Im gonna use this time to say that this is why majoras mask is my favorite game of all time. The game was made in only 2 years, the team had to reuse models and implement experimental mechanics, and with absolutely no time to question the choices they were making, its safe to say that majoras mask wasn't great in spite of its rushed development, but specifically because of it

As someone who views AI art the same as I do Auto Tune, let me be clear. It is a tool. And yes, I have spent multiple hours taking image after image, layering filters, adjusting the image, refining it over and over until I got exactly what I was looking for. As close to what rests in my mind as an author… AND YET!!! I would still prefer the heart, soul, and skills of an actual artist! So while I do defend AI art as a tool and while I do believe it can have soul, I still believe there are aspects to an actual artist doing the work that not only require less effort but also can bring unique aspects to the piece itself that an AI can never do. The same thing is true for my writing. People can AI generated a book to match images they have drawn to novelize their art(the flipped situation to what I was doing) and their story will never have the same level of scope and fine tuning, continuity and dropped plot points that a human writing the novel brings. It would be clear it wasn’t an artist making it up on the fly and trying to stitch together as many threads as they can. It would be like dollar store mittens. Easily torn apart and retaining no warmth. So I understand that I can use the tool with all my soul to make something beautiful that matches my stories… but I prefer the warmth and quality I get from getting one artist to make a piece for me.

Percived scarcity and chase for unique are very important things in art. Ai art destroys this and this questions all our previous evaluation of good art, that is interesting, remindes me of early 20th century suprematists era

I would argue soul isn't so much indicated by the quality of a game despite limitations. I say a game has soul when the voice of the creator shines through in the final product. It's the personal connection between the consumer of art and the producer that generates a feeling of soulfulness in my opinion. Indie games have a better chance of achieving this with their small teams and lack of corporate meddling, but art from the big companies can also achieve this feeling on occasion, in spite of all the filtering that happens between devs and the consumers.

really good video, i completely agree with it too! i love art which is imperfect, it's one of the main goals i have with my own artstyle honestly. i really wish people were more able to appreciate the value of imperfect art

When my brother showed me the new persona 3 remake sprites, i couldn't explain why i liked the old ones better. I never even played a persona game before, i know like 3 characters from the whole series. But looking at the old sprites compared to the new, i just feel like it's soul was missing to some small extent. This video helped me realize why i felt that way, ty ducksen. Very glad i found your videos.

YESSSSSS YES YES YES. i have spend so much time stuck in a "art should be perfect and cutesy" group that shamed for anything that has any personality aside from cute. and here i am now, at the 18 years of age trying to unlearn it. because thats not what art is for, its for emotions, its for expressing how you see a reality and not just making a glorified cutesified version of a reality

I don't know if Pizza Tower Fu is made with pait because it gives me the feeling of that but without a doubt it is something that I love as the lines have practically the same thickness and as the hands are not so perfect but I simply love it

I wonder , if effort and intent really trump all will stay true in the future , when the tools we use will make everything easier and easier , and since you can't really effectively gauge those effort and intent in the first place then comparing the result will only be the option we've left . "perfection" is not real and subjective to each perspective anyway , something that's perfect in one man eyes will be perceived as flawed in another .

yeah this works with all media not just animation punk is simple mostly bluntly played 4 bar jams with a high bpm and loudscratchy noises. its easy to do but its so you can hear all the punks telling the queen to fuck off. something they felt so important to do that they didnt even bother to make the song super composed. makes that one thing they did put alot of thought into seem more impactful. then theres the whole genre of Gabba- loud outa sync samples trying to scare you for an hour. the set of songs are not easy to listen too./

It needs to be pointed out that the airbrushed look of most ai art is not a requirement but rather a result of not using LORAs to work against it and spamming promts with words associated with non aichad art with similar styles such as photorealistic and flawless or whatever
