Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the matrix. You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden to sedulously avoid it, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here.

I watched this scene a hundred time. And right now I have the impression of the architect being ... afraid. He is not lecturing Neo. He is trying to confince him to safe Zion. Because he can see that Neo, unlike the other Ones, is in love. Which could lead to the biggest f**k-up in the history of the matrix. Because the other 5 Ones have decided to save Zion. But, as the architect is afraid, Neo won't. Which could mean, and the architect AND the Oracle knew this the whole time, that this is the last circle. After that there is either the death of every human being AND the machines (cause of energy malfunction) ... or a significant change in the system between humans and machines. Which then happened. And the price was not Trinity, her death was a coincidence. The price was always Neo himself. He cannot be free. The machines are as afraid of him as they are fascinated. He is The Anomaly. He is anti-balance. It is like putting a thin transparent plastic foil on your smartphone to protect the screen. And you apply it perfectly. Even. Smooth. Shiny. Perfect. Ecxept ONE tinsy bubble. No matter you apply the foil, no matter how perfect ... there is this one little bubble, which in the end spoils it all. Well done, Neo.

well written and well said. Neo is key in unraveling of the matrix. he is the pea under the matras of the princes. all humans have something or some small stone in their shoe, neo is the symbol of this inner knowledge and feeling. to be human is to not be perfect, it is to be flawed in some way (which is very good). perfection is boring. neo needed to die for humans to be free.

I like everything you say, but for the sake of an objection I would say: yeah but that could have already happened, the architect says, everything he is going to do is already done, thus expected, thus not beyond control. It means that the oracle controlled him. If he would've chosen the two doors then that would've been a different course of action perhaps not expects and not a measure of control, thus even being in love was something the oracle implanted in him to control him.

It's not a confusing scene. It's just needlessly pretentious with its wording. It didn't need to be as simple as the subtitles, nor did it have to sound like something written by a Brooklyn coffee shop hipster author. In layman's terms, it smacks of "Oh look at us! Rewatching this scene after my programming teacher namedropped Godel's incompleteness theorem, and... holy shit, does it fit. Of course the architect can't solve the problem, every system will inherently have an inconsistency, and fixing it will result in creating another system, which, in turn, following the same law, will have inconsistencies. Neo , like all others who unconsciously choose not to stay, is pretty much dividing by zero. Do that and suddenly 1=2, which messes up even the "most basic equations" until completely destroying the system. Maybe that was obvious, but it was awesome to watch that with that in mind.

+El Chapo how can you be free to choose when the choice comprises only of the options presented/known to you. You cannot choose what you don't know/are ignorant about. Thus, the choice must inevitably be the result/response of aggregation and combination of knowledge and experience you have gathered throughout your life in correlation to the situation/environment demanding a response from you. It's more of an computation task than a choice. But because it considers nuances so small that the conscious mind have trouble keeping up being aware of them _(same in the case of luck, chance, randomness)_ it is perceived as choice. As if the result of the calculation was concluded by the conscious mind, when in fact it only perceived the result emerge from the subconsciousness that did the job. The concepts of choice, free will, chance, randomness... are ambiguous and incomplete. It's to give less developed minds _(intellectually wise)_ some way to understand the reality. See, free = devoid of limitations. To be in such omnipercipient state you'd have to be god. There are different guiding principle of our lives, free will is not one of them.

maaaaaaaaarcel Oh, you're right. I had just found out about it when I wrote that post, but essentially, it still states that a system cannot be both complete and consistent, which was what the architect was attempting, in his perfectionism. Indeed, my programming teacher only mentioned it to support his point that "your code is always gonna have flaws/holes", I don't have the mathematical expertise to understand the full implications of his theorems, but if you want to elaborate on it or how you think it connects to the matrix, please do :) I'm loving the perspectives on the answers here.

Yes, Godel did prove that there is an inherent limitation to what can be demonstrated by formal proofs and within a formal system. The architect's attempts at containing the anomaly reminds me more of Wittgenstein's perspective of language (according to his picture theory, the facts that compose the world are mirrored by words, assertions in the language). He designed a hierarchy of metalanguages to prevent self-reference, and bypass paradoxes such as: "This sentence is false." and it's pretty much an endlessly ascending tower, which is essentially how the architect is dealing with the bad eggs, and at the same time the architect should be able to recognize that he is doomed to contest the products of human reason (which can never be fully formalized by new methods of mathematical proof and principles of demonstration) forever. Godel got around Wittengenstien's restriction by showing how to mirror all legitimate processes of the metalanguage of arithmetic in arithmetic itself, and his proof concluded that any consistent set of axioms for arithmetic that could generate the natural numbers must be incomplete. I think the architect knows that he will never be able to create a perfect system due to Godel's proof as well as problems with the human psyche, but he keeps on rolling: reprogramming and layering the matrix because that's what he was made to do, I guess. btw nice lelouch pic, one of my fave anime right there.

