Safest motorcycle on the road. That's what it is. As an autocycle it adheres to motorcycle safety standards, including needing a motorcycle license to drive it in some states.

This advertisement ran far too long. Its also pretty vague on the target market for this vehicle and how it will meet the needs of those buyers. The vehicle looks the answer to a question no one is asking.

First, vehicle weight only matters in collisions with other vehicles. In collisions with stationary walls and bridges, vehicle weight is irrelevant, and passenger safety depends on reducing deceleration rates by use of large crumple zones, maintaining the integrity of the passenger compartment, and distributing the force of rapid deceleration on the passenger. As explained, Aptera will achieve this with a large front crumple zone, a strong BinC surrounding the passengers, and air bags, respectively. Anyone who has watched NASCAR cars collide with the walls, and the driver walk away unharmed, will appreciate this kind of construction. For collisions with heavier vehicles, the Aptera will weigh only a little less than other small cars on the road. This will put it at a disadvantage when struck by massive cars and trucks, but Aptera's BinC and airbags will again protect passengers from crushing, and distribute forces, likely resulting in less passenger injury. This video also dwells on the Aptera's AV system, intended to help avoid collisions in the first place. After all, we can't all drive tanks around just to be safer than the other guy.

Know what doesn't have a crumple zone? A full cage of tubular steel like NASCAR vehicles all have had for 30+ years. The strength, weight and LACK of crumple is why those cars and their drivers can survive major accidents. Now that I think of it every racing league has some rules about a cage that does not crumple even the slightest bit to protect the driver, wonder why crumple zones got pushed so hard by the gov and auto makers, couldn't be that a 10 mph accident causes 20 grand of damage when it would have caused a scratch on an older car.... From personal experience back in 2005 getting rear ended in my 1990 mercury that still had some structure to it that was hit by a distracted teen driving a 1996 grand am, scratched my bumper cover, dented her hood, fender and bumper as well as shattered the drivers headlight assembly and grille. How safe do you think all the crumpling her car did made her in that low speed accident because the damage the crumples caused objectively totaled her car.

A cage in racing doesn't extend to the whole length of the car, so you still have a crumble zone 🙄

I paid for my ser# reservation in the beginning over a decade ago. Glad they have been able to come back, (maybe) but . . . . . . .

*Crackling of 78rpm record* *Opening bars of 紀元ニ千六百年* The original Mini, Morris Minor, MG Midget and MGB should all be put back into limited production, exactly as they were except with slightly modernised (for reliability and speed) engines or electric as an option.

Well the video says nothing and thats what Aptera said to me about safety, nothing worth while. This was during the initial round of public funding, needless to say I did not back them. I'm still following progress but wow are they going slow!

No we are willing to talk about safety but we are waiting for the crash testing. Only concerns I have heard are from over blown “hyped” titles making it sound like an issue. Thus due to misleading title this gets thumps down.

Frankly, your lack of understanding this product is extraordinarily ignorant. The company plans on crash testing the product once they get there, then you can make a comment, until then you have no knowledge, and you are just guessing, pretty dumb.
