A friend of mine once said as we were on a camping trip, someone had pulled out a small speaker and was going to play some music, he asked for him to put it away, and he said, "we as a society have lost the ability to enjoy the silence". The rest of the trip, we did just that, went about doing activities and ENJOYED the silence! It was a great trip and helped me to realize that there are times we need to stop and do just that, enjoy the silence! ✌️

Not only did I hear one yesterday morning while walking the dog, I spotted the little guy. He was alone on a branch, singing his little song. I had a similar nostalgic experience, flooded with memories of playing outside and having fun. I realized in that moment that I can't think of the last time I've heard one of these fellas.

Now i have camera , i have mobile and others photography equipment im still not able to start making video I spent year learning or watching how to videos , even im doing job as industrial designer in mobile lens making company where we have worked on design for anamorphic lens , filters for cameras and more. I always loved your style of video and feel it gave its so much motivating that i want to start but i feel that might be just fear or lack of confidence that stops me from doing it specially in public places.

I have 3 pairs of mourning doves at my house, at first I loved them for all the nostagia reasons and I like the sound. But they can go ALL DAY right next to my window and drive me insane sometimes. They're also very clumsy and dumb, idk how they are still alive, they fall off our feeders constantly. They are closely related to pigeons so I now refer to them as "Nostalgia Pigeons"

I love how you're able to bring a memory from the childhood alive together with all of the VHS footage and the story of the Morning Dove. I think now, more than ever, it's important to what we pay attention to, and I'm very happy that you're using your skills as a filmmaker to communicate the importance of that. Of what we consume. Of being aware of our habits. Really well done Jake. Thank you 🙏

omg this made me cry... I think life is so, so, so beautiful and so full of so many things, feelings... so full of life, of moments. And we just miss it. We actively choose to miss it by ACTUALLY PAYING ATTENTION to everything, but to our sourroundings. I'm so sick of automatically thinking about putting my headphones on whenever I have to do something, it's so messed up that we have to be so aware of not being distracted by something nowadays. I remember the times where boredom was just something we had to get used to and we, trying to escape it, tried our best to get ourselves entertained. Now it's backwards. We have to now purposely choose to be bored or else, we will always be with our phones, headphones, thinking about work, studies, but never about the present. The real present. Right this second. Literally right now that you're reading this message. You, right now, are actually distracted. Again. And so am I.

TLDR: The speaker reminisces about the comforting sound of a mourning dove from their childhood and expresses concern upon hearing that they might be extinct. After researching, they find that mourning doves are abundant, suggesting the speaker simply stopped noticing them. They reflect on how modern distractions can dull our attention to simple pleasures. They emphasize the importance of being mindful and present, while acknowledging the need for balance. The video is supported by Musicbed, a music licensing service that enhances the emotional impact of their content.

My memory from childhood comes from waking up to my dad working from home and starting up the internet and hearing the dial up tone and me rushing to see what he will be doing for the day, the small fridge that he sold Coco Cola cans for R4 or what you know as ZAR or the Rand. Now that same Coco Cola costs about R16. I miss having my music on tape and my movies on video tape and waiting for a movie to start on TV for a week. I miss waiting for my friends at the mall and then going to do something. We all have gotten so wrapped up in our phones that we all miss the things around us. Just for once, sit, look and listen to what is going on around you without thinking about your phone and take a deep breath and be in the moment.

Really enjoyed this. I know what its like to feel disconnected from the world around you. For me though, I've always been hyper focused on the sound of birds. My father has a PhD in biology. Despite being focused on phyto-plankton for most of his career, he is an ornithologist at heart. To this day we still go on walks in the woods and he will know every bird that sings. Recently we actually built a passive acoustic monitoring system that listens to birds for us and identifies them using a simple AI system.

Crazy brother , I always love this morning dove singing , it reminds me of my Nani’s place ( grandmother ) back in days in summer I go to visit her and I get to listen to this sound. It’s almost 20 years now, I really don’t go for so long and may be I don’t pay attention in my short trips to Nani’s place.Everything is so chaotic and and we don’t focus and pay attention to things where we are at present.
