bands out there doing shitty stuff who don’t get NEARLY as much hate. And some of them are like even in the same genre, so it’s not like they get less hate bc their music is that different even. Like, make it make sense. I think Andy made a really good point about the misogyny in the metal scene coming into play. In the emo scene, it’s more accepted to have a lot of female fans, but in the metal scene, not so much, and since they kind of exist in both spheres, they’re gonna get this weird mix of a huge fan base that loves them but also a ton of haters, and that’s a weird place to be in, but I’m glad it sounds like they use both sides of that coin to inspire and drive them forward. I love how they turn that into momentum for themselves and how Andy personally uses it to drive him, rather than it breaking them down or making them give up (thank goodness they didn’t bc their music means so much to so many of us, myself included!) I also love that he gave props to Ronnie bc that’s another guy in the scene who gets a lot of unnecessary hate (albeit for totally different reasons, but still), but still uses both the positivity and negativity he receives to drive him and his band forward. Makes sense that they’re friends and tour together bc they have that mindset in common. They’re also both sober, so they can support each other in that on the road. Much respect to both these guys. Andy said there’s a huge age range at their shows, well my mom and I literally have seen BVB together multiple times, as well as Falling in Reverse, and saw them both on this most recent tour together. We’re big fans and we love supporting these guys. Seeing Andy and Ronnie on the same stage in the same night was just such an amazing experience. They have such different energies, but also so much in common in some ways, and I absolutely adore that they’re friends and support each other no matter what despite all the hate they both get. And I love that neither of them shy away from the fact that they have large amounts of female fans and don’t try to overcompensate and appeal to guys more for that or let it delegitimize their music in any way. They know they’re serious musicians (both are so dedicated to their craft, which is how they’re able to have this longevity and why I listen to them both so much), and no one can take that away from them, as much as they try to. Having female fans in no way makes you less legit of a musician or a creative force, which both of these guys VERY much are. Beyond the musical components of their sounds and such, they also both have some of the most intricate, detailed concepts in their music. I love Ice Nine Kills for the same reason, which Nik also mentioned. All three of these bands seriously commit to whatever concept they’ve chosen to pursue creatively and as Andy said, “whole ass it” 😂 but that’s just so true. Much respect to these guys for everything they’re doing for the scene and the music industry as a whole. Keeping the standard high and making amazing music and content for us all to enjoy. Much love and respect!

Black Veil Brides must have gotten inspired by Motionless in White and Ice Nine Kills during the Trinity of Terror Tour because Bleeders is by far thee most heavy BVB song I’ve ever heard and I’ve been a fan since the Original Knives and Pens and I used to think The Legacy was the heaviest they wrote until I heard this one and granted I still love all the original stuff but god damn Bleeders is a whole new level of heavy and I love it!!!

Yesss Soundwave in Australia, saw them there and their little side gig as their first Aussie performance. They're amazing.
