I saw this film last night and I can assure you that it’s a story telling version of what we know about Donald Trump (including things that he admits to himself). It is a story that is focused on how Donald Trump has formed his policital ideology and his life philosophy, which he shares with the world on a daily basis. In the movie you witness his strengths and flaws. Great film.

Fantastic film although I disagree on one point. In terms of political ideologies it shows how maleable he is to get what he wants Roy Cohn is one of the most extremely perverse people to live but Donald gladly became his acolyte to grow power and money. He was featured prominently in Fellow Travelers (a recent Showtime miniseries). What was frustrating about Cohn was he was one of those lifelong Republicans who condemned the 'homosexual lifestyle' and he died of AIDS in the 80s (because Cohn himself was gay).

Well it's about his life, sometimes a story doesn't fit a narrative. The story is basically Trump would have turned out normal had he not met Roy Cohn. I thought the title or the film was very appropriate given Trump was Cohn's apprentice. The story is complete, it starts when Trump meets Cohn and ends with Cohn's death. If you watched Roy Cohn documentaries and know about him before watching this film, I think you'll see the movie in a more favorable light.

I'm someone that does follow political commentary channels on KZbin a lot. So I don't really have a political side I choose since I never voted for each of the major parties start a presidential election i'm more of a Green Party type of guy. I have to agree if you really like Donald Trump this might kind of leave your taste of this movie a bit more on the negative side. However the movie was interesting and did focus a lot on his relationship with Roy, that's why it's called The Apprentice probably. But this movie does show Donald Trump as how he was in personality during that time versus the character of what he morphed into during The Apprentice TV show and what we all know him by now. So yes it changes him more into a human and how his human side basically withered away once he became more powerful so I guess you could say it's a movie about how absolute power could lead to you know corruption or the last bits of humanity of you disappearing.

The only reason why I’m curious to see this movie is that I’m constantly looking for ways to understand him better, and for nine years now I’ve been struggling to figure out why he is the way he is. He does act today like the trailer for the movie insinuates; constantly attacks his opponents, whether his claims are true or not makes no difference to him. He denies everything and never admits to any wrong whatsoever, and the most crucial one that puts our democracy at risk: Under no circumstances, will he ever admit defeat. Yes, that means he will never concede an election no matter how wide the margin is.

Most of the movie could be seen as fairly neutral towards Trump. But then there’s a terrible fictional scene and hints of his drug use. Nobody can say the most talked about person of the past 10 years is “not fascinating”.

Drug use? Interesting.. Trump has always been very clear about not touching drugs.. He never even drank a drop of alcohol. He hates it for experiences he had in his family. So it's indeed very unbelievable.
@well10122 ай бұрын
I felt it was very neutral too. It’s literally shows how anyone, not just Trump, survives the jungle at the highest stakes of capitalism. There’s no denying Trump is a bad man. Anyone would have to be to be in that business. Anyone who becomes a billionaire is no saint, and that includes Taylor Swift. The media is totally dishonest in how it portrays the cult of personality surrounding Trump in terms of his fans. Like yeah, MAGA is a cult, and many do have nefarious purposes for supporting him, but there’s also people who simply don’t care and want the best for their families and hope his policies might benefit them. But there’s also the powerless who know he’s an awful human being, and see him as nothing more than a statement against the narcissistic political elites. If Trump loses the election, life just goes on for these people. But if he wins, life goes on but at least they get some assurance by how upset the people at the top are.

It was a discussion about how this “killer mindset” and the chase for perfection can end up destroying a persons sense of self and their humanity. As someone who is/was a bit more open to the idea of trump I thoroughly enjoyed this film because it has made me consider whether this desire to attain perfection is worth it. It was interesting to explore my own feelings on this topic. On one hand I try to take this never quit attitude into my life, which is what initially drew me to have an interest in trump, but on the other this film has shown me that I need balance. To not become consumed by the continued hunger for growth but instead to focus on my physical and mental health and living a life that has a positive impact on the people that I love. I wholeheartedly believe that everyone would benefit from watching this film, no matter where on the trump spectrum they fall. For those who like him it can help them understand what draws them to him and give them the opportunity to question why and if it is worth admiring such a person. And for those that don’t like him this film it can give them an understanding as to why people become so obsessed with power and money. Also as someone who isn’t American I am so interested in how his second administration will turn out. Is someone so hell bent on perfection the leader you want. I guess we will have to wait and see.

