@cecilelebleu5984

Whenever you buy a tee, check that it doesn't have any seams at the sides (it won't get misshapen after a wash) OR that the knit is horizontal. Check the very bottom seam near the hips, and follow the lines of the fabric to see if it's aligned properly. Often times, especially in quick/cheap/mass-produced/fast fashion, they will cut as many shirts as they can from a single sheet of fabric, without caring about the orientation, so then when you wash it the natural direction of the fabric is sideways and you end up with almost a spiral. So always check that the fabric is horizontal, or that it follows the stitching lines.

I like the fact that you said what you thought was wrong FOR YOU. Cause it is a way for us to adapt to our personalities, lifestyles and tastes. For example, I have a straw bag, granted, not the round chic ones that are trendy, but I use mine year round, as a beach bag, handbag and most definitely market bag every weekend when I do my groceries. It's just about what we like and what we want, but your tips help us apply what you're showing us, to ourselves, which is very useful, thank you!

Love the concept ! I made myself an anti-haul months ago and I keep it updated since. Sometimes trends seems tempting, even for my sixties-english-classics, rock'n'roll-preppy ass, and it's nice to discern what you really want in your closet and what made its way in your head thanks to ads and Instagram. About the vacation books, when I feel the urge to read that trashy, beachside novels, I buy them second hand and take them back to the store after the holiday. My Kindle is my treasure library !

I wear maxi dresses all through spring, summer and fall. I live in the bay area which is cold all year round, therefore a maxi dress paired with a denim jacket is appropriate for the chilly weather as it provides protection from the wind( SF-bay area is windy pretty much all year round and gets chilly after sunset) and also looks cute.

I bought my first maxi dress this year. It’s not a flowery/beach kind necessarily (grey and white stripes) and the main reason why I got it is that I get lazy sometimes when it comes to waxing (sshhh 🤭), so I can cover up but still feel summery. Also got my first one piece bathing suit and love it. It has camouflage tummy control for the exact reasons you mentioned (food babies and stays in place). I’m all for the anti haul because we tend to give in to trends so quickly particularly when all you see are “must haves”! Kinder to the environment and my wallet 😆

I always regret buying sth without trying it on or buying clothes I don’t love because I can’t find what I’m really looking for. Only ever buy clothes you need and adore when you try it on. I shop by myself so I can take my time and not listen to anyone pressure me. And if a shopkeeper tells me that something looks great on me I sure as hell don‘t buy it (made that mistake before, but never again).

So funny to see this subject being covered. I just bought a trendy white poof tops with the eyelet embroidery that have become super popular this year. I was so excited until I tried it on and realized it was totally unflattering to my body shape and looked silly as hell on me. As soon as I put it on I looked in the mirror and thought "They got me!" Luckily, I can return it but it was a nice reminder that trends aren't always what they seem.

Always great to hear the advice you have! If you need a romp of a crime novel that has a bit of fantasy in it and is an excellent summertime read, there is an awesome series by Ben Aaronovich called “Rivers of London”. It’s set in present-day London and follows a young cop’s venture into magic-related detective work. I loved these books because the characters are really diverse, the writing is so relatable that you forget you’re reading and it’s like watching a movie, and the plots are so gripping that they’re hard to put down. I realize that magic sounds hokey af, but despite this they’re definitely 10/10, would recommend.

I used to be so turned off by those minimalism/low waste content but now I must say I really enjoy it. I noticed that channels promoting buying stuff all the time made me anxious and I think that's because I'm not used to buy so much myself since I live in the middle of nowhere. I personally purchase some sort of summery dress each year and often regret buying them some time after. I just don't particularly enjoy wearing dresses 😅

I collected a couple maxi/summer long dresses over the years and I use them EVERY summer. I live outside of Chicago, so it gets pretty hot and sticky - need to air everything out. But I’m picky about the shape and length, so I really don’t have a lot of them. They are coming very handy this summer because I’m reaching the end of my pregnancy... I fill it out more, but they still fit well! And they cover my puffy ankles. 😁

if you like music but missed anything from the past, for instance i'm only now getting into Prince and Pet Shop Boys (i only knew a few hits because i didn't have a radio back then! back when a radio was an expensive luxury!) and early Stevie Wonder, you can enjoy listening to them in high definition for virtually free by buying CDs for 1p + postage online and slightly more in charity shops - the higher definition does help with eg Prince it's much better quality and you can rip a copy of the ones you like then redonate!

Hate distressed jeans. Already have a bathing suit I love. Need bangs because of my receding hairline. Love that yellow socks. Kathy B. P.S. I go to the library for books like that.

I love my books, only use my kindle for holidays, but I always pass my books on to friends or I donate them to charity book shops x

I quite enjoy this type of video. You hear over and over about hauls from so many other people. Personally, I find hauls boring. This though, I can dig it.

I've been really trying to stick to my guns and just buy timeless pieces with the exceptions of a few showstopper items (To me that's three different maxi dresses that I love. Hey Jenny, they make me look and feel like an amazonian goddess, mmmkay?) I've decided to only buy one new item this summer that is for my wardrobe and that is a pair of Celine sunglasses. I've always wanted them ever since I watched Audrey Hepburn in breakfast at Tiffany's and how they just lift every single outfit from casual to effortlesly chic. I'd rather try and narrow down my wardrobe to something chic that I would want to wear for each season and for it to be in better quality

I thought over-sized sunglasses was a short lived trend but they're still going strong and I love it

I live in maxi dresses and I definitely wear them all year around, just pop a legging under it and a jeans jacket and I’m ready to go.

Yessss to all!!! I fully regret the one maxi dress I’ve ever purchased.... for all reasons described above 🙌🏼😉 and dang tell me about it with the bangs. It’s so hard to not go for it. They’re gorg, but so high maintenance
