That's what I liked about the series - that she refrained from using the five letter F word - which DT tried to have patented or copyrighted. Instead she used different, kinder, gentler but firm words to say the same thing (e.g. "you just don't fit in") and sent letters to the eliminated candidates.

Yes! And she made it clear that this was a 12 week interview. You can't fire someone who does not work for you. Telling them, "Hey, this was an interview, and you’re not a good fit" make so much more sense.

Kudos to Ryan for being a wonderful PM on the new, improved Matchstick team! He had an open mind and was encouraging to original members David and Marcela, especially the latter. Liked that Martha herself came down to Chelsea Piers to see them get on the schooner that was their reward - and that she was concerned about their being warm enough for the ride. Phooey on Jim for almost causing Primarius to get thrown out of the Stew Leonards supermarket from his crass remarks whilst selling the salad dressing that caused some customers to complain to management. The others - with the exception of Jennifer - worked well.

I think it was more she was more concerned that Jennifer wasn't tough enough or brave enough to pull Jim from the task once the store manager informed the team of the complaints he received from customers regarding Jim's brash, inappropriate comments during his sales pitch - and that she might not be effective in her regular job as a DA. Agree with you about eliminating him, however. She did make sure to reprimand him regarding his inappropriate behavior.

Am also thinking it's because Jim's drama creating tendencies were good for ratings - in later episode promotions he was being touted as "the male Omarosa".

I’ve produced reality TV, and guys like Jim are what you NEED and wish for - they bring the drama. If all you had was people like Jennifer or Marcella, no one would watch.

The new “Matchstick” is awesome. With negative/lugging Dawn gone, Crazy Jim out, and a new, confident Project Manager who knows how to purge the best from his people made the difference. SOMEBODY send that Jim snake in the grass maniac home, puhleeeze! (Haven’t watched the whole video yet)

AFTER she was in prison - although technically she was somewhat impeded in being able to travel around since this was in part filmed when she was working off her house arrest part of her sentence that was at the end of it. During the second episode's boardroom when Chuck was talking about wanting to quit, Martha gave a lecture about how bad quitting was, giving as an example she never quits even when she was in prison.

Angel Kaye I also think that’s what the producers thought. But he’s too annoying, I think it gives the opposite effect they wanted. It’s sad Jennifer made a much better argument in the boardroom imo.

Personally I think the best decision would have been to eliminate both of these people based on this task. She couldn't control Jim's behavior at all and a real leader has to be able to control the people that they are leading. On the other hand having a person who is that insubordinate and disruptive is equally as bad. Offending people is a surefire way to make sure they never want to do business with you again.

Loved the way that Marcela shined in this episode and that she was so humble. Equally loved how Ryan as PM believed in her and encouraged her plus that he also encouraged David. On the other hand the other team IMO had the salad dressing priced too high - I know the store was supposed to be high end but $3.99 a bottle in 2005?! To me that's pricey for Wish Bone even in 2023 - they would have done better to price it at 2 for $7.00.

Martha’s letter to Jennifer literally said absolutely nothing of significance. It was so generic. I know she was forgettable but come on at least say something about her. Jim wouldn’t last a second on any of the other Apprentice versions. They wouldn’t tolerate his bs.

The letter itself is a polite and empathetic addition to Martha’s version. And Jim was no worse than Omaroso who survived in her seasons.

@@mattheww239 oh yeah Omarosa lol it was unbelievable the things she got away with on the show. On the UK show neither of them would last long at all though. Also the letter was personalised for every other candidate but with Jennifer’s it was just really generic and didn’t say anything unique or personally about her.
