Ms. Sol you have a gift to make exquisitely delicate sweet desserts out of whatever is left in the compositional fridge. This was apparent in your submission for “5 Musicians, 1 Scale”. But in this case the musical fridge was exceedingly well stocked by Mr Romano, and you appear to have lucked out with a Michelin-starred sous-chef in Mr. Meltzer. Synergy indeed.

The BBC had someone writing music very like this in the 80s and early 90s. Not easy writing but simple to the ear - rather like Menuhin saying about Gypsy violinists "How does one write this down?!" I'm rather touched that you got this wonderfully relaxed and natural sound in the box. I love it!

Arranging is an excellent way to strengthen all aspects of composition, by showing us how much we have to work with *around* the melody and the general harmonic structure - voicing, instrumentation, rhythmic drive, dramatic ebb and flow, playability per the given ensemble or solo instrument... I play piano and like to sing songs like this but I cannot play at the same level of musical elaboration if I ALSO have to sing at the same time, so I arrange or improvise differently depending upon whether I am the singer.

“The melody has never finished and never started” is so inspired! Danke! And the collaborative arrangement of the theme is above and beyond the original yet is an instrumental variation OF it. So the “work” is the ongoing multi-phase unfurling of an idea...which viewers of this video will no doubt improve-ise on their instrument at home or who knows how the life of this tune will go on but certainly IT WILL. Thank you for sharing the wealth.