While it couldn't(and shouldn't) cover everything, it did have that through line that allowed the film to work for me. Moreover, even as someone who hates Donald Trump, i was still able to enjoy it because it did start out when he was less hate-able, and was able to really bring the perspective while he is currently a complete monster, he wasn't always that way. And i like that it only told a small part of his history, if they tried to force everything in the pacing would've been all over the place and it would’ve probably just ended up being "and then this happened and then this happened and then this happened,"

The movie is worth a watch, but I am glad I cheated and found it on streaming. It was for those of us who are curious what Roy Cohn and Trump would be like back in the day as Cohn was the most hated criminal lawyer who was a criminal! I liked Stan's Trump. The script takes you from this small unknown Trump with direction and introduces Cohn as he either sees an attractive young man or already knows who he is eyeballing. We don't know! From there, the dedication Roy Cohn gives to Donald in pursuing his real estate ventures is a crash course in a way. Some parties Trump attends do not even hit Trump between the eyes with Cohns own personal life choices. It is all about Donald! That selfishness is on display no matter where life takes, baby Donald. It is like seeing Cohns same steps in the way Donald runs his campaigns and some of his presidency when he was in power. Lastly, by the time the movie had 20 minutes left, I was not disappointed as I'd expect Trump not to ever say thank you, or even Good Luck, when your. Time has come to an end.

It is a very good movie. His detractors will love it if they have any sense. His detractors will not. But it was a real movie with character development. You see changes in his personalty change. Unlike the incredibly one dimensional superhero type portrayal of the Ronald Reagan movie.

I enjoyed it. I was glad Stan didn't try to do Trump's actual voice. I thought Strong was fantastic. Yes, it looks like it was shot on 80s videotape in the 80s part. It's a villain origin story.

I am not fan of him, but for me it was good movie, showing American mentality, the interesting is how he was i media just cause he was rich, it also show that he at the start can choose other way that he was and yes he has some soft post here. For me he he is kind of mafia movie hero, the one young, who was not so bad as for mafia member, ( Micheal Corleone, Walter White, Gennaro from Gommora) that is losing his humanity by time, but getting more money, power and glory.

Very glad they made this movie at this time. It's crucial that we take the focus of the election off of policy and onto things like vibes so Harris can win.

i saw the movie. A low end movie. As a biography it is very short on everything. relationships are never really developed. it shows that trump succeeded through crime and used everyone. I agree with smashing pumpkins on this one, the world is a vampire. blood suckers. if i had to sum up a life on this movie it would be shameful. there are no heroes here. looks like trump got captured and is the antihero. Is there a song for that? he's not good, he's not strong, and he's not larger than life. he's not even a strong man. you know god achieves his goals by the small and understated. in god we trust has been made a joke here. happy birthday Mr. president. we certainly need a break from all the bad leadership in this country.

Just watch the Apprentice if you can find it. I was a fan when it aired. It was certainly entertaining when the celebrities came aboard. You can start to see the deity of trump come about during that show. *fun fact* every person who saw my You’re Fired shirt and blasted me for liking that ahole are all maga now.

I appreciate you reviewing this. But it does seem to have bias and agenda that annoys me. Trump is very polarizing and I think fans of Trump will hate this movie and I think his opponents will love it. It’s clearly makes him out to be a douche bag. Maybe he is I don’t judge. I think the dude is a fascinating character and I wanna understand his headspace, but I don’t really think this movie is what I need to understand that.

@@brockhampton3078 Correct, Adam does a good keeping things vague when it comes to political/religious ideology. But one of the side effects of making vague remarks is people can interpret those remarks to be in their favor because of confirmation bias. To be clear, I'm not at all saying he should be more blunt, this is a movie channel, after all. That said, when he rants about people's fragility (like in the Turning Red Rant) it's hilariously enjoyable!

I have just watched, since I am not american and my idea of him is that he os this cult like figure that is portraid by his audience like a good and by the other half like a demon... I foumd this movie very refreshing, it humanises Donald as a person nurtured by his circunstances. Maybe was because the ticket cost me 3$ so it was really a bargin of a cinematic experience

I thought this review was unfairly lukewarm. I loved the film. In answer to your question "who is this for?" I would say it's for people like me who are fascinated by Trump but also find him repulsive. This is the villain's origin story. He was a monster created by Cohn, and Cohn was eventually appalled by what he unleashed.

You sound pretty narrow minded, I don't like him but I support him cuz he is better than the other options. But I also don't want to hear about him after his term is up, like I'm not a fan of his or politics in general.
@willpalmer6158 күн бұрын
@THEBeastGohan He lied about "winning" the 2020 election and essentially tried to end American democracy itself to keep himself in power. Fact checkers at the Washington Post estimated that he made 21 false or misleading statements a day during his first term. He's been declared bankrupt 6 times. He's the best option? Honestly, a toilet brush would have been a better option for president.

Hmmm.... I have to be honest, I don't really like or not like djt. He's not my most fav person, but I don't actually see him as a worthy replacement for the evils of the 3rd reich. At best he's a reminder of what happens when laws are selectively applied. And at worse, he's an indictment to "high"society. Also, the fact that his spiral started when he started "taking those pills" seems to imply the reason for his fall is just meth. Perhaps it is.

This movie is made by a danish movie "talent". Even in the local papers its blatantly talked about as a hitpiece (But we dont really care). ...The real story is, that if you cater to the big wigs in the movie industry, you could get a "chance", so dont see this is a docu, but as a career choice.
