I have hearing loss and tinnitus from military and fire service and I would like to have suppressors and I live in a permissive state but do a lot of shooting in a non permissive state and I just don't want their scrutiny. I was a home FFL and they tried to get me on what was their screw up and was "encouraged" to give up my FFL. 2 liter soda bottles are useful.

@@WilliamCollins-sh6lm I've been shooting since I was 16. 22 rifles mean nothing to me since I was in my 20s. Everything else is still loud. I have 2 suppressors. The one in 223 still isn't hearing safe on my AR15 unless I'm using subsonic ammo, but then it doesn't cycle. The .223 I handloaded improperly does cycle in my C93 (HK33) and is hearing safe (to me), but I can't use that ammo in my ARs. The other one is a 22 suppressor, and that one is so fun. So fun you forget that its a 22 and not an air gun. The bullet striking a target like a tree or a mud puddle is louder that the shot itself.

@@RemoteCamper Exactly my point !!! I too a country farm boy an have been shooting since 8 . And doing creative gun smithing nearly all my life... While not using a hearing aid my hearing is severely damaged . Must have been 20 before I ever heard of anything like hearing protection ... Why a gun muffler is even an issue escapes common sense to me !!! Especially when "Shall not be Infringed" is supposed to be the law of the land !!! A God Given Right can not be regulated , taxed , suspended , changed or modified ... A Privilege can ... Why , when and how can the God Given Right of Self Defense ever Stand ??? Just my thoughts...

It was all regulated back in the 30s in order to create more laws to charge the Mobsters. Until that, everything was not just legal but you could have a machinegun mailed to your house that you ordered through the mail.

OSHA,and the ATF, are fighting the same thing in different ways! OSHA says that if you are in an environment that has a noise level above a certain threshold, you must reduce the noise or require your employees to wear hearing protection, or you will be fined! The ATF says you’re not allowed to reduce the noise level of a firearm, or they will kill your dog, and maybe you, to protect your hearing! I’m an old fart, so my hearing is shot, from all the great bands I got to see back in the day, plus, at a young age my uncle gave me a weapon, and allowed me to shoot it as much as I wanted, I believe there is some irony there, not sure like I said I’m a deaf old fart! On the subject of automatic fire, the best of the best riflemen do not use it , because it’s not accurate, they are called snipers, they shoot suppressed bolt action arms!
