The art of catching fog

Growing up on Mount Boutmezguida in southwest Morocco on the edge of the Sahara desert, Khadija Ghouate never imagined that the fog enveloping the nearby peaks would change her life.
For hours every day and often before sunrise, Ghouate and other women from nearby villages would walk 5 km (3 miles) to fetch water from open wells, with girls pulled out of school to help and at risk of violence on the lonely treks.
But with groundwater levels dropping due to overuse, drought and climate change, the challenge to get enough water daily was becoming harder, and almost half of people in the local area sold up and quit rural life after generations for the city.
As the future of the traditional Berber region by Mount Boutmezguida floundered, a mathematician whose family came from the area had a eureka moment gleaned from living overseas - using fog to make water.
Now Ghouate's village is connected to the world's largest functioning fog collection project, alleviating the need to collect water that fell mainly on women, and with state-of-the-art equipment setting an example for other projects globally.

This is magical and i will advice the people living in that region to not only hanesse the water from the fog for domestic porposes but to grow plant seedlings and to start replanting trees by using the waste water and regrow the land may GOD continue to BLESS YOU ALL

This looks like a great video… The only problem was the text was very difficult to read whenever the background was close to the color of the text. Perhaps you might be able to put a highlighter background along with your text - for example white text on a black background. As long as there is fog in the air and you have something cooler than the surrounding air like their lines of string in the nets it will build up dew that you can collect. Fog is always low lying clouds clouds are gaseous water

My uncle got hepatitis from drinking water from tap even though he boiled it in ireland back in 1992 when he was in high school . This gave him lots of complications growing older as his liver kidney and pancreas were affected. From a high schooler who was top of his class in running. He became so weak that he had to walk assisted for a while and with a cane. He also didn't marry because of the hepatitis.

You could likely use 40% shade cloth, a common agricultural material, for a basic version of this netting. Comes usually in relatively generous rolls for a low cost. Some versions come with grommets that could be used to secure it to the rigidity this application requires. I think a roll that is 6.5x13ft or ~2mx4m in measurements is currently like $20. Comes in larger 100ft/~30m lengths. Its possible some minor modifications may be required for it to drip properly but its a relatively loosely packed synthetic strand material. I think it could even be used for other double purpose perhaps if you installed it on a north/south alignment in a hot area by acting as a vertical rain catcher and shade for a row of plants from the harsher afternoon sun in places like the western states in the USA where rainfall is low on average but fall in high volume when it does. Would be less effective at fog catching if not installed perpendicular to the wind borne fog on a property though.

fantastic, but i wish these scientists would appreciate that making some of their inventions not only functional, but beautiful can help with adoption of small communities. Get 6 inch corrugated pipe and a fan and a tank and hand pump curl 100 feet on top on the ground now did a hole 20 feet or more curl another 100 feet in the ground at the end bury ur water tank now put a fan at the top side blow hot air in to it the hot air will condensate as its going through the pipe now u can pump clean water up God bless you all

Oh for CRYING OUT LOUD it's not an art. Sailors have done this for centuries. Grow up. They wouldn't starve if they had not multiplied their population one thousand times in one hundred years, duh, without listening to westeners who showed them hhow to prosper but they didnt' want the work. They wanted to continue being hunter warriors, not field labourers. They think field work is BORING for men...that it is womens work. When do you ever see men doing any work in Africa. No they send kids into mines and pregnant women into fields while men never run out of bullets for more vainglorious predator occupations like defending corrupt leaders from being deposed, who like the people poor and helpless so they don;'t have the strength to overthrow them. The men ensure those leaders stay in power and the west pays for it all in foreign aid. It makes my blood boil.
