As a Country American, I can confirm that there are plenty of country metal heads. It usually sucks for us though cause every show is at least an hour away. Metalcore and Post Hardcore are easily 2 of the most liked genres around here.

Cory from wage war, Hardy, and Johnny are all friends and Cody has helped produce and write a lot of Hardy’s country core stuff. Cody has also helped write on a lot of the more recent FIR songs! Though Billmuri might have had a little to do with it, Cody is the guy making the most waves behind the scenes with country core. Fun fact corned yetis, the last part of the song is uncredited but it’s Hardy!

I feel like most bands do this with a goal in mind. It feels like they are constantly seeking a bigger stage and a larger audience. With Bilmuri, I have always gotten the vibe that they are content and just having a good time, wherever they are. If they are playing small venues or big stadiums, they will bring the same energy and the vibe wont change. Love it.

it's interesting to hear about the impact of Warped Tour demonstrating to this day considering we've all grown up since then. it makes sense bc "emo" was nationwide. by then, the Warped Tour culture was more than just punk. I saw Flipper, The Adolescents, Less than Jake, Bad Religion as well as Senses Fail, I Set My Friends on Fire, and A Day to Remember; the year I went in 2009. I remember how insular genre subcultures were. people hated this other rock/alt genre if they like this rock/alt genre. I hated it because I always enjoyed multiple genres. I had emo hair in middle school and scene hair in high school but regularly would be at a pop punk, metal, hardcore, or punk show once I got old enough. I actually was surprised by younger people than me not really having these hangups.

Another reason why metalcore/country have intersected is because the guys who grew up with that music are starting families and owning homes now, and country just appeals more to adult/family sensibilities. All my buddies who loved metalcore back in the day, along with myself, are all approaching 30 now and enjoy a good country song now.

100% agree with johnny, the south loves metalcore here. even if you think about it in the late 2000s when a lot of softer bands started popping up like faber drive, boy likes girls, click five, etc...those always felt like SUPER country which is why i was a big fan of it back then, being a closet 90s neotraditional country fan but i couldnt tell my parents because i made fun of country growing up for too long lol
