I think maybe the Argonian's were perhaps praising the crater as thanks to the Meteor? Like a "You helped weaken our enemy, for this we thank you" ? I can see maybe believing the hist or Sithis sent them a chance at revenge. Idk, I'm spit balling but thought I'd share anyway

Eruption had no effect on continental. Argonians would invade anyway. They already won thousands battles against dunmers, ayeleids etc in the past. Dunmer are shitty weaklings. Saxhleel can beat daedra. An-Xileel indaved Morrowind not because of revenge. The native argonians of deep Blackmarsh are argonians from major tribes that never heard about slavery and don't care about dunmer. They invaded cause they can.

I do think Sithis was the one who originally threw the Meteor, seeing the Tribunal, and their stolen immortality, as a threat to his ten-thousand-year plan to reunite all of Mundus with the Void.

Dunmer weren't expecting retribution for their atrocities. But good lord - imagine, the race you enslaved conquers parts of your land. - you stop them from taking remaining land only for the volcano to erupt and destroying the rest of it and covering it in ash - the capital gets hit by a meteor after a trinity of gods just peaces out and straight up leaves I'd say overkill, but then again, slavers aren't really sympathetic people, altbough this is something more deserving for the Thalmor
@LandStrider23
@LandStrider23 2 жыл бұрын
I would agree with you except for that last part about the Thalmor. They were instigated to becoming the monster that they are today due to the monster that was the Numidium with Tiber septim at the helm. Ol Tiber knew he couldn't invade them without a Divine tier Weapon. So imagine unprovoked your lands and people are but slaughtered by a Kaiju buster and you still remember that vividly because of your long life.

It's kind of the other way around; Baar Dau crashed first, then Red Mountain erupted, and only then did the An-Xileel invade. Vivec City also wasn't the capital of Morrowind - Mournhold was.

@@LandStrider23 True. Hell, even the Khajit were hit hard by the invading Imperials. Crazy how people see Thalmor=Altmer, even though they're a Radical group even among their own kind, that has people, Altmer Bosmer and Khajit alike, who don't agree with all the Thalmor methods. (Still, the Thalmor have supporters as well, for various reasons). And the Empire isn't some holy, perfect organization either, but hey, it's the Propaganda and all that. It's cool when Tiber Septim committed a large scale massacre on Mer defending themselves, but not when the Thalmor (supposedly) commit war crimes in the Imperial City... very hypocritical

@@dutchpatriot17 That and it wasn't like the Empire respected all races and they prospered. The Empire was in great position in the age that the Oblivion game is set. Heck the regent is a HIGH ELF. 5:38 I was expecting some kind of reference to the Pride of Tel Vos. The name of the ship, combined with the contents of Lymdrenn Tenvanni's Journal strongly indicate that House Telvanni suffered immense losses against the Argonians, to the point that Lymdrenn believed that House Telvanni had fallen. Now clearly the Telvanni are still around, but for her to come to that conclusion shows that the Telvanni must have suffered a lot.
@paolherledan4917
@paolherledan4917 5 ай бұрын
Indeed. If i'm not wrong, Neloth says in Dragonborn that House Telvanni still exists but no longer controls territories in mainland Morrowind anymore (while they controlled all North-East Morrowind before the 4th era), so they only controls settlements in Solstheim, possibly a few remenants in tiny islands near Vvardenfel, and Port Telvanni. I suppose the former Telvanni land on the peninsula was given to House Dres since they're still in the great concil, as conpensation for the war, and/or to House Indril/New Temple

The Accession War is quite the "reverse card" war; not to dissimilar to the Reconquista of the 15th century or the various Latin American Independence wars in the 19th. It's also a fitting name as the Argonians are accessing to a point of power & influence they haven't seen since the Merethic era more than 4000 years prior. A shame what happened to House Hlaalu; hopefully the Empire can help them one day accessed themselves.

That's from the 'History of Raven Rock volume 3' book. But it didn't happen during the Accession war, it happened year 150, so House Redoran already fought off the Argonians in the mainland over a century before a small force of Argonians came to Solstheim to cause havoc (but failed because House Redoran was able to fend them off)

That seems pretty strange to me just from a strategic perspective; a (presumably) numerically inferior, seaborne force invading terrain they aren't accustomed to. Maybe it was some kind of fanatical suicide mission... or maybe they were just foolish and overconfident, drunk on the thrill of previous victories.

I postulate that some border towns and refugee camps on the Morrorwind Cyrodiil border gets minimal and minor tax and aid relationship from the empire. While the rest of Morrorwind is virtually independent. Border towns and hamlets probably still rely on very minor imperial patrols on a small strip of the border.

I doubt it, because another huge factor that would have triggered the Argonian invasion is the Empire withdrawing their troops from Morrowind during the Oblivion Crisis, which both weakened Morrowind but also made it an independent nation in everything but name. Everyone in Morrowind hated the Empire for abandoning them, and the Empire didn't have the troops left to garrison Morrowind. The Argonians knew that the Empire would view their invasion as a tactical benefit, given it would remind Morrowind why being in the Empire has some perks (supposedly), while not killing a single imperial soldier.

If I may make a suggestion, or provide some constructive feedback: When you do a remaster of a video, it would be nice to set the old video to unlisted or, at the very minimum, remove them from the playlists they are in. Currently, there are both original and remastered versions in your playlists and so after finding your channel and bingeing your videos (fantastic channel by the way, you deserve WAY more subs) I've often watched the original video first because it comes first in the playlist, and then it feels like it's pointless to watch the remaster, because it's largely the same, just redone with maybe a few new things and better VO (and your original VO is usually pretty good, you're kinda hard on yourself). I'd rather watch your best stuff, you know? But I don't want to spend 10 additional minutes to get maybe a minute's worth of extra content multiple times, and I suspect most people won't.

@@Pr0m3th3us There is not enough thought going into it. To me the Great War is a little silly in that the Aldemari Dominion should not be strong enough to take on the Empire. The Empire is effectively Cyrodil, Skyrim, and the Daggerfall Covenant from ESO combined. No way the Aldemari Dominion has the manpower or resources to take on all of that. I write it off as the Dominion/Thalmor had the element of surprise and caught the Empire off-guard.

People will say that this was the Dunmer's biggest L, but i couldnt disagree more. This is secretly a win, specifically for the best House: Redoran. The false gods death led to the revival of the true tribunal, the oblivion gates showed the Dunmer that reliance on the empire was stupid as per the Hlaalu's demilitarition of morrowind for empire soldiers(redoran was right again), Redoran was able to push back the forces of oblivion effortlessly and single handedly despite being demilitarized, and Redoran was able to stop and push back with ease the Argonians who were hyped up on hist juice. Lastly, Redoran became the sole house of Morrowind, it was their destiny to return to their roots and drive out the mongrel dogs and the imperial worship. Morrowind will be reforged to what it should be, no dependency on slaves, no imperial dogma, a true dunmer society. Look upon whose left in morrowind, Hlaalu act as parasites in skyrim, the only Telvanni left is hardly associated with his more twisted and corrupt kin, and Redoran who are rebuilding morrowind.
