However, everybody was just happy when our second son was born, he was healthy, what more do we want. My third pregnancy there was so much pressure from friends and family for it to be a girl, that I believe, would it have been another boy, I would have felt a complete failure. I am old and have noticed that it is only in recent decades that men (generally) have become enamoured with their new born babies! Charles may not have been changing nappies etc but no-one surely can question his love for his sons! He spent more time with them than Diana as they got older! Diana got away with much more inappropriate behaviour than Charles because she courted the media (ironically, the playbook for her daughter-in-law!)

Diana suffered likely from borderline personality disorder, which is very serious. Those with borderline often have extremely low self esteem, cannot regulate their emotions, can fly into rages, are emotionally needy, act impulsively, suffer mood swings and depression, engage in distorted thinking, and have a hard time maintaining relationships. For this reason alone, Diana DID become the architect of her own pity-fest, and could see only herself as the one that was hurting (which is typical of borderlines). Harry may not be as emotionally afflicted, but he is definitely displaying some of his mother's negative traits - seeing himself only as the victim, and no one else. Diana knew Charles would never address her accusations publicly. Harry knows this about William as well. How tragic! This makes Harry's public airing of family conflict a form of selfishness and abuse, because William has no recourse. No one will ever hear William's side of the story (and I bet it's a doozy.)

My husband, myself and our 4 year old daughter all thought I was having another girl. Our son has heard the story many times of me saying "Oh no!" Why is Andrew Morton releasing these tapes at the anniversary of the Queen's death. It's disgusing. Diana was a lovely person but often acted spitefully and immaturely and she her had deep emotional injuries from childhood. Charles may have wanted the easy perfect family (Princess Anne had a boy and a girl) but there were obviously already issues in the marriage if Diana didn't share the sex of the baby. Wow, it's a wonder how they made it 10 years. Sadly Harry will view this as additional proof of how badly he was treated. Marriages sometimes just don't work out but Diana really tried to inflict massive damage to Charles, the future King at the time. Thank God William (and the royal family) have the emotionally balanced Catherine.

Gee, my Sicilian father didn't want any girls. Imagine his dismay when I came along as child #3 after two boys. I heard him talk about that fact of my appearance all my life. Thank goodness child #4 was a boy----my mother redeemed herself. And at the end of his life, the sons were nowhere to be around; I drove him to appointments, helped my mother with his care, visited him daily in the nursing home after a long day's work, and took care of all the funeral arrangements when he died. My brothers? They showed up. I think Charles wanted a girl----to avoid the "spare" problem he already saw in his life with Andrew. Diana and Harry are so much alike---the same whingefest, the same teary-eyed complaints, and the same pity play. Let's not forget that Diana was a pleasure seeker and user----look how she stalked Dr. Haznat Khan and even went to Pakistan to see his family (she wasn't wanted nor invited). Look how she used her health club to go after men she was interested in----in one case she phoned a man 100 times in one evening and hung up---when his wife answered. Diana and Harry both wanted love all the time, but they were so stupid and had arrested development that they were looking for that elusive love in all the wrong places. Diana was no prize. Ditto for Harry. Amazing that William turned out so well. Not the Spencer genes there...........

Why should she not be criticized, that is to say, seen for what she was. Had she lived longer she would in time have been "exposed" and I'm not sure she could have handled it. She already regretted her treatment of Charles (publicly humiliating him in those interviews) following which she was ostracized by the establishment. She tried, unsuccessfully, to backtrack. She was a beautiful and charismatic woman, and she deserves sympathy for a chaotic childhood which was not her fault. Hi Dan, I was watching a KZbin video and it pointed out that Harry invited David Beckham to one of the Invictus Games, possibly the 2022 one but when he arrived at the Airport Harry wasn't there to meet David and that David Beckham then made his way to the Invictus Games by himself he then happily talked to people and let them take photos with him, and Harry's snub was said to have been because Meghan did not want to be upstaged by David Beckham. So I understand why the young Beckham ignored Harry.

IF Diana was telling the truth, sharing on tape, that Charles was "disappointed" with a son rather than a daughter was short sighted. Did Diana not think of what this would do to Harry's relationship with Charles in time? Totally agree. When Diana did that Panorama interview I don't believe she gave a moments thought to the effect it would have on her young sons . The interview took place in late 1995. William and Harry were 13 and 11. Diana thought only of herself not about the effect it would have on her sons. Pretty disgusting!.

My Grandfather wanted my parents to have a boy to carry on the family name🙄.But, he later told my mum how happy he was that my sister and I came into his life and he wouldn’t change us for anything. I grew up knowing I was loved & adored by my granddad, as did my sister. People often say dumbass things, Charles grew up very close to Anne, and there wasn’t any rivalry. Perhaps he wanted a little girl to spoil, and for William to have someone like Anne to count on, someone who wouldn’t be a rival. In hindsight, given Harry’s memoirs, it is a pity Charles didn’t get his wish.
