It's worth noting too that a lot a Fiore's images feature arming swords, even in the hands of scholar's in the Sword in Two Hands sections.
@jasonjames98363 ай бұрын
It is a bit dated at this point, but one of the most interesting bits of Robert Charrette's book on Fiore (Fiore dei Liberi's Armizare: The Chivalric Martial Arts System of Il Fior di Battaglia) is that he briefly extrapolates arming sword from the sword in one hand and the sword on horseback sections. You might find some of the mounted sword plays useful, if you haven't already considered them. The "sided-ness" of your guards for the arming sword give me a feeling of Vadi's guard system too. Makes sense, another Italian ;) Cheers for the project. Have fun with it. I'll enjoy watching it.
@FedericoMalagutti3 ай бұрын
@@jasonjames9836 the guards are on the side too in Fiore. Such as breve for instance, you find it depicted when the tre zugadori attack dente de Zenghiaro. It’s anyway a natural thing in general. The Longsword has centered guards simply because it has two hands on the handle! Hehe
@jasonjames98363 ай бұрын
@@FedericoMalagutti Oh not disagreeing at all. The way you demonstrate your guards is just very reminiscent of a video by Jamie MacIver on Philippo Vadi's guards. It just made me see a lot of that in the presentation. Again, thumbs up on the topic.

Very educative video regarding fighting with the arming sword ! It is like an encyclopedia of techniques from sidesword/messer/Dussak and other sources but strictly what works for the arming sword alone 😊 ! Very smart of you to develop this ! This is a great help considering there are no official manuals or treatises for Using the arming sword alone 🤝👏👏👏🤜🤛💪💪💪 !!! I have just one question though... where can I buy gloves like you have in the video ?

Question: Would you recommend starting with a Curved Guard or Straight Guard for a trainer? I'm going to begin arming sword training and have decided to buy a SIGI. There are three options for the arming swords. I really like the aesthetics of the fishtail, but if it is more practical to have the curved guard for mobility with gloves and with techniques I would rather go for that. Thank you so much for your time, and your fantastic videos!
