Three Philly natives embark on the journey to find the heart and soul of golf in the city of brotherly love. At the heights of their stardom, these three golf artists explore the history and future of golf in Philadelphia from their perspective lenses. Novelist and writer, Tom Coyne, explores the stories that made Philly golf so special through the ages. Lee Wybranski gets behind the brush to show the beauty and majesty of these iconic places and events. And Gil Hanse dives deep into the architectural significance of Philly’s golden age golf course design and how the future of golf architecture is being shaped.

Beautiful video! Those really are some magnificent courses. It’s a shame that they’re not accessible to more golfers.

You might be surprised. Participating in the GAP program mixes the public and private golf communities very nicely. Also, Most every "private" golf course will host a good number of charity events each year "outings" and if you wanted to support one of these it would not cost much more than a weekend green fee at some of the hight end public courses. Most private courses still promote walking and therefore support active caddie programs which rely on local community and these same clubs support large caddie scholarships that have provided pathways for young people to caddy as a teen and be a member as an adult. Golf is a much more interwoven fabric than most people really understand. The "two Johns" story from Aronimink (23.35) of this video and Cobb's Creek points out the truths of American golf and the promotion of an "Open" championship that very few people know. Wouldn't it be nice if more people could understand that even though golf has it's roots in a wealthy pass time the people who enjoyed it understood that the future of the game would be dependent on it being accepted and participated in by all levels of people.

Enjoyed this glimpse into a city I haven't visited for golf. Interesting to listen to Gil talk about the reaches of the Philly architects as he is now carrying on that storied tradition himself.

Huge, long time NLU fan. Became a Tom fan once he showed up in a season of Tourist Sauce. Have since read most of his books (and hope to run into him one day on a local course here in the Philly burbs). Spectacular video. Well done.

Glad to be in this area, trying to check off PCC and Guelph Mills next year. Got Rolling Green this year and that is already a top 10 for me easily

Interesting. Im going to try and contact him to see if he has any pics of Woodcrest in vorheees. Would Love to see some flyovers of it. Especially because we have so many talks and debates about how it was built and designs.

Great work! Rolling Green is about as much fun as you can have playing golf. The spotlight on Flynn was excellent, more need to be familiar with his work.
