☢️ I cannot really recall the last dystopian book I read. There is almost certainly an example, but none pop to mind as I type. So I’d have to say this is an under-read genre in my own reading. I have no clear answer why I don’t often enter that orbit 🧐 I should do a review of my shelves, I know there are some examples on there… : [goes away and does some filtering on his StoryGraph data] : Well now, here’s an interesting thing that backs up my thinking above. In my … let’s call it substantial, so I can avoid actual numbers 😜… Library I own a mere 36 books that have been tagged as “dystopian” on The StoryGraph. I was actually thinking of Patrick Tilley’s “The Amtrak Wars” but it isn’t tagged as such. Of those that I’ve read, they were all read in the 2014-2017 range except for one, “Tender is the Flesh”, which I read last year. So there you go, an actual answer to my opening thought.
