Each person will require different pieces of technique. There are many other elements and even this video itself is a simplification of something larger in order to be easier to consume as a viewer (R1 movement). I will expand much deeper on all of these things once I can lay all the foundations on my channel. Just in general here are a few parameters to consider for voice: pitch, pitch contour, consonant modification, vowel modification, embouchure, nasal modification, dynamic control, glottal quotient, Most of what we do for sound can be thought of as: R1 control, R2 control, interdependence between them, the source controls (vocal fold and air stuff), and the lips. This allows us to create a female sized instrument (resonating chamber) and create the same vocal fold conditions--thus female tone. Beyond that there is further nuance in control, behavior, dynamics, consistency, etc. :o

Oh my god, I was really anticipating the day you would continue the series, the first already blew away anything else out there, but this... You managed to get every single aspect of the video straight on point, the looks, the sound of it, infographics, scenery, and, most importantly, the actual content, which is BEYOND what I've ever seen, heard, or read anywhere out on the internet. it doesn't feel like an informative video from someone with 5K subscribers, it feels more like a really high-quality production by a big company. Thank you so much for being around and sharing your knowledge in such a unique and helpful way with all of us, you clearly have the perfect skillset to make stuff like this, and I hope that you are able to get a larger following base, you not only deserve it but also basically every Transwoman out there struggling with their voice would immensely benefit from your videos, as almost every other video out there on this topic is more a overview or a story than a tutorial.

Thank you SO much, seriously. This comment has totally made my day. When I sought out to make this video I really wanted to create a, "Gesamtkunstwerk" (total work of art). That will continue to be my style. I'm really happy with how the interludes of my soul music play against the video. I finally see a great way to combine my passion for music with my passion for voice education! Do them both at the same time! Haha. I am so flattered by your wonderful words. While I may just be one individual, my service TransVoiceLessons has grown quite massive. I'm booked up until November for lessons at this point and I'm starting my company: Internal Bioacoustics. I really want to change the way the world interacts and understands what "voice" is. I'm blessed to be able to help other transpeople heal their dysphoria and self actualize. this reply is all over the place but I just wanted to get some thoughts off about what you said.

@@TransVoiceLessons That is brilliant, to see once in a while a passion project of someone with real talent work out. I am one of the people who believe that in order to learn something it is immensely important to understand the underlying principles and not just apply pre-determined techniques without knowing why they work, because if you do that and you ever find yourself stuck with a problem, chances are you have no idea how to solve it. And that is what makes your channel so different, you don't just say "do this and then that will happen", you explain "This is how that part works, this is a general principle that applies to everything, so we can exploit it in this way by doing that.". Two more things, until you talked about your FFS, I still wasn't sure if you were cis or trans, I just couldn't tell. Seeing those amazing results gives me a lot of confidence as I believe that the voice is what makes or breaks your ability to pass, and I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that you were trans. Then also, your English is absolutely flawless, I thought you were a native speaker and couldn't hear an accent (and I am german myself), so ein gutes Englisch habe ich selten von jemand Deutschem gehört. Gesamtkunstwerk is a very fitting word, it definitely shows where you put in little details, the short music at the right places, the overall color scheme and art style, layout, structure, everything fits together like a charm. Keep up the amazing work, I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled for the next part in the series!

I've been going over various DIY voice training guides and I've read a bit about the larynx. This video is extremely helpful because of the way you give instructions for performing a number of steps for speaking with a raised larynx. The one thing that doesn't seem quite right to me is that I get the impression that when you transition between low and high larynx position, the difference in resonance is so great that I can't help but suspect that you are knowingly or unknowingly using other techniques to brighten your resonance, as well. I am very much looking forward to hearing from you about other vocal feminization techniques. Thanks for all you do!
@TransVoiceLessons5 жыл бұрын
Very wonderful observation! Yes, there are certainly other things knowingly moving slightly. I'm intentionally tuning my R2 to a harmonic of my R1 in order to bring out the R1 to allow people to hear it more clearly! I love this excellent question!

