The arrow was was pulled out leaving only the head lodged inside. The device was covered in honey as an antibiotic lubricant, it was then inserted straight into the arrow head. This means that the blacksmith also had locate it first... The amount of pain this would've caused Henry is unimaginable!

They actually used honey in the wound. It’s a great antiseptic. They would coat a rag in it, stuff the wound and routinely replace it.
