I started a channel a few months ago and post every week and have definitely felt anxiety about sharing stuff whether it be my videos or my photography or music. Just found your channel today, I'm an aspiring Dp from Cameroon, Africa. I most definitely relate with everything you said in this video. For as far as i can remember it's been so hard for me to share my work with people who know me. This covid 19 situation has recently put me in a rut. I struggle to create and at the end of the day i beat myself up. I'm slowly getting myself back together to be on track. I am watching all of your videos and you are motivating me to get myself together and actually start creating the type of things i love and to finally start KZbin. Stay safe out there and keep being grate Danny.

I love this, dude! I also firmly believe that if we create something very honest and persona to us, people will resonate with it. Sometimes quality is secondary if the message and the content are unique and genuine. At least that's how I've felt with my vids. But thanks for sharing that!

I can't get enough of your work man. I just finished a 1 hour documentary on a very relevant subject, but because it's my first doc, I've been so scared to show people. Man tom says it perfectly. I always know which few people are going to criticize IMMEDIATELY, and inevitably they do. When I sit down and talk to them they almost always come out with insecurities and admit they just wish they'd had the guts to do it themselves, but doesn't justify the hate. Gotta keep chasing that dream! Already looking forward to the next video man (but no rush) ...p.s. nothing wrong with looking like an ass.

Thank you for sharing this!!! I am turning into 30 this year, and finally have enough courage to do what I really love, that is to express myself through filmmaking. I studied Finance and now working in banking industry. Everyone tells me that I have to get a stable job that would pay the bills, keep me alive. But this job literally makes me feel like I'm dying. Also I was really afraid that the reality of not being good at what I like would destroy even more. Now I am steadily overcoming that fear, and even though the anxiety still kicks in every now and then, it feels great every time I picked up the camera. Even writing down this comment got me second guessing myself

When I started making youtube videos in 2016 I did everything within my power to ensure not a single of my real friends found them. I vlogged in English (I'm, from Norway), made a fake persona, and only filmed when no-one was around. After a while, they obviously found out and actually wanted to make some videos with me. Great experience. A few years later I moved to a new small town and quit making videos. I couldn't stand the idea of being judged as a new student thousands of miles from home. It took me two years to pick up the camera and make youtube videos again. Thank you for fueling me with inspiration and knowledge, I'm still anxious and not as good in front of the camera I used to be but I think I'll get there. Thank you for the tutorials, and again, thank you for the inspiration

This is what I needed. I am just starting to learn about film making and I was so light-minded and free starting into this new hobby. Seven little films later I start to feel the pressure that is building up in me, every time I post a new film. It is super annoying and I miss the joy it gave me in the first place. But you are right, I think I just started caring too much about everyone else and lost the focus on myself, discovering this incredibly wonderful Fujifilm X-T3 (sorry for the surreptitious advertising -- but for me it just is 🤷🏽♂️😁). The one thing I noticed as a filmmaker is the reason for our success is not the people close to us but the people who dont know us which is sad. People close to us for some reason dont want us to succeed. At least in my life. The reason for my success is all people who are not related to me...but on the side of that. Keep bringing content man. Dont stop. Dont question yourself. And move on to the next 👍

I felt this a lot! I used to be extremely nervous and anxious when telling people about my music. I’d even tell people at college that I don’t have an IG because if they found it, they’d see all my music and I was afraid that they’d think it was trash and view me differently. When it comes to sharing stuff like my mini films or videos I make, I’m extremely confident in those lol. My music is so personal to me though and is basically me putting all my feelings out there to be judged so that’s why I’m so protective over it. I’ve gotten great feedback from people on it though (and over a million streams on Spotify and Apple too, which helped my confidence a lot, knowing people enjoy listening to it!), and am slowly gaining the confidence to be more straightforward about my music in person lol. I think one of the most important things to remember is to not judge your self worth based on how others view you. Great vid.

Loved this video, Danny! Big appreciation for you being open and honest about how you felt about posting and sharing. Starting a channel is something I've always wanted to do but I've always got in my head about it. It's reassuring to see someone who took the leap - good for you man!

Rewatched, man, the courage it took to actually say the closest to you don't even acknowledge you and say it hurts. Damn. I feel the same way, but im not sure if its something i can actually say out loud. Thanks for that

Danny, yet another amazing video and such great reminders! I've watched almost all your videos and I can hear the emotion in your voice here the most, so sincere and true. I've been sitting on so many things photography and film related that haven't gone any where due to the barriers you mentioned, but I'm passing them every day and doing what I enjoy. Thanks brother.

You are an absolute legend. The timing of this is so helpful for me, having posted something I normally don't today & feeling like it was a failure because it's not getting the same kind of views my videos normally get. Thanks for doing what you do & making what you make, Danny.

I've been slowly coming to similar conclusions myself but it is great to hear it from someone else. Makes me feel a little less lonely. At the end of the day, speak your own truth and the people who resonate with that truth will emerge around you.

Man this is so true... I have been struggling with self doubt and had created and deleted so many videos. I've been working hard to try and get past that and posted my first YT video a few weeks ago. I have read so many books about over coming these kinds of feelings and in my line of work I work with clients every day and have helped employees overcome these fears. I think that when you stand in front of a camera and created something the feelings are so different than when you are sharing the products and services of a company. If the customer doesn't like the products that I offer them its the company's products. When someone judges my videos its my creation and I think that cuts a little deeper. Great video sir, keep it up!

Danny...you have no IDEA how much I needed this right now. I am absolutely obsessed with content creation and KZbin but I haven't posted in 6 months. I've been editing a video for a week now but I felt insecure about myself and whether I should upload or not. I was about to scrap the whole video, but this video really helped me collect my thoughts and push through the edit. I wrote down a bunch of things you said on sticky notes and put them in a bunch of places in my room. Thanks for making this video! I feel a LOT better now :)

Hey Danny, You are super awesome, I feel some of the issues is that some filmmakers are cut off from others that are passionate about the same topic, so even that can affect you. It's nice to find your channel, particularly during the lockdown. Thanks for still creating.