@@TransVoiceLessons The reason I mention this is because I understand that larynx control is one of many techniques involved in vocal feminization. I get better sound with larynx control, but at least for me, applying this technique alone does not provide sufficient change to make other people hear my voice as female. Your voice sounds so beautiful and perfect that I fear that others who follow along with your video might be discouraged at not sounding as well as you do simply by following this one technique. I keep hearing others say that repositioning the tongue is probably the next technique to master after larynx positioning, and I frankly can't brighten my resonance with tongue positioning to save my life. I'm hoping that you'll be providing tutorials on tongue positioning and other techniques in the future that are as helpful as this video is on larynx control. I'm already getting so much out this, and so I felt the need to offer you some patronage. Blessings!

@@vivianriver6450 Yes...I struggle with that, too. I watched a few videos about raising the larynx by now...and when I do it - and I had some professional lessons as well a while ago - I don't know....it sounds different for sure...but not thaaaat different. I mean everyone is her own harshest critic...but honestly...when I listen to recordings...I just still sound male -.- ... like a male with a lighter voice maybe...but nothing substantial. And when I put more pressure or tone in it, it just goes over the border to artificial. Sometimes I think, I just still have no Idea, what my authentic female voice would sound like...probably it is somewhere on the deeper and softer side and I just have no imagination, where to target?

You are very educated in the mechanics of the voice. This is the best channel on the tube for voice feminisation. This lesson alone helped tremendously. I'm subscribe, liked and clicked the bell for future videos. Thanks.

Bravo! Finally someone has linked air flow and compression, showing how airflow alone in the vocal tract (or the toothbrush or white noise, etc) not only shows how laryngeal position but the vowel formants as well. Bravo!!

I'm very early in my process, haven't come out as trans yet to anyone, only accepted it myself a few months ago really. But wow you are such an inspiration and I already feel so much more confident that I can one day come out and start my transition. Thank you so much for doing this work for the community! Much love

Archive higher pitch and more feminine voice with this effective voice highlighting tea. High in Vitamin C, vitamin B12 and Thiamine. You should try, take two weeks to hear changes and helps your throat stay unhurt whilst practicing.

I have watched myriad of these, but this is the only one that actually helped me, especially that breathing exercise worked and from just that I can get a pretty feminine voice. Thank you so, so much

I am a cis maie tenor struggling to add A4 to C5 in mixed voice. A major block has been my inability to differentiate between the raised versus tilted larynx positions experientially. By following the steps in your lesson I was able to produce a respectable soprano tone in that range. Not my goal of course but doing so helped me differentiate between the two, first by sound and then by feel. So thank you, thank you, thank you! .

I've started transitioning about 1,5 years ago. Actually went to a gender voice therapist the first few months. But it got nowhere. And I've developed massive voice dysphoria to the point I don't really talk at all outdoors. This is day 3 of me trying again and this is the first video I really understood. The exercises are greatly simplified. Which I just love. I hope you'll do more video's like this (I'll look at your channel more thoroughly once I feel I've mastered this a bit.) I'm Dutch myself. But I feel like I sound much smoother and use different parts of my mouth when I speak English. It's a bit higher pitched as well. Would it be weird to practice this in English? Or should I stick to my more masc Dutch voice? Thanks for this so far!
@TheVladdracula13 жыл бұрын
The reply is a bit late but oh well XD Different languages use different parts of the throat and mouth for most of their sounds. For example I can speak both German and Russian and I have a deeper voice when speaking russian as well. You could try speaking Dutch with an English accent as an experiment. It will sound weird as hell but also less masc

Super helpful video! A thing that helped me with this, is looking at the characteristics of trans men's voices at a stage where their voice hasn't peaked in resonance, and trying to reverse engineer that. Essentially trying to make myself sound like a transitioning man and then trying to train my pitch from there. Sometimes even lowering my pitch on purpose to match it and work from there. This also helps for when you're trying to control your pitch more independently to your larynx, because it helps with understanding the shape and soundscape of your mouth and which muscles you should use to control what. Experimenting and not straining is important!

You show a virtuosity in the use of your voice and the individual vocal functions, fascinating. It needs me a long time to keep my Larynx up. At first it was hard to pinpoint the exact position, cause my Adam's apple is not very pronounced. At the moment I am training the pronunciation of vowels without the glottis beat to soften the vowels.
