A long time ago, there was an interstellar empire which spanned much of the known Galaxy, known as the Arcturian Empire. It was a tyrannical, oppressive and imperialistic militant regime, which subjugated many different races. It fell due to an event known as the "One Thousand Revolts", during a period known as The Fall, the time when the Empire experienced imminent decline and eventually death due to many factors, but the many revolts being a major one. Their homeworld, Arcturus, a large city-world had decayed into ruins of it's former glory. The last remnants of the Arcturan race being reduced to small petty kingdoms and Neo-fuedal primitive societies. But one order, a group of scientists who for a long time held resentment against the empire for their oppression and irrationality of things such as the "dominant race" or "glory". They formed a secret society known as The Prime Council. The Prime Council valued rationality, science, and technological advancement above all else, and held the goal of rebuilding Arcturan society from the ashes of the empire into something greater, into something better, learning from the mistakes of the Empire. When the Empire fell, when the rebel warships came into orbit of Arcturus, The Prime Council fled into the lower arcology levels of Arcturus, into the dark underground, where no sun touched. They resided there, for thousands of years while the society above became barbarous and primitively savage. They returned to conquer Arcturus back into their own hands from a vicious warlord whom, without The Prime Council's existence, would have laid claim to the entirety of Arcturus. But as Arcturus was swiftly conquered by The Council's forces, due to their technological might, they began work on building a new society. Starting with the reactivation of the old Vaults of Knowledge in the spires of Arcturus. Eventually becoming known as Arcturus Prime, they would go on to reclaim the old territories of the Old Empire, and come into contact with many races. One such race, the Huindu-Vu Zaan, would become great allies of Arcturus Prime. Though during a great economic downturn of the Prime Government, which left the economy in shambles and stability fleeting, the Huindu-Vu Zaan came to aid Arcturus in their time of need. Though this simple trade agreement, to some, seemed more like subjugation. Mainly among the Arcturuan Navy, this group of people would become increasingly more hateful of the Zaan, and aliens in general. With the High Admiral of the Arcturan Navy, known as The Sword Wielder, would form a secretive cabal of military, administrative, and civilian leaders which primarily had an "Arcturus First" goal of Arcturuan Isolationism and Arcturuan Nationalism, but as well as Arcturan Species Supremacy, and with the Sword Wielder in particular, and with the faction of the Cabal which shared his founded ideology of 'New Empire', as the name suggests, these groups of people want to return Arcturus and the Arcturans back to the former glory of the Empire, believing and claiming that the Prime Council has betrayed the people of Arcturus, and as a cause of their greed from allowing aliens to interfere in Arcturuan society, are thus slowly killing the Arcturan nation as a concept. They saw the Council as a hierarchy of elitist, greedy and self interested xenophilic criminals who only wish to line their pockets, and saw xenos as a dangerous threat to Arcturuan society, believing them to be attempting to slowly infiltrate into Arcturan society and slowly kill it. Eventually the Sword Wielder led a Coup De Etat against the Prime Council. He succeeded due to his large direct influence, and popular support, among the military and planetary garrisons, and as such there was little fighting, only with the Capital Defense Squadron and Primary Guard. The Arcturans now are in a tipping point in time. Will the Sword Wielder truly lead them to the greatness he and his follows promise and believe in? Or will he, his government, and his people once again fall back into ruin due to their own hubris?
