Honestly I don’t think so. There needs to be a societal change on the way we view women and men’s roles in society. If we remove the stigma of women only being caretakers or “better caretakers” more men would be winning custody battles. Not to mention the way we view men and their roles in society also plays a part in change. Men aren’t losing custody battles because a women carried the baby for 9 months, they’re losing because we view men as “not capable” of being a caretaker.

Also, as far as I understand, all babies are terrified when born. Additionally, I think one aspect of ectogenesis that will be addressed is creating the artificial womb with DNA from the mother, especially since the goal currently (as far as I understand) is to mimic the human womb, not make a superior one (yet). Even conditions that have great treatments still cause problems because it wasn't possible to use it in due time, or depends on changes of lifestyle that are a lot easier said than done like weight loss. Urinary tract infections in pregnancy for example cause a lot of premature labors despite having extremely eficient antibiotics and obesity and its complication in pregnancy lead to a lot of problems that could, hypothetically, be avoided if the mother lost weight. A controlled environment is the only way to safely and efficiently avoid prematurity or other hundreds of problems in pregnancy

This would be great for many reasons, but one that really sticks out to me is the ability to transfer premature babies into an artificial womb so they can continue to develop and avoid the health complications they face today. If you could do this and prevent the lifelong medical issues some premies have, the cost savings would be enormous!
