5:10 - Wow, I’m genuinely surprised by how good these pictures are. I didn’t expect that. Great job! Edit: Every picture shown in the video is on point-I loved the vid and your whole channel. Note to self: I need to narrow my KZbin consumption to channels like yours that truly matter in my life, ones that offer more than just entertainment. Thank you!

Jake i have the same troubles. BUT GUESS WHAT i just took a course call “the cone of creative confidence” with Diana Varma. When she said that we all, the creators of any art, we feel totally not worth it, that we don’t see ourselves as others see us, i felt the click, that we all have the same feeling for ourselves, even the people that is gorgeous physically. Confidence has to be work out like a muscle. Being brave and show our art is part of the exercise. I love EVERYTHING YOU DO! You are a fantastic being. Thanks for your art handsome!

Your videos will never cease to be insightful and the MET is a magical place! When I was there I think I spent around 6hrs and didn't see anywhere near all of it. Would love to go back one day. In reference to the self portraits, they're hard and it truly is crazy how you can take 100 that don't turn out for just a few that do. In your case though I would say that your entire channel is your self portrait. A different medium for sure, but it makes you feel something and is an honest reflection of you. Please never stop being you. Happiest of holidays!

I know almost nothing about film and photography, but I've had ideas in my head for a long time. I love playing with light, shadows, and angles. I have so much to learn about the technical side of things, and technique. This is the second video I've watched from you, after the about RGB one. Your stuff is really inspiring, and it's a coincidence that this was the second, because self portraits are something that I've been thinking about in the past few years. I'm subbed now, and look forward to watching your future vids. Thanks

Hey Jake, I just checked this out as your guide to filming on a low/no budget video came up in my feed. I'm just about to watch 'G' now, but I had to comment and say that I'm so bowled over by the sheer verve, scope, dedication and talent that you (and your small crew) so adeptly display on here for the world to see. This in particular is EXACTLY the sort of thing I love to watch on KZbin (think a lot of 'slow living' content, f'rinstance). You, good sir, have just earned yourself a sub. I look forward to checking out more of your content 🙂

The way you captured the essence of self-portraiture as an art form is inspiring. It's a refreshing reminder to focus on storytelling over trends!

Dude I love this!!!! You at the end talking about how you view yourself vs how you think others view you is an emotion I struggle with daily too. Watching your work inspires and frustrates me at the same time. I'm always inspired by what you do and how you come up with ideas and topics, then I get frustrated and think why didn't I think of this!!!! Too good man, keep it up!

Jake I am so impressed at the way you explore your human experience through art. When I think about you as a creator, I guess you have always done this, but this video in particular makes it abundantly clear. The photo you showed trying to push through the plastic with your hand in the foreground, is a masterpiece in my humble opinion. Thanks for sharing mate.

And here I was just thinking yesterday that I could really go for seeing a new video of yours! I love this topic because it's so much a part of my creative process--I'm 29 now and I've been taking photos of myself since I got my first digital camera when I was 10. I've always struggled with the idea of what's the point? Do I really need another photo of myself? Especially since my photos aren't artsy or edgy or conceptual like so many self portrait artists. But creating conceptual work has never felt true to me or who I am. Instead I create characters that are conceptual in their own way, I guess. I hope that they're more than selfies. And even though I don't know what the point is, I still keep taking photos. I think my favorite set of these is the reflections in the city ones!

First time viewer here, i love the artistic process you go through. It’s inspiring to see a stranger put themselves out there on the internet like that, especially since I am an introvert contemplating the same thing. Human to human, I see you.

Thanks man, I've been struggling with self portraits even though the idea has been in my mind for a long time. You put it perfectly into words: I was documenting, it was not self expression. I feel so inspired by your shots (sick shots!) -- I know what I'm doing this weekend. Thanks again. Btw, almost everybody i met struggles to see what others see in them. You're not alone.