The architect is the inductive mind, and the Oracle is the deductive. Oracle was labelled as distinct because the the anomaly (had no evidentiary basis, and thus was outside of the architects purview. You may consider the architect and all programs within the matrix as rationalizers for a narcissistic agenda. All designed to give Neo, consciousness, a primrose path to journey down, and that journey has internal impact on Neo as the savior of his humanity by fulfilling the functionals which produce the cage.

The answer to the question, the architect of the current matrix ... Fichte. His Lectures of it's inception are publicly available in "Characteristics of the Present Age" and "Addresses to the German Nation" It outlines the use of scientific knowledge of human nature and it's control through the institution of schooling to make and control a new Ideologically controlled society. Yes, Fichte was a mason i.e. architect. It should be noted that I consider Fichte to want a society which is actually conscious and free in truth which is why he had his lectures published and made publicly available i.e. so that the religious control he instigated, as he saw as a necessary step in stepping out of the religious dictatorship of his day ... I don't think he actually wanted the control to last and Napoleon may have stuffed things up a bit by defeating Prussia and causing them to panic and make a much stronger and total psychological control system than was planned?

+Brian DelGiudice But you don't see the futility and naivety in it? It is obvious how powerless Neo is here, he hasn't even scratched the surface and the architect willingly gives him all this information... what, because he's scared of Neo? He knows exactly what he will do. He knows Neo will never reach him again. The threat is empty and there is zero risk to the architect, and Neo still doesn't realise that.
@МомоЧихладзе
@МомоЧихладзе 9 жыл бұрын
+xSkitZx Revolutions show us how the Architect fails with the certainty of his prediction. Neo survives and thus might meet the Architect again. That's the tone from all movies. Neo seems powerless and has no idea what he could do at all levels of understanding he reaches. First he meets the agents, then the progams like Merovingian, Oracle and Architect, then he has to fight Smith(s). Neo believes, makes choices and he loves. And that makes him overcome seemingly unbreakable laws of this world.
@xSkitZx
@xSkitZx 9 жыл бұрын
+Момо Чихладзе Neo is under so much control it's hard to understand how you think otherwise. Everything is practically in the Architect's lap. He uses Neo to eliminate the smith virus and in doing so returns to the source to start the next iteration of the Matrix. That is all that essentially has to happen as far as the architect is concerned, and I think Neo finally realises that when he decides to travel to 01 in the 'real world' with Trinity. He realises his purpose, he knows they won't be allowed to leave. He goes to allow himself to be jacked in *at the source* so when he dies in the Matrix he goes straight there - resetting the matrix. All this equals one happy architect - another anomaly integrated into the code, the Matrix that much more perfect, the next 'One' that much less effective.

+MrBrandis21 English is not my first language either, yet I understood everything perfectly the first time I watched this scene at 14 years old, about 4 years after my first actual lesson in english. I have heard myself that people native to english speaking countries didn't understand him - which I found quite odd, to be honest. Others seemed to criticise that he seems pretentious and the creators simply wanted to make the architect "sound smart". Given the context of the character, this was probably entirely their intention. I never quite understood the problem people had with it.
@MrBrandis21
@MrBrandis21 9 жыл бұрын
Arphemius "I found it quite odd" It was the creators intention to make many not understand this. Even native speaking people have hard time understanding it. You probably understood it since you studied english for 4 years and learnt many words that are not normally in use. The average human tends to use around 3000 words while there are more than 100 000 to be used, if you study words you will learn more than those native speaking who do not even study their own language. Anyways, it's not odd at all that some people can't understand this.

The sequels get a lot of flak, but a scene like this shows they still had some of the philosophical aspects of the first. It was less apparent in the early 2000s, but has become abundantly apparent in the last 5-10 years now that more people are breaking "the system" (of which the Matrix in the movie represents). We are currently witnessing the "systemic anomalies" (i.e. rebelling, rejecting, general disorder) the architect talks about which is going to (as it's put here) fuck shit up. We can already see this, and we can see "the system" is frantically trying to react to it, as nobody is accepting whatever "new" (really re-skinned) system they pump out every few centuries to placate people this time around. They are just going to escalate the pressure until people either do, or it falls apart.

