Apple has unintentionally created the best dumb phone. Someone needs to figure out how to make a case with an extended battery.

There is one already circulating on Amazon: amzn.to/3Yv0Bgt I ordered it this week, but we'll see how it works and if its reliable.

@ you’re in luck because there is such a thing. It’s called the tinypod.

@@JoseBriones I noticed that case as well but it’s extremely inefficient since it is using wireless charging. The watch has a small access cover with contact pads inside one of the slots where the bands go. I think that’s disguised as a regular lightning port so it could be used to charge the device and interface with a generic usb keyboard controller to add more buttons or even a T9 keypad with some wizardry. Someone’s going to figure this out and make a ton of money with it.

The timing of this video could not have been more perfect! Just bought an Apple Watch yesterday with this setup in mind. Still trying to decide if I’d want to go down the Light Phone 3 + Apple Watch Ultra setup (for fitness related things + staying in group iMessages), or if I’d want to try this case out and use the Apple Watch by itself. Thanks for the super informational video! Its helpful to have someone dig into the features from a phone minimalist perspective

In my digital minimalism journey this was the best stop along the way. I just left my iPhone plugged in at home and took my watch with me. The only big downside was phone calls. But i was used to carrying my AirPods with me anyways. But when I moved i had to change carriers and the one i moved to did not support lte watches. It was the only thing that actually ended up being more minimal. I find myself carrying a lot of things these days. Flip phone Kindle Digital camera iPad mini (for my job) But when i just had my watch i never had to worry about carrying a phone cause i wore my watch everyday already. Also they have battery cases for the Apple Watch. Mine is the Apple Watch 48mm (the bigger one) se and i never had to worry about the battery. I kept a charger in my car and would plug it up when i went anywhere. Especially if i was going to use it for maps. I will definitely be looking into us cellular so thanks or putting us onto it.

US Mobile is great and their support is very good for alternatives like these :) Glad to hear the watch worked for you as well!

Loved the video. Since you mentioned in the livestream last time I was waiting for it. I saw the ultra 2 second hand for the same price as the s10 brand new. But I couldn’t find any case for such a big watch. Also the battery back case for the s series is not in portrait mode so makes no sense. I think for now the best option is the LP3 kind of same price here in Europe all of this options. Very hard decision, what’s makes me go for the LP3 at the end is the philosophy of the company. Giving support for the phones in the long term. Also get an Apple Watch that’s run out of battery when is brand new, imagine in 2 years. I think for me the best phone should be small, light, decent battery, and good support so I can use it for many years. But makes me really curious the little info about the LP3 in the battery life is a question mark for now…

I just bought the Apple Watch ultra. Since it only comes in the cellular I decided to turn it on and spend the 10 bucks a month to try it out. Big waste of 10 bucks. When my iPhone shows 3-4 bars of service the watch shows 1 and it takes 5 minutes to send an iMessage if at all. Maybe if you live in a big city with outstanding cell service it would be fine. just not where I live.

@@JoseBriones Curious about the Apple Watch LTE signal range if wearing it in a pocket? Great perspective shared above here and anyone else have observations on range, and also battery life with playing downloaded music or streaming music?

I see some of you longing for click wheels. The tiny pod offers a click wheel version of what is shown here, as well as a wheelless one similar to what is shown here! They are lowkey expensive through.

I just want a candy bar phone of this size and form factor. Why won't anyone make one? Obviously I'm not looking for an Apple device. I want FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack, 1-week battery life, clear phone calls, a contacts list, an alarms app, and maybe a game of snake. That's it. No texts. No camera. No directions app...

We need this for a WearOS watch. Also the case needs battery and a bluetooth keyboard. I’m an apple user but WearOS should be more versatile with things like a keyboard.

When I first started my digital minimalist journey I bought an Apple Watch in thinking it would take me away from my iPhone, but sadly I had to have my iPhone with me for it to work ooff 😂 Now I'm rocken the Sunbeam F1 pro.

The problem for me is that you need to pay extra on top of an existing expensive mobile plan to share the phone number with your iphone. Apple watch doesn’t let you just have just a cheap phone plan.
@JoseBriones2 күн бұрын
With US Mobile you can have a standalone plan without the need of an iPhone plan. That's what I just did with this line

I don't get the point of this case. Why is this more minimalistic than wearing it on your wrist? I see no advantage.
@JoseBriones2 күн бұрын
It’s just to not have the screen accesible all the time. Another option.
@calmpuffin2 күн бұрын
It makes it easier to use, if you use an AW it can be a bit difficult to use nested menus and such while holding your wrist up

Or at the very least, allow the Apple Watch to be setup using an iPad, MacBook, Mac and even a Windows Computer Running iTunes.
