The MSPSL routine is the routine we use for every junction which breaks down as
Mirrors - always checked in pairs
Signal - The direction of travel
Position - Changes depending on direction of travel
Speed - Just slow down
Look - On roundabouts look right as you give way to the right BUT Look everywhere.

I hate the Mill Hill circus roundabout. I think it’s way worse than Apex. Apex scared the crap out of me when I was learning to drive 😅 you should do a video on Mill Hill circus approaching it from every point. I’ve been driving nearly seven years and it still makes me nervous 😂

Hey, have you got any vids on the road markings like the broken white lines and solid lines at stop signs and in the middle of the road? How hot on them are they in the tests?

(BTW in the UK the police seem to make all their money from speeding tickets and cameras. In Japan because of a privacy law from the 60s, which says police can't use cameras to capture a suspect before they've committed a crime, they can hardly use speed cameras. So to make a few quid, they hide around stop signs hoping drivers will roll over the line then pounce and give them a fine - I got done for not stopping at no more than 2kph).

When entering at the Apex van hire sign entrance , is there a right 4th exit ? Because there is that further section for EDG

Apex has a total of 4 exits so if you’re turning right it can only be a right 3rd exit, unless you’re going around again.

So I can change lanes on roundabout but do i need to signal every changing lane. And after that put back signal on for my exit (if I go from very right to te left I indicate but because I dont leave it yet I put right indicator back on) and then left become exit ? When you are on a spiral roundabout your lane is moving you left. You are not lane changing. So if you’re not lane changing do you need to signal? If you are on a regular roundabout you would be lane changing at the point you need to in which case you need to signal. Maybe I need to a video clarifying this…

No the road markings don’t take you to the 3rd exit. But you can change lanes to the left lane after the second exit. Any more questions I’m happy to help!

@@mostafaissa1819 yes I understood you but you kind of answered the question yourself. The road markings indicate A1 north and Totteridge neither of which are at the 3rd exit. I can see why you think it’s possible as technically that lane leads there but the road markings don’t correspond.

You have to work out now when turning right it might be best to change lanes because if you have to stop for a pedestrian you are not straggling the entrance lane to your left where a vehicle entering wouldn't see your break lights because you are side on and the pedestrian doesn't concern him he is going straight on and the law states if you are hit from behind its his responsibility

You could be right. For this roundabout the road markings indicate you can exit from the middle but on other roundabouts, where they are not light controlled, pedestrians could be waiting to cross.

My instructor has told me the right lane on the mill hill circus is for U turn only and she tells me to take middle lane for third exit. I've explained to her that I've seen several videos of instructors saying take the right lane and then change to the middle lane but she said that's incorrect. What's your thought on this as I'm really confused and if I was to do what she told me to do would I fail on my test? Thank you for the videos by the way so helpful!

It’s a terrible roundabout… My answer is simple. What do the road markings tell you to do? It’s not forbidden to change lanes on a roundabout but this particular roundabout is very tricky. It just requires practise and to be done safely. You can always go around again if you can’t quite get across. But as I said before it’s a terrible roundabout.

Middle lane A1N take you to 3rd exit left lane and make it easy to take the exit . For milhill circus Yes it is difficult to move to 3rd exit need a lot of training

With practise, you’ve got this!! For Mill Hill circus Don’t take the middle lane. If you want the left lane you need to change lanes after second exit .

I think is alright, the crucial part is at 7:11, to check mirrors and at 7:14 signal left and move towards the left (if is safe). This will put you in the middle lane out of the 2 left lanes at that point, and then you and the car next you on the left, both exit the roundabout, BY TURN, as there is no priority there and the road narrows fast. So yes maybe a bit tricky, but if you do it twice correctly you'll understand it. You have to be cautious of cars on the left when you will move left from the right lane tho. If it was my test and I see a car there, I wont even indicate, probably I'll do a lap or take the exit after, better safe and and wrong exit, than dangerous and correct-exit.

There has always been traffic lights on the Apex apart from that one entrance, right 3rd exit toward Mill Hill Circus.

From Edgeware way to Watford way it is complex but from other directions it’s more straightforward. I was highlighting the importance of reading road signs/markings. I hope you found it useful 👍

Is the entire APEX roundabout spiral? meaning that if you choose the right lane and stick to it, you will spiral-out and exit either on the left or right lane(on exit). What Im trying to ask, is if is fully spiral and at any state you don't have to cut across lanes. ?

It tries to be. It might depend from which direction you’re coming from. In theory that’s exactly how a spiral roundabout is supposed to function, but depending on how much space they have on construction of the roundabout will directly effect whether they can make it a perfect spiral. The VERY important takeaway from this video is read road markings and practise your lane discipline so that if the construction of the roundabout is not 100% correct or you slip up and take the wrong lane, you’re aware of your positioning and make the right decision. If you are in the wrong lane for your route directed exit, what should you do?