In "The Matrix Reloaded" The dialogue between Neo and The Architect was quite intriguing; here's a snippet of the latter part of the discourse. The Architect - "Hope, it is the quintessential of human delusion, simultaneously the source of your greatest strength, and your greatest weakness." Neo - "If I were you, I would hope we don't meet again." The Architect - "We won't." Beyond the philosophical undertone of "Hope" being the quintessential of human attributes and simultaneously an emotional paradox, the dialogue also exploits linguistic idiosyncrasies. Like the pervasiveness of ambiguity in semantics eliciting multiple interpretations. Primarily "Hope," a homonym; words that have the same spelling and pronunciations, with polysemic meanings. The Architect used "Hope" to highlight human desires and personal attainments, and although these aspirations in itself is not a delusion, the arbitrary-compartmentalizing of "Hope" can induce anecdotal connotations. The inferential reliance on "Hope" will bring fruition.

I agree, the idea of hope is a quintessential human process, one that can be subdued by others and only the strongest still have as they react in different ways to the obstacle. It is also seen as a positive emotion, one that enables people to have a perceived sense of self control and indicators are employed for each of the variables that a human undergoes during arbitration.

Kari Sinkko my question is, can the architect manipulate or control the matrix or just rebuild it after its destruction or failure?
@KariSinkko
@KariSinkko 10 жыл бұрын
Oh yes he's the master manipulator, but really doesn't care to meddle in the little things as he's more concerned with the compliance of the human battery. As to it's destruction or failure you are of course talking about the virtual representation of which he would be able to do those things. But, as you know, Neo went to the physical plane and resolved the issue on the surface of the machine world which resulted in the end of the war; and possibly the beginning of a new one. The end wasn't entirely resolved as it wasn't a closed tidy loop as peace wasn't 100% only the release of the subversive programs that wanted out, as well as the humans. But, that story of the release of the humans, only the ones that were free where given hope, another movie should of been done to further the story of total resolution between humans and machine, the release from the farms would of made a better completion or even a continuation of the series to go beyond a trilogy.

So god isn't the universe, he just made the physical world we live in. According to this, goddess is who allows us to have free will when the father would rather micromanage every action. Agent smith is more or less the Architect's son which is a virius, or the antichrist who seeks to overthrow god or the Architect (saturn complex) And neo seems to be christ who more or less follows the guidance of the goddess. Not necessarily attempting to oppose or submit to god, but establishing equality.

No, the architect is the grand architect the supreme leader worshipped by luciferians or the illuminati. lucifer is the architect and his grand rank is the grand architect.... i dont know whether he created this physical plane of existence but i know he manipulates those that are on it deceiving them into believing this reality is the true one by spraying chemtrails to alter the subconscious and consciousness by having his minions play "popular" mainstream songs that also alter consciousness by putting more chemicals in foods water and other usable items. all to contain us... and god is on the other end coming back to destroy the architect and his minions with fire? and liberate his people; us. whether the bible was created by the organization known as the illuminati i'm not certain---- or if they fabricated the idea of there being a god to give us false hope that he will return again with his angels to liberate us... i believe i am one of the closest in reaching christ consciousness, i know where they reside i know the hierachy i know there agenda i know the names of most of the high ranking soldiers and i personally solved the path of illumination. i think they're stupid enough to release there plans for depopulation and i suspect it will be on june 1 cicada 3301 is the illuminati as you rise and look at the rankings of the organization you will notice the leader of it is someone labeled as the "grand architect" free your mind; you're a slave and you're stuck here on this 3rd dimenssional plane limited to what you really can do on the astral plane....

I thought he is a program like the Oracle...I'm not sure if he's human. Cause that would mean he's ok with all humans being used as a battery. It doesn't make sense that he would create a illusion for humans to believe they are in control of their lives just to give power to alien machines. He is the source of the alien machines parasitically living off of human life force. I'm mean if he soon smart he could go somewhere else in the cosmos and find energy to keep the machines alive. He thinks humans are flawed when not completely subdued and that love is illogical. Which is what machines would think anyway.

All I did was cut out the intervening scenes to make this one continuous explanation.
